This is my second comment after getting to the end of the video, but i REALLY love this video. Thank you so much. I feel like this is the most receptive you've been to a pump that wasn't Omnipod. It hits so many nails right on the head. Control-IQ *is* the most similar to AndroidAPS and now iAPS. It's actually nearly identical at it's roots and the way it tracks net insulin on board, tracks the ENTIRE course of insulin duration, how it does most of it's magic by adjusting your programmed basal rates on your programmed settings, that it works within specific target ranges and leaves you to your own devices when you're doing good without it's help. The DIY systems have a few extra perks that Control-IQ hasn't gotten approved yet, but advancements are coming. Version 2.0 is coming out later this year. Dexcom G7 integration is rolling out as we speak.
I also love that she uses the profile adjustments just like i do. This is what sets Control-IQ apart. There seriously isn't enough information about hormonal cycles and how the AID systems respond to it. I wish female stats were isolated in the studies. Have you ever noticed that it seems like males do better on the fully automated systems? A system that takes weeks to learn you (or never actually learns you at all in the case of O5) can't respond fast enough to hormonal influences that only last 3-7ish days for each crazy swing. I need a really low profile for a few days, and then suddenly BOOM, the switch flips and I'm insanely insulin resistant for the coming week. Those learning systems were just just figuring out to turn down insulin, and now i need MORE insulin than usual. Tandem is the only commercial system that can change behavior as fast as my insulin needs change.

I have used omnipotent Eros, OP5, tandem, and tandem x2 😊i liked the tandem control in better due to the auto bolus, and me always forgetting to take insulin when im eating. However i still miss the loop algorithm the most. That was perfection and made me forget I had diabetes completely.

I am waiting for the Tandem Mobi link to Freestyle Libre. It is hard to find info on when this might happen. 15 days vs 7 or 10 days is a very important feature for me.

I left Tandem and so glad I did. Tandem is so in the red as a company and they are relying that the Tandme x3 will bring them back into the black.
I will stick with AAPS and G7. And once Twist and Tide Pool Loop comes and is tested thoroughly I will most likely switch since my Endo can't give me medical advice with AAPS since it's not FDA approved
Keep up with your posts Justin. You are a blessing

I will be starting the mobi later this week, my only complaint is that it is not compatible with any phone but apple right now, I am not an apple user so in order to use the mobi I had to buy a used iPhone just to be able to use it. I don't get why it isn't compatible with android or come with a PDM to control the mobi.

Personally, I do NOT like Control IQ. It will give me a control bolus and within an hour to an hour and a half, my blood glucose levels crash. I do much better in "Sleep Mode" than using Control IQ. With that being said, I am going to give Tandem Control IQ another try since it is my summer break from school. By the way, I have been a Type 1 Diabetic for 51 years now. I initially went on a Medtronic pump back in 1992 in preparation to get pregnant and manage the continual changes of insulin needs during pregnancy. My A1C during pregnancy was 4.5 and currently is 5.7. I have been using a Tandem pump since 2021 and it is not my favorite. My loaner Tandem pump is due up in a month, and I was thinking about trying Mobi. I am also struggling to find new sites to place my pump since I have lots of scar tissue which is affecting my bg levels. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Recently stumbled on to your channel and am enjoying your content. I am a T1D since 1965. On an insulin pump since 1985. A lot of different pumps and many different experiences. Recently (6 mos ago) went from a tandem X2 to a BB iLet pump and have been in diabetic he*l for the past 6 months. I’m not knocking the iLet pump, I’m just saying it doesn’t work for me at all. I thought it would get rid of nighttime lows, but instead they have increased on a factor of 2-4x! I have done two factory resets under guidance from their tech trainers, but the same situation still exists. Because I’m on Medicare, I cannot change back to the X2 unless I purchase it outright. I am working overtime to get that to happen ASAP. Back in ‘85 when I got my first pump, I had a friend who was an amazing seamstress (still is!) make me a shoulder harness for my pump, so the pump is on me, not my clothing. Makes bathroom trips and outfit changes infinitely easier. I think back to when I was diagnosed and they told me in training: this is a syringe and this is the needle and this is how to properly draw up your dose. How far have we come with SO MANY choices for diabetics today. I also was considering using the Omnipod 5 but my drug plan would still leave me with over $250 / month expense and when retired, that is not welcome news. When all the “noise” of the alarms start up, I just tell people: “Oh, don’t mind that, it’s just my alarming friend!”

I decided to stay with Tandem slimx2 when my warranty ran out as I just never carry my phone with me all of the time. Otherwise I would have changed to the mobi. Also, do you know if the people who use Tandem's slimx2 also order the 5 inch tubing? It seems that if the mobi can use both long or short tubing, then so should either tubing be able to be used in the Tslimx2?

I used the Medtronics 770G with their sensor for years. Alarms, tube, customer service all were issues that made me look elsewhere. I switched to the Omni pod 5 and G 6 sensor about a year ago and love it, freedom from the hose and way less alarms in the middle of the night. However, I am turning 65 and have to go on Medicare, which doesn't recognize Omni Pod as Durable Medical Equipment. The cost to remain on the Omni Pod is going to be a factor in switching to a tubed pump. I appreciate your videos to give me options. Thank you.

Yes I have used Omnipod 5 and Tandem t-slim x2 w/Control-IQ. Omnipod's algorithm just did not seem to be aggressive enough. Although my TIR was 65-75%, I felt like it could have been better, because it seemed I was not getting enough insulin daily. I also saw more highs, 200+, with Omnipod than I have seen with Tandem. Control-IQ is definitely a bit more aggressive. I've been on Tandem for about 5 months now; and I do seem to deal with more lows than I did with Omnipod. But I am one of those that say give me the lows rather than the highs.

I do so much better with Tandem than O5. I loathed everything about O5, including the pods themselves. (Bulky, painful, wasteful, absorption issues, etc...) Mostly I just couldn't get the insulin I needed out of O5. I have a really high basal split and don't take a lot of bolus insulin. O5 just isn't smart enough to learn that. It's entire algorithm is based on TDD, without ever actually learning your patterns.
Mobi and Control-IQ are awesome, though! We're Android compatibility and a few algorithm tweaks away from being my dream pump, and those are both coming soon.

Took some learning, but now it works great for me. Never tried any other pump, but I still haven't heard any reasons why I should try a different one. I don't think I would be into having both the pump and the infusion site as two separate things stuck to me with the Mobi. Maybe they'll come up with more streamlined adhesives though. The biggest thing for me is being able to handle situations like a hot yoga class or going to the gym and then throwing all my clothes in the locker and hitting the shower and sauna. I’ve been on the omnipod, and getting forced to change it every 3 days and the continuous irritating sound it makes to remove it is not for me. I will never use omnipod again, having that non removable brick hanging off your skin is horrible. The faster these companies learn that we don’t want pumps to forces us to do something the better for them. We want to be in control. I want to decide when to change my infusion set and not get forced to do it unless absolutely necessary. They treat us like we are stupid!! Anyway, Omnipod has a very stupid designed pumping mecanism that uses a lot of current by heating a Nitinol wire up that stretches when a voltage is applied to it and contracts when the current is removed. Thats the ticking sound while pumping and thats why it has to be changed every 3 days to prevent the 4 batteries it has in it not to die.

The tandem ability to alter you basal rates, sensitivity and carb ratios with profiles was KEY during PREGNANCY and the POSTPARTUM period. Your insulin needs can TRIPLE in pregnancy, so I took advantage of the profile settings to keep my BG control in range. Then after your deliver, if you're breastfeeding, you become very insulin sensitive, so I had a postpartum profile all set to go as soon as I delivered. @mildredbentler7459 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hybrid mode is when the pump and cgm communicate and the basal rate adjusts automatically with the sensor reading. If a pump is not in hybrid mode, it operates only on the programmed set basal rates. So to compare Omnipod 5 in manual mode to Mobi in hybrid mode is not a fair comparison. For reference, I am a trainer for all the currently available pumps.
