It sounds like mic-in on your camera had AGC - Automatic Gain Control. When you stop speaking, it turns the gain up until the noise is almost as loud as your voice. Cameras should have a setting 'Disable AGC', no?
10:01 I think you misunderstood. Yes, it can be a standalone recorder if it is not connected. But it can ALSO be a backup recorder when it IS connected. It would be insane not to have that feature. From the manual " When TX successfully pairs with RX and a TF card is detected, the audio will be automatically recorded on the TF card as a backup." Having said that, the sound quality seems poor: there is disk-writing noise? th-cam.com/video/MFX_Yep-lLY/w-d-xo.html
Another review with microSD card recorded sound is OK. There is some background noise, but I think it is actual birds (magpies?) in the background. May be sample-to-sample variation, or may depend on the (speed of the) card? th-cam.com/video/bpXBPA0bTEY/w-d-xo.html
Interesting. I haven't seen this in my manual. I have early version. I need to check if there are firmware updates or something. As you are right about not offering this. The thing was the video was previewed by hohem and they didn't raise this with me. So I'm stumped
@@notenoughtech When you connect the Tx+uSDcard to PC by USB, it mounts as a drive. There are two folders "BT录音"------The backup audio file recorded when the microphone TX and RX are connected “MIC录音”----The audio file recorded when the microphone recorder is connected (Standalone)
I have a Fulaim X5 which I use with my iPhone 12pm. Your Hohem sounds better! If you're going to do more mic reviews PLEASE have the majority of the audio from the review item and NOT something else. Far too many reviewers make this mistake.
I would use the mic in question, but as outlined in the video I had some problems. Initially, I recorded a version in which I scolded the DSLR aspect of it more, as I couldn't get usable audio until I used the LineIn option - hence I ended up with just samples rather than the majority of the video. Happy to submit some samples on request if you are not sure about something
@@notenoughtech just the sound and noise constellation as well. If you try this in crowded area, you can notice that your sound is cutting and it’s not clear.
Are you using noice cancellation set to max? I didn't like how it messes up the voice when used like this. I haven't tried it in a difficult environments. Lav mics are omni so they are a poor choice for that environment to be fair. But tested in noise controlled room without noise cancellation it was decent for the price. I'm currently testing rode wireless pro. But that's almost 400£
Thank Mat. Cheers.
My pleasure!
hey bro, it's better to compare with mic 2 which release date far closer. for some personal points you share, it can deal most of them.
Sadly... As the gadget was funded by myself I could only treat myself once

I had no setting for it. I checked pretty much all my audio options in the camera

Plz don’t buy hohem mic. I’m regretting.
What was the biggest let down in your opinion?
