I watch on my tv so I looooove when you put the names of the designs etc on the screen as the show notes are not readily available. But surely understand if it takes too long in the editing. 🌼🌼🌼

Thank you for yet another wonderful and relaxing episode. 💖💖💖 The colors for your sister-in-law's shawl are fantastic 👌. Your Elton sweater will be gorgeous. I laughed when you talked about having framed yarn around your house - I've been thinking about buying a glass cabinet for mine so I can enjoy it more.😄

regarding your swatching with the nutiden; I like the darker swatch for you instead of the paler one... but you look better in cool colors I think, so maybe theres another mohair color that could go with it in a darker but cooler tone of brown? the white ranunculus is very pretty and soft looking, lucky friend! dont forget you were going to do a podcast showing all your vests, its coming on Fall and that might be a good topic soon! thank you for the podcast today!

Thanks for sharing all your swatching, so many people skip that and I love to see the process. I like the warmer/redder brown I think. I am going to try my first ranunculus sweater holding a strand a fingering and a strand of suri alpaca/silk. Thanks for the yarn substitution talk on this.

I did not like My Brilliant Friend either. Been reading The Invention of Nature, chronically Humboldts travels and thoughts. For rustic yarns I recommend soaking it overnight with a cup of apple cider vinegar and then rinse out. This is what we did in the 1970s and 1980s when everything was rustic.

Hi Selma! I enjoyed your discussion of the ranunculus. I’m about to cast-on my second, and I’m going to try regular ribbing, instead of the twisted, as you have done. Also, I’ll look forward to seeing your finished Elorie! It’s on my list of things to knit, too. Beautiful design.

Just swatching for my first Ranunculus! One strand of Manos Serena and a second of Rowan Kidsilk, first time since almost forever knitting with mohair! The Serena is I believe a sport to dk, so trying US 10 needles for lack of a better place to start! I have to say that your enthusiasm for this pattern has made me decide to do this as the original pattern photos aren’t my bag! Time will tell!
Per your swatch, I think I love the lighter cooler brown color, just lovely with your hair and coloring!
And the DuMaurier books I’d read and reread many years ago, love the Yorkshire moors!❤️🧶🍁
PS: just shared the 🦉 with my husband 👏

Selma loving your videos. I like the brown with the bobbles. Any color you make will be lovely on you. Thank you for the Ranunculus yarn talk. I am going to be doing my 3 rd soon. Thinking I will post my FO on your KAL. How is your son at University? Home has changed I am sure. Our 3 have all gone but when the first left the dynamics changed so much and I felt lost until Christmas holidays but when he returned after New Years it all seemed right.

Hi Selma, always look forward to your videos! I liked looking around wabi sabi…. Neat store. Of course Barefoot McCoy is the best……Loved seeing the owl and the cat picture at the end! My cat Maury looks like your cat Yoda who I’ve seen several times. I have looked on Raverly as you suggested for the various yarn versions of the Renunculus ….will have to make one of those. Hope you have a great day, until we see you again.

I had the same problem with Elena Ferrante characters.
Unfortunately Italians are so negative and still very influenced by neo-realism that is a reality that my mom generation has lived for real and has marked all the people so strongly!
    ( I know I don’t look like , but I am Italian!)
I loved my cousin Rachel… I read it 30 years ago!
A good Italian book is the solitude of prime numbers by Paolo Giordano ( you can find it in the library in English)

Hello Selma from Airdrie in Alberta. I think the darker, richer brown would look good on you. (The lighter is washing you out)And I agree that blue grey is your fabulous neutral. You can wear in any intensity of this colour. Light like in your summer top, medium like in your future project and I bet a darker steel blue would be great for you as well. Great episode, Selma! I’ve been getting into colour theory lately (perhaps to my detriment, but that’s another story…), so when you held the two browns up to your face, I really noticed a difference. When you held up the darker colour, I noticed more red tones in your skin, but when you held up the lighter one, your skin looked creamy, and your eyes more bright. Of course, that could also be how the camera is processing the colours. Oh, and I’m betting you will start a ranunculus tunic before the end of the year. 😆😆😆

I just love the lighter brown on you, but I have to say that blue is definitely your colour. I am so pleased I am not the only one that doesn't read the pattern properly, I had to tink 3 times last night just because I didn'r read it properly.

  • @CassieDA17
    @CassieDA17 3 ปีที่แล้ว

On the video I think the redder brown looks better with your skin than the beige brown.
The Ranunculus is a great sweater. It amazes me that one pattern fits so many sizes. I made a long sleeve one in worsted weight and another short sleeve one In a linen blend DK and used smaller needles to make it smaller. It also surprisingly uses a low amount of yards. I love it!

I watched the Elena Ferrante series and loved it and then read the books. Enjoyed the books but they do take a bit of thinking mostly because there are so many characters it was hard to keep track of all the interrelationships. Like you I don’t understand the friendship. It’s so competitive and destructive in so many ways.

I so enjoyed spending time with you again Selma. I think your choices in knitwear style suit me too, and you always make me want to cast on all of them!
I knitted the ranunculus in Rowan felted tweed, I have one on the needles in Lettlopi, and now I want a white one! … and I have had some Bendigo Woollen Mill natural merino worsted weight in my stash for a long time which I think could make a tunic! Yours is just gorgeous, and I’m sure your friend will be delighted to have it. I think the rich dark brown with the Nutiden would make a beautiful moody sweater for winter and would suit your colouring. Thanks again for an interesting and inspiring podcast.

This is my first visit to your channel. The Ranunculus #5 caught my eye. I'm just about to start my first Ranunculus. We're in lockdown so I'm waiting for my yarn to be delivered. Enjoyed your chat.

Funny how we seems to like the same things and knitting. I`we knitted 3 Flex tops, and 5 Ranunculus.(5 of them is gifted)My last knit was M.Isagers "Solen" the small version.
I also share the love of linnenyarn. I agree your opinion on E.Ferrantes book. Nr 1 was ok,but struggled with nr 2. I might see the film, and try again for the book. Love your podcasts. Greetings from Northern Norway. (i also like the lighter brown)💖

Just want to mention as many others have. I so DO appreciate the time and effort you take to Put info/notes in text with links under your videos. It is so nice not to have to hunt down things or try and find the links/purchase info . Thank You for saving me time . I did order the Chicken mug 'Gertie' you showcase.. I could not resist... just makes me smile. Much enjoy your Podcast. Thank You from Wisconsin. Sibl .

Thank you for yet another fantastic podcast! With all the projects and yarns you talk about I can't help it....I just have to drop everything and sit down to knit, knit, knit! I love the golden color in your Elorie! As for your brown yarns, I'd go for the cocoa brown. It's like hot chocolate, perfect for winter days!

Sitting here in quarantine and up popped your new podcast - what fabulous timing - new cast on on my needles and a great show to watch - fire burning and raining outside as we experience the last of winter (in spring) here in south west Australia. love the darker brown on you!
