- While I was trying to investigate an easter egg on Crow's Nest I got a bit sidetracked and stumbled upon this room, I was curious and started investigating this room instead!

Considering there's no cutscene between Crow's Nest and Tsavo Highway, my guess is that there may have been some kind of cutscene planned to show the base exploding from the inside, hence the damages that don't appear anywhere else. The door could be labeled as Cortana because the dialogue she says at the end of the mission could've been planned to be implemented in this cutscene. That's my assumption anyway
I've always wanted to see what the Explosion would look like at the end of Crows Nest...

Noticing how when you go in the room it becomes darker and lighter based on where you stand it was probably used for lighting testing during cutscenes

I'm guessing that they didn't go with it because the game would have an 18+ A rating if Master Chief did indeed find Cortana's "g_spot" At least in an alternative universe Master Cheeks exists.
Honestly if for some reason they added an +18 secret cutscene the "I would have been your daddy" skull on legendary would be the one to activate it. lol
Thought this was going to be about the hidden gym with the basketball goals in the barracks, but this is amazing! great find.

maybe that cutscene trigger is related in some way to that Cortana vision the player has near that area?
Whoa this is super interesting, I've never heard anything about this room before! I think it's likely got something to do with the recently discovered cut mechanic where the chief's screen would be drawn towards certain locations/objects with a cortana effect. I guess all things considered, it's not that hard to believe it took gamers 16 years to find the g-spot XD
It's going to be really annoying punching that destroyed warthog all the way to that door.

Could it maybe be related to the cut beta prototype of the Cortana flashbacks/effects in Halo 3? Lord Zedd has a video on it (search up "Halo 3 prototype Cortana effect" in YT), where instead of being a flashback triggered at a certain point, you instead have to seek out the flashback based off of your screen distorting the closer you get to it.
What makes me think of that is the door here being called "Cortana Door," so maybe the original intent was to have this hidden flashback effect behind this door, and the player would have to get into it? Just a thought!

Super interesting door, maybe it was a scrapped idea. Perhaps that was going to be an exit to the map and the devs just had it there a place holder. That or just maybe the devs were super bored and just wanted to put the G-spot behind Cortana's door because "hahahahaha lewd joke about cortabo."

My guess is it's cut from when they originally had you trying to save civilians through Voi. At least that's what the cut dialogue implies

Im pretty sure Termacious Trickocity might of found it ages ago. Just like the forklift gate glitch on Nightfall, not many people know that you can apply that method to every game anywhere. If you have a vehicle you can lean it against a wall and glitch through it, OR, you can use a deployable cover to launch through solid walls like what speedrunners do

I wonder what Bungie was planning this room to be used for. I would assume loading assets beyond player view, but that wouldn't explain why they didn't just use a plain room instead of a room with details used nowhere else.
Maybe someone who worked on this mission back in 2004-7 will stumble upon this video and provide more context.
