A majority of Cortana is reused from a cut Halo 3 level named Floodship which would've taken place after Floodgate which is probably why, the geometry is suppose to be of the ship that crash lands on Earth
@@Kashiierahonestly a remake of this level, but with more locations from Halo 2 would probably help it stand out. It just needs more flood biomass and maybe the ruins of In Amber Clad
@@yugene-leewould halo 3 be pushing the 360s limits? I mean the console had only been out for a few years right? Like halo 4 in my opinion was reallly pushing the 360s limits I think.
That’s what I was thinking too! So cool to see where the areas connect given we went through one door on the right in 2 and then the door on the left in 3
CPT Blargington. I wonder if somebody could remake the Halo 2 parts of High Charity that're through the other doors using Halo 3 graphics? It'd be kinda cool to explore all of High Charity without Flood gunk all over the place.
This is what was missing for me in Halo 3. I wish we spent less time in generic old human bunkers and had more time seeing covenant architecture like we saw in halo 1 and 2. I can't believe cortana is the only level inside a covenant ship, and u can't even see what it looked like until now, lol.
Fax, there was a lot of potential to explore more exotic locations on The Ark or other Covenant architecture through the allegiance with the Swords of Sanghelios but instead half of the game was spent in underground 1960s locations. Definitely made the game too "contemporary", when Halo's environments from before (especially CE) were always stellar. It really does suck how the only time it gets interesting is right at the end, where you only have The Ark, The Covenant and Halo to enjoy it. They're great, but Halo 3 should've focused on the space aesthetic that made those original missions from the first 2 games so great. Had they expanded on the Halo 2 E3 city concept with the sense of verticality it would have been a great compromise if the Earth missions had to remain.
@OsterDog I totally agree, and even tho I do like the forerunner stuff in halo 3, it wasn't as good as ce, it was too well lit and didn't have enough color. The level halo looked really good tho
I agree, its my biggest complaint about halo 3. I love the mysterious and beautiful vibes of halo 1 and 2 and halo 3 feels a lot more generic with old human bunkers that just look ugly
I'd love to one day see a redesign of the level reminiscent of High Charity from Halo 2. The level we ended up with was originally supposed to be the inside of the Flood infested Covenant cruiser from Floodgate. The second half of Floodgate was cut and repurposed to Cortana due to time constraints.
Damn, the High Charity suite always hits straight in the feels... Thanks for showcasing this, it's so sad the Cortana level suffered from this much time constraint and what was supposed to be another level, this level could have had such a HUGE emotional and pivotal impact on the overall arc, it's such a wasted potential... It's an ok level, but never feels like High Charity invaded by the Flood
I thought this was going to be a complete rework of the level to actually makemit fun, but this is nice too. Interesting to see it all cleaned up, nice work.
Mint Blitz sent me over, and I am NOT DISAPPOINTED. You deserve the world and more, for bringing to life an aspect of Halo that the fans never thought we'd see done, at least, incredibly satisfactory. And this is so much more than that. Seeing this, immediately transported me back to 2001, having that same giddy excitement. Can't wait to see what this evolves into. Sincerely, thank you.
It looks so good and clean ! I wish Bungie worked more on making a real High Charity instead of Crow's Nest and Tsavo Highway... And as someone else pointed, I never noticed that Cortana's room was actually the Prophets's room !
Interesting to see Halo 3 High Charity without the biomass. I'm also reminded of the cut version of High Charity for Halo 3 that I've recently been obsessed with.
Well did you know originally the level Cortana was gonna be before you went to the ark where you have to blow up an infected covenant flood ship, but they scrapped it also the level Cortana for high charity there was gonna be a fight with the infected mono lisa of arbiters that was scrapped along with a boss fight with the gravemind along using a Cortana scarab to take him out which is ashamed really that a lot of games had some cut content still in the files of them and you can't even know what is buried inside the games we play.
Seeing this reminds me of how starved of Covenant architecture and aesthetics I've been pretty much sense Halo 2. Halo 3 covered it all with Flood goop and the later games didn't have any Covenant-themed levels besides one in Halo 5 and a brief stint on the Covenant Corvette in Reach. I just want more purple with glowy lights, IS THAT TOO MUCH TO ASK?
Heavens this is amazing! Is this a mod available to DL? Gosh, this would be such a welcome change. I always skip this level in halo 3 because its an absolute eyesore and makes me nauseous.
Makes me wish they kept the original Halo 2 High Charity design. Halo 3's always felt a little too small and cramped compared to 2.

I wonder how possible it would be using H2A's assets with a mix of the Halo 3 ones. @@gabethebabe3337
On top of what Kiera said, you could also say the Xbox 360 was still the 360 and Halo 3 was still pushing it's limits for the time

Janitor better be getting paid overtime
Wouldn't be a halo co-op level if you didn't give your buddy an undeserved smack, lol
Ngl i was expecting an infected mausoleum in cortana’s level

The areas with big gaps would probably be connected via light bridge or grav track.

GOD I wish we saw more Halo 3 covenant architecture. The art in this game is so strong it manages to look gorgeous without today's graphical fidelity

Saves the level from constantly looking like Lasagna layered with bugs
if only we could get some more ceiling space to replicate the grandeur of High Charity, rather than settling for this repurposed carrier interior
The OG footstep sounds are so nostalgic for me ❤
I wonder what Cortana might play like if it actually used in part the High Charity map from Halo 2, rather than Halo 3...

Pursuit of truth/ charity's irony was the best track to play at the beginning
I was today years old when I realized that Cortana was trapped in the Prophets Personal Chambers

Incredible what the halo community is capable of. Bungie members who worked on halo must be so proud of you all

I mean, it doesn't feel like a rehash of Floodgate at this point. I don't think this fixes the map's overall problems but it is better.
