Thank you SO MUCH for documenting this and sharing it with us. Your clarity is great!

I'm on a study with mm670 in closed loop and my A1c has gone from 8.1 to 6.5 in a month.... Even if it s not perfect it's really a big improvement for us.

May I have a question about my Freeatyle Libre 3 setup on t-slim pump ?

Great video! I've been on Medtronic closed loop but it's been a nightmare. So many alarms and alerts that wake you up at night. The CGM with the pump is not accurate and expires without warning. I'm switching to Omnipod looping. The big issue for me is lipodystrophy (bad site absorption after 45 years of insulin), Omnipod offers more useable/accessible sites given there's no tubing. Can't wait to try it out.

Thanks you for this well-made comparison. I'm looking to choose my first pump. I have difficulty to choose between tandem and omnipod 5. You said the algorithm is better on tandem. How much better? I know it's difficult to compare, but can you give us some numbers to compare. Time in range, average, estimate A1c, médian, stddev.
    Thanks

This is the first comprehensive video I've seen on the comparison. THANK YOU! I'm trying to decide for my 5 yr old and the algorithm is a big deal for me. Do you know how much better Time in Range is?

I have been using DIY Loop with Omnipod for 2 years now and have had excellent results. While you do make some compelling arguments in favor of the Tandem pump, I have had shockingly few issues with Omnipod Loop. In fact, I've had fewer issues with DIYLoop than I've ever had with any commercially-available pump (and I've had quite a few). For me personally, tubeless makes the Omnipod such a big win, as does the very simple site changes. Whenever I've traveled and just in my day-to-day life as a parent, I've appreciated so much how fast the Omnipod site changes are. The Tandem site changes just annoy me with all those steps.

Hi Benjamin, thanks so much for this video. I'm very curious to learn about your thoughts regarding automatic bolus, and Control IQ. You mentioned it in the video, but I wasn't sure if you were using the automatic bolus branch, which I personally noticed a dramatic shift in control with my diabetes. I am really keen to trying out the Control IQ, but I'm not sure how it is going back to only changes in temp basal, rather than getting the full dose straight on. Can you comment on this at all given your experiences?

Thank you for the comparison, I have one question, do you think that the DIY could work with omnipod Dash or not ?

Hey thanks for this video! With the omnipod dash, are we restricted to iPhone or does Android work? (ie Android APS).
    Thanks so much

      AndroidAPS is compatible with Dash!

What about remote monitoring? I presume you get nothing with the tandem, except just bg if you pair a phone as well? So if you are minding your t1 kid the tandem leaves you in the dark?

There is no remote insulin monitoring yet (basals, boluses) but hopefully it's in the pipeline. But you can remotely monitor with the Dexcom (blood sugars), through the Dexcom Follow App or through Nightscout.

Tandem has their app with FDA to approve for Bolusing which is the primary use

At this point, I think I'm more inclined to the Omnipod 5 system, just because of the tubeless feature, and the fact that you don't really need basal rates after a while. I don't love that CIQ cuts your basal to 3.0 U/hr regardless of your scheduled basal rate if you're supposed to be in range in the coming hours. I agree with the cumersome-ness of the Tslim site change...plus it wastes so much insulin every time. I'm so excited for what is to come in the next year or 2 for HCL systems!

I’m due a new pump in 3-4 months. Have to choose between TX2 or Omnipod. Difficult choice. I currently on Dexcom and Med 640g.

Omnipod5 is taking FOREVER coming out with a loop system..they keep promising and nothing still..I hear AGAIN THE END of this year or beginning of NEXT year which is the same thing they say every year

Are you talking about omnipod dash or 5?

    • @bmamm
      @bmamm  2 ปีที่แล้ว

DIY systems are discussed in this video, they are compatible with Omnipod DASH or Eros. Omnipod 5 is a new hybrid closed loop system developed by Insulet, it is not available yet

I want to try omnipod at some point. Tubes are annoying me lately and Tandems customer service went down the toilet. I am addicted to control IQ.

One thing, the omnipod is limited to basal and bolus. 20 to 1 basal and bolus. Tslim is more to the point. Bolus 100 to 1, basal 1000 to 1. Can make control iq more to the point of what is needed.
