I just had an awesome idea for this that would go along with your chaos theme. You can call these Pop Khornes! I had another idea too that I think would be hilarious. Make a small fast cheap spam-able melee ship and call them Khorne Flakes!
Could you put a blueprint builder (or whatever it's called) at the front and have it hold nukes+control block combo craft (a craft purely made of say, 2 nukes, 1 wooden block and a control block) in stasis say 20 meters in front of the craft, and have them detonate when they are in range of an enemy? It would allow the crafts to damage multiple enemies, and stay active, thus dramatically increasing their effectiveness. Don't quote me however, as I have only the barest of knowledge in from the depths. Thanks for reading.
Need to time it out really well. The blueprint spawner can hold onto designs at high speeds, but it will drop the target once completed. Docking beams can hold the target in stasis as suggested, but stop functioning when the craft they're on exceeds 30m/s. Also, I think docked units have weird collision interactions, in that they are prone to not doing damage at all on impact.

when i tried a kamikaze vehicle (before the nuke was added) i used max gauge, max length high explosive shells in their shell holders for the warhead, maybe if you wanted to add some frags, flak, HE or maybe even EMP to this craft for some extra cost, you could do that for even bigger BOOM
it looks so simple, and yet trying to make something like an aircraft fly into an enemy is so hard to get consistent without harpoons. When they aren't casually avoiding collisions when collision avoidance is off and flying away from things when set to ram them I'm not surprised so many of the rammers have other things to ensure they actually make contact.
A fun little craft I made was a 3x5x6 with a harpoon missile and a nuke. The craft would be spawned by a bomber then pull itself into the target. I'm a bad builder so I would be interested to see what you would do with a concept like this.
Will Roberts I made a fighter with like 200 missles , all harpoons , and when it hit it flies into space carrying all grabbed craft until harpoon breaks , it was hilarious
The ICBM from gray talons (easy thruster raft) and in the Asher of the Empire there's a cool steel empire craft (Polaris) that is essentially a tank that shoots out a single nuke using the subvehicle spawner (no target prediction though)

Like it dives below the enemy ship, and pulls up towards the middle? Also I just had a thought what if instead it dived under the enemy, and used rams above it to slice up the bottom of the ship? Try this design: A massive, ten block missile with EMP warheads and harpoon blocks. get the bare minimum to turn it into an aircraft (in my case, wings, a small jet, a 1 cylinder engine, and an AI with a single camera, and a couple wood beams) and have the harpoon winch right next to a tactical nuke. preferably at the back. This way, when the harpoon hits, it pulls to jet backwards into the enemy, sometimes lifting the other craft into the air because its thrusting the other way, and then nukes, doing tons of damage, for not much material cost.
have you considered setting up the nukes as a spar torpedo? Essentially, fit the payload to a beam/swing arm attached to a spin block, with an ACB to swing it out into position when the craft gets into a particular range (ideally about a second before impact). This would let you keep the payload behind armour until the last second, and improve the survivability of the craft somewhat. Also, a historical model that I, at least, think is rather cool.
Hey Lathrix, if you were to add a sub vehicle spawner would you be able to turn it into a nuclear mine layer? Since you rarely get to use mines or build dedicated mine layers, It would be interesting to see how well it turns out for you. Also because drunk building a nuclear mine layer could never go wrong :P

Ah, the glory of "guided missiles." I know someone who could teach you a thing or two about ICBMs in FtD, he even made one with a functional warp drive! Also, with the enemy proximity setting, I think the main factor in question is the enemy's center of mass. So long as the CoM is in range the ACB will activate. Not sure on this, so test it out.
You should do a challenge on a regular campaign were you put a nuke on every one of your ships you build, and try to destroy the enemy completely without blowing up the nuke.

You should replace the nukes with a huge drill. Drills are extremely underestimated. If you make them correctly, they will slice through the enemies like they are butter and the drill is a hot knife
you should add a 250mm cannon without a barrel but with ejectors so it shoots all the shells at the enemy when you ram them. the best shell for this is probally a 250 mm hollowpoint, 2 he and 1 flak and no gunpowder
also its really funny that i made a nuclear rammer this morning before you uploaded the video. i made a knight on hover horse with a nuclear lance for 4.5k materials
hey lath, use more nukes, more nukes makes more explosion radius. the nuke is the only block that multiplies the explosion radius if you have more nukes

The 30/ms limit kinda ruins it though.sadly my noobishness has let me down again.:/.Anyway, the repair tentacles was a good idea and I probably should have though of it, but regardless, thanks for responding. Anyway, the idea was to hold only one at a time in stasis, then repair and creat a new one once the previous one has detonated. As for the speed limit, perhaps it could be applied to a slower, bomber like craft, that flies over the enemies and drops the bombs onto them? Once done, the bombs refill similar to mines? is it possible to use the warp drive and warp a nuke inside the enemy ship? for maximum damage. you could set the ship to warp 5 or 10 blocks foward as soon as it hits the target
SO we know that this works but I was wondering if you could make your own missiles using the sub vehicle spawner, something like spawning in a guided rocket that only have one object of hitting the craft, you wouldn't even need to use much resource since it wouldn't need locomotion aside form the initial take off and turning.
you could try to add a very simple anti missile system to the nuke thingy cuz at the very begining of the fight the enemy will have the most missiles available to them leading to some very efficient anti missiles and after the nuke exploded i dont think there will be much left that is able to fire missiles at your other crafts

Lath i noticed that you are using the single block batteries, I did a bit of testing and i found that the amount of stored energy is more if you use the Beam type, the space to power ratio is the highest of all batteries

yeah kinda wished it did set dmg, or had different versions of nukes with different yealds, higher the yeald the more dmg but less range ( i know thats not how nukes work but that could be a way to balance it...)
I use the nuke with a extremely tiny balloon craft, i then fire a harpoon missile and ride the balloon until it gets close, then i jump and wha-pow i got a nice entry hole!

Lath, it might make sense to build a craft which can construct and launch these 'missiles' at the enemy like a carrier might launch fighters. That way instead of having to build a bunch by hand and putting them in fleets, you just have 1 ship you build which can construct and fire these nuclear skimmers at whim. If that's even possible, I'm not sure.
Put a whole bunch of nukes on the front it rips the most heavily armored ships to shreds and sometimes splits them in half I have a ship 25 wide and the armor is at the weakest 3 thick and normally 5 thick and I hit it with 7 nikes and it was split in half
dear lord, with wing blocks instead of hydrofoils, that could catch a squirrel, but what happened to a heavy nose and a tether missile for ramming and digging in for piracy? lol
I'm still trying to make my first thrustercraft. It works fine but it doesnt fly to the altitude that i set for it. I would've asked this on Lathlands old thrustercraft tutorial video but I seriously doubt that anyone would respond. I'd like some help if anyone knows how to fix it.
I don't actually play this game, I doubt my machine could handle it very well, but watching this video I do wonder if adding more nukes would make a bigger bang (for huge ships and/or fortresses) and whether a ram/drill on the front to get your ship into the heart of the enemy ship for a more effective bang would work any better?
I only have about 300 hours in this game but I can give you some answers. 1. There are nukes in-game from enemy factions that have multiple nukes and seem to do more damage. 2. Rams would work really well, but the vehicle might get stuck in the enemy if it doesn't do enough damage. 3. I don't think drills are affected by velocity, and they take up engine power and space, their only advantage is that they can do damage past hitting the enemy, but it is only useful or larger and more armoured ships. Overall the nukes look cool. The rams might be reusable though and it could be interesting to see enemies getting split into half. Edit: I misread your question. The impact of a ram might set the nuke off early and the ACB on the vehicle would detonate the nuke early anyways. I don't think it would be possible on Glao ships since the enemies are too small and as previously mentioned would just split into half from the impact. More Edit: ACB delay. I'm an idiot.
what i would have done is a heavy armored ship thats fast with a lot of nukes get it next to the enemy ship or fleet have a powerful cannon ship that i control away form the fleet fire and just watch all the nukes go off destroying the enemy fleet
and what happens if you put the nuke on a around 10 block long arm and then add many repair bots in tfe back or like a repair platform/station in the back of your front line?

Another idea would be to put repair tentacles on it so that after the nuclear explosion it would repair itself and target another enemy.

Check out the Polaris from Ashes of the Empire (steel empire ship). It's a land vehicle that uses the sub vehicle spawner to fire nukes.

If you want them to be much, much more efficient and... boom, add autoloader payload. 500mm, ammo ejectors, full HE warhead. Everything dies.
Lath, it might make sense to build a craft which can construct and launch these 'missiles' at the enemy like a carrier might launch fighters. That way instead of having to build a bunch by hand and putting them in fleets, you just have 1 ship you build which can construct and fire these nuclear skimmers at whim. If that's even possible, I'm not sure.

Put a whole bunch of nukes on the front it rips the most heavily armored ships to shreds and sometimes splits them in half I have a ship 25 wide and the armor is at the weakest 3 thick and normally 5 thick and I hit it with 7 nikes and it was split in half

lathrix, why not make a bunch of fast wooden ships that give a good punch but they are almost unhittable thanks to their extreme speed?

I'm still trying to make my first thrustercraft. It works fine but it doesnt fly to the altitude that i set for it. I would've asked this on Lathlands old thrustercraft tutorial video but I seriously doubt that anyone would respond. I'd like some help if anyone knows how to fix it.
I think it's name should be the portal hopper or the realm bouncer because it's in between the water realm and the air
I don't actually play this game, I doubt my machine could handle it very well, but watching this video I do wonder if adding more nukes would make a bigger bang (for huge ships and/or fortresses) and whether a ram/drill on the front to get your ship into the heart of the enemy ship for a more effective bang would work any better?
I only have about 300 hours in this game but I can give you some answers.
1. There are nukes in-game from enemy factions that have multiple nukes and seem to do more damage.
2. Rams would work really well, but the vehicle might get stuck in the enemy if it doesn't do enough damage.
3. I don't think drills are affected by velocity, and they take up engine power and space, their only advantage is that they can do damage past hitting the enemy, but it is only useful or larger and more armoured ships.
Overall the nukes look cool. The rams might be reusable though and it could be interesting to see enemies getting split into half.
Edit: I misread your question. The impact of a ram might set the nuke off early and the ACB on the vehicle would detonate the nuke early anyways. I don't think it would be possible on Glao ships since the enemies are too small and as previously mentioned would just split into half from the impact.

what i would have done is a heavy armored ship thats fast with a lot of nukes get it next to the enemy ship or fleet have a powerful cannon ship that i control away form the fleet fire and just watch all the nukes go off destroying the enemy fleet

and what happens if you put the nuke on a around 10 block long arm and then add many repair bots in tfe back or like a repair platform/station in the back of your front line?
