Love my RC F, it’s my functional daily driver. It caters to a certain demographic.
Like I’ve heard someone say years ago, “you don’t buy a RC F because it’s the best in its class, you buy it simply because you want to.” That really sums it up.

It is more so the visceral sensation of the NA V8 and the luxury aspect of the RCF that people buy into and it is marketed as such. You want a pure performance coupe you purchase a Supra. There are luxury vehicles and segments that are more expensive but less powerful than other cheaper models - I don't quite understand how that can't make sense to you?

Most people would define a coupe as being a two-door vehicle while a sedan is a four-door. That's actually not the case, since coupes can have four doors and sedans can have two doors. The real difference lies in size.Sep 15, 2022

Historically, a sedan was a car that could be ordered in 2, 4, or 5 door configurations (the Chevy Corvair, Ford Falcon, Chevy II, Ford Cortina, etc. are all historic examples). We only think of sedans as being exclusively 4-doors because that's how most sedans today are sold. But, this is basically a 2-door GS (with some notable trickery to shorten the frame), so I don't think it's unreasonable to call it a 2-door sedan. Though, coupe is marginally more accurate since this car isn't technically sold in a 4-door variant (again, unless you count the GSF).

Not a FLOP would say they just fly under the radar. This is the same thing they said about the LFA and everybody ate their words. In a couple of years when these hit a certain bottom low price point you’re gonna start seeing them everywhere. People are gonna start scooping them up especially the younger generation. This car has everything that German competition has plus reliability. You can beat the living shit out of it and just have to change the oil that’s the beauty about these high-performance F cars. The only problem with the F brand is that they don’t stay competitive they make what they make and they leave it at that. This is kind of a Japanese thing look how long the Nissan GTR ran mostly unchanged.
The RCF is sick. it has it either a Love it or hate it design kind of like the new BMWs with their big grill. Either you like it or you don’t. But a RCF done nicely is hard to beat look wise.

A fully loaded LC500 coupe costs around $110,000 MSRP. A base 911 Carrera *without options* goes for $115,000. And now that you mention Aston Martin, the Lexus is probably less than half the price of any Aston currently on sale.

It's got the "different" factor going for it and a great exhaust note after adding a catback, but other than that...kind of hard to sell. The primary customer for a car like this would be a mature person who wants an attractive car that flies under the radar but has a a bit more power than the average car. It was very underwhelming to drive. I have 2019 RCF...one of only a couple in my area. Breaking necks damn near everyday because no one knows what it is and there's not one on every block. Not the fastest V8 but the but probably the most reliable V8 on the planet, and it can take some punishment. The 2UR-GSE has been around forever and Toyota/Lexus keeps refining it. The ISF, GSF, RCF and IS500 mate it to an 8-speed auto transmission, while the LC500 uses a 10-speed auto trans.

Actually the newer RCF’s actually have a touch screen and I personally find the new screen placement a-lot more aesthetically pleasing as well. Because it’s touchscreen they have brought the screen up and forward so it’s a-lot easier to reach and use, also is more attractive and engaging but not to much. I personally really love it over the deeply placed kinda hidden knob controlled design in previous years.

They know their customer base and are willing to sacrifice some sales to stay true to the brand.

They've been for awhile and they have had rr superchargers forever also. The only reason u don't see any turbo'd rcf's is because the enginebay is almost too tight for it,plus there's no one that's really taken a good step to turboing them anyway (was a rear mounted rcf awhile back but had bad results, little gains, and was quietly being sold off and didn't run anymore after it went dark).
