They both bring love and joy and respect too the table , regardless of disability isn’t that the point , foot note , I’ve been married to my darling for 31 years , I had a traumatic brain injury 8 years ago and I now have cancer , but my darling girl still loves me the same even if I’m not as fit as before , that’s love ❤, that’s marriage 😊
I finally got to the end of this video, and please thank Joe - and you - for discussing the supposed fragility of your body. I had similar worries/fears with my wife too. A lil different for CP vs SCI, as it is more about stiffness of parts of her body, but certainly the same fear of popping a shoulder/elbow/wrist out of joint, and worrying about how her arm was placed. I love my wife, and it’s been 42 wonderful years of marriage. Thanks Brittney and Joe!
You two are awesome! You two have true love and respect for each other and it shows in both your glowing personalities! Congratulations on your 10 year Anniversary! I am a new subscriber to your channel and YES! I watched the whole video through. I am learning so very much from your videos Brittany. Thank you for being candid, honest and caring to help others. I am a senior citizen and going through changes in my life as aging can bring on serious health issues and you have helped me face them more courageously! Thank YOU! Abundant Blessings to you and your family.
Why thank you! Glad to have you as a subscriber! Aging is hard and seniors are the largest group of individuals with acquired disabilities. It's difficult to loose independence after years of being capable of doing things without help. Hang in there! You are stronger than you think!
So cute! Congratulations on 10 years and many more to come. Yes I did watch all the way through...your so real and honest how could you not watch it all.
1 my first time watching. Like your honesty about your inter-abled life. We face challenges all our life. I am dealing with aging and I complain loudly. Then I remember how precious the gift of life is. There is always joy to be found in each day.
I'm a handicap man age 42, walk with cruches, life has it's up and downs, but we all must plow forward in life, so the corn can grow behind us, I grew up on a farm, God bless you both 🙏 ❤
I thought the thing that draws us in and keeps us subscribers coming back to watch every video was your expressive eyes, but I think that it is also how animated you are when you are describing things. You are unique!
Just stumbled across this video and I am so impressed with you both and appreciate all the openness that you share. You guys are the real deal!❤ I've been married for 26 years and I have a mental illness. My husband is my biggest fan 💓 it doesn't matter what our obstacles are, if someone really loves YOU, you can get through anything together! Mental or physical❤
What a great video. I suffered a SCI 54 years ago as a young child. You have described almost exactly what my wife (who is able-bodied) went through as we established a relationship and ultimately married. Even little comments like keeping the house warm and the Toyota Sienna SE being a vehicle of choice.
Its been so lovely hearing your stories. I watched it all as I didn't want to miss anything but I did watch it in 2 sections. You are very pretty and he is spunky. And I liked how he spoke so positively about his parents. That tells me why he treats you so respectfully.
You two are just beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing your story and journey, and for doing so in such a candid, engaging and loving way. Truly inspirational and heartwarming.
I loved this video! Y’all are so cute together!!! Loved hearing about how y’all met and the struggles of getting to know one another. #1 for making it all of the way through! Much love from Oklahoma, USA 💗💗💗
Honestly it’s refreshing to find someone that treats you like a normal human. I don’t think I’ll ever find that, but it’s alright I’m fine with being alone. Sometimes though I want to find what others have.
@@EmpoweredPara I can imagine that it was scary. People are usually very private about bathroom stuff and are taught to not talk about it, that all goes out the window though when you have to cath and do your bowel program. My sci isn’t complete but I think it’s getting worse because my legs will go dead and then I cannot feel them for a few hours. When feeling returns it hurts worse that before. I’m probably not explaining it well.
@@EmpoweredPara I had to have a bladder sling put in and was told to wear depends for a while so no cathing right now. When I go back to doing it I hope it won’t hurt.
you guys are great and I hope more people follow their heart as you two have. I have cp and lived with my parents until I was 47. I met a girl through a friend that was also handicapped due to an auto accident. She got me on my own after a few, "dates." Unfortunately, she lost her legs from lymphedema . Gradually she required more assistance and I just jumped right in. My parents thought I was crazy but if it wasn't for her, I would have ended up in a group home or something. she taught me a lot.
1. It was easy watching the whole video, because it was all about genuine love and respect. The topic was interesting, but the underlining theme of your love was what I really needed today. I needed to know that even though I never found my soulmate, it does exist. I would’ve been miserable if I settled for less. You made my day❤.
I saw one of your other videos and wondered how you were travelling through life. I am delighted to see how complete your life is, a beautiful part of a loving family. Every one has ups and down, your 'down' was far deeper than most people's, but your personality won. No wonder, your husband is a lucky man, and knows the fact. Most people have lucky breaks and bad breaks, I was lucky my spinal issues were treated in time allowing me to walk unaided again; my wife's cancers were twice treated in time, the third time not so lucky, but we had nearly 48 years of married life. With your attitude, personality, and energy, you look set for a bright future together. People often dwell on what I shall politely term the 'biological consequences' of eating and living, they should remember those consequences are part of being alive and deal with the matter. You eloquently showed how perfectly you accepted the need for solutions, preventing needs from being a problem. Live life to the full, seek out, and employ solutions to avoid problems, the alternative is worse.
Still one of the most enjoyable of all of your videos! So great to hear your hubby talk so honestly and openly about all the things that lead to a successful and long-lasting marriage!
my wife and are going on 15 yrs together so i could relate to most of your questions/concerns....she is a T10 para 35 yrs. Love your openness and honesty. Hope it helps someone find true love!
As I've been a subscriber to Zack's YT channel for awhile (Zack's a quadriplegic), I became curious as to what other interabled-couples may be on YT. When I searched on YT, this video came up as one of the results. I'm glad I decided to click itl^^ Appreciate both of you guys being open and candid (as much as you could legally^^) Congrats on your 10-year anniversary!
What an amazing couple,so open and both so lovable,, although you may not know it but you bounce of each other almost comically,,, just keep on doing what you do together and in life 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧regards and respect John 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧UK
I love this video because I can relate to so much of it! Congratulations on your anniversary! My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary last August. We had dated for almost four years when I was injured racing motocross in June of 1995. She supported and encouraged me during my recovery and never once thought of leaving me. She is a true blessing! If we ever had an opportunity to meet you and your husband, I'm sure we would have some fantastic stpries to share!
Great video as usual. I love her attitude, openess, and confidence. In response to a wheelchair being an issue in deciding to start a relationship, I can see that it's something that both people would have to discuss as you both said. But when you think about it, or when I think about it, your not dating the chair, your dating the person in the chair. If you have feelings or love that person the chair should not matter. What if the injury occurred after marriage. I would hope the other person wouldn't leave because of the chair. And as we get older we are all going to have some condition that will require our spouse to help out. That's just part of aging being married. Hope this makes sense.
Makes complete sense! I think you're right, the chair shouldn't be a factor. The difference with dating and marriage is that if the injury happens after you're married you have already made those vows. With dating the person gets to decide if they want to make the vows. I would hope that the wheelchair wouldn't scare someone away but in reality it does. luckily there are good people out there that don't get scared away.
I never understood the part (21:40) where Joe says you are so much more independent now than when you met, until I watched your “A look back on 2023 and a history of my most important milestones” video. Because I didn’t realize that gaining all those skills took you many years. I’m not sure why I thought you had mastered all those skills and the resultant independence so soon after your injury. I guess just how you present yourself on your videos. Now it has all come together in so many ways. I like how, over time, you fill in the blanks for me/us.
This direct, clear, frank communication is very informative and important. A lot of social issues and stigmas can be dispelled by demystifying subjects like this. Thank you both.
I'm 63 and would never have had a problem with a girl with this disability. If I'd loved them, that's all that would have mattered. I've been with able bodied women that have grossed me out with their ways. I've been married but have never found true love. I feel really sad about it. I'm alone now and doubt I'll ever find it now. You two clearly love each other. That's wonderful x. I watched the whole episode too.
Hi , watched a couple of your 10min vids and was surprised how interested I was in wanting to watch more. I am a healthy 61 y/o guy from Australia , just curious to have a look and congrats to you on the way you do your vids. The way you openly answer questions and not just skirt around the edges so to speak. I did watch this vid all the way to the end and was not bored or wanting it to finish so great work. Also congrats on your 10th wedding anniversary , great to see the way you too are so happy together. Cheers.
You two are so cute together!!! Thank you both for opening up and sharing as you are helping more people than you realize. You are truly seem to be a very very close couple
Looking at my own situation and experiences, worrying about what to do 30-40 years down the road is useless. You can both start out perfectly healthy and “able” but, as we all know, excrement occurs and before you know it one of you is in special circumstances. A friend of mine who is not very healthy to begin with, fell down some stairs, shattered her knee and has had her leg amputated above the knee. Her husband is a really great guy who loves her to bits and he now has a lot to deal with but love conquers all (more or less).
A serious video with comedy relief. Parts of this video had me dying of laughter. I love you guys congratulations on making the video together that's so cool.
I just found your channel... have to say you are a great couple and I LOVE your hubby... what a real guy! I'm a subscriber now... look forward to your downloads!
My 37 year old daughter was fell out of a tree about a month ago and is now an asia a complete paraplegic. I know she has benefited from watching your videos and so have I ! Just wanted to send a quick thank you to you and Joe and send you and your famiky wishes for a very happy holiday season. Appreciate you!! ❤
There a things you can do to recover. I know it's much much easier to just say Doctor told me I will never walk again. I woke up completely paralysed hut I refused to listen to doctors and went my own way. And I am walking now. Yeah sure very badly but I broke free from quadriplegia. Repetition is the key reconnecting disconnected nerves. BTW I dont have a SCI.. probably worse part of my brain was removed.. thus the quadriplegia.. but I largely reversed it
Fun and well put together video. What grade do you teach? And, yes, strange how you “we” can feel bladder sensation (strange sensation), but nothing else!
Ok Thanks for the answer , I worked out in Alberta for a few years, I know the Area you are from, I live in the Province of New Brunswick, You found yourself a good man
1 ... all day long. Nice to meet you both. For some reason TH-cam pointed me to your How I Go To The Bathroom video the other day, so that was the first one I watched. Really interesting. Being married to a man with two bags, we have had our experiences with accidents over the years, but we've learned to take everything in stride. A good attitude goes a long way.
You only need to look at how she looks at him to know that she loves her husband very much. Intimacy is something she will enjoy simply because she is being loved by the man she loves.
I used to be a bit awkward around "handicapped" people until I became one. Before my injury I was completely "capable" in a physical sense. I'm a mechanic, carpenter, outdoorsman, etc, and really loved participating in sports, especially tennis. I used to ride wheelies on my Honda CBR900RR just for fun. I happened to be on that bike when I crossed paths with a careless driver that changed my life big-time. That was 21 years ago, the same year the towers went down in NYC. I'm no longer awkward around "handicapped" people because I'm quite experienced at being one now. I guess what I'm trying to say is that we shouldn't look at others with disabilities as though they had the plague, because you could easily find yourself in this position at no fault of your own. Take care you two! Hope you have many happy fulfilled years together, supporting each other no matter what comes your way. God bless!!!
I was sooooo awkward around people with disabilities before I was paralyzed. And even after I was paralyzed I was awkward for a few years. I didn't feel like I belonged in the disability world. So glad I got over that and made disability a part of my new identity. Game changer
@@EmpoweredPara I didn't learn until my injury that I'm not the fallible shell that can no longer defy gravity, but I'm the eternal being (ghost in the machine) that's living a temporal experience in this Physical realm. Billions have physically come and gone before we were born in the flesh and this will continue indefinitely, but none are lost as we all return to the Father upon our departure from this tabernacle. I can't say that I understand what happens at that point, as I don't yet have experience in that realm, but I'm certain that we all return to the Being that we're made in the image and likeness of. I learn more each day of how awesome we are and also the lengths that some will go in hiding these Truths from us. The TRUTH TRULY SETS FREE! God bless you and your family Britney!!! ❤️
I know this video is a year old, but I just found your channel and have been watching a ton of your videos. I really appreciate how open and honest you are. I was born with Spina Bifida. I am 36 and married now, but went through some of the same things you talk about in many of your videos(I get out of bed at night to pee though haha). Thank you for your channel, and keep oversharing to strangers asking if you can have sex. It's the number one question I get as well. It amazes me that people have the gall to ask that, especially when they first meet me. Take care!
Great job! When I proposed to my wife, I did it from my wheelchair. After she said 'yes' I smiled and said "I hope you know what you're getting into." 🤣🤣🤣
I stumbled upon this video while searching for your stretching video but I couldn’t remember the name of your channel, but now I am a subscriber!! This May will be three years I’ve been in my wheelchair and I find your videos are Great including today’s video!!!
Thank you:) I am so glad that you like my videos! I don't want anyone to ever feel as lost or alone as I felt when I was first paralyzed. If you have any suggestions for videos I'd love to hear them!
Truth is truth no matter how you look at it. Kids aren't stupid, its the adults who are. always speak your truth and if that offends someone, its their problem not yours.
1 Yes most people think disabled are helpless. My sisters and I get this all the time. They are amazed we get ourselves up on our own just because we are blind. But we so everything sighted doesn’t. We just do it with filling.
I have been atracted to disabled women since i was a boy specifically paraplegic women i have dated a few but it is the true desire of my heart to marry a beautiful woman who is paralyzed and uses a wheelchair ❤
Hi guys, i have to say watching ur video i did go watch another u had made. Im glad u both seem to be happily marred. Brittany i also am a teacher and l think u r incredibly brave to do these videos. I have had students in wheelchairs and had never wondered about how people in wheelchairs went to the bathroom to pee. I must admit i dont really understand why people would say ur husband is so good because he married u. I just think its normal for people to fall in love. So to me its lovely u met and fell in love. With the intimacy in ur relationship, again l think all couples have things they need to consider for their partners. I did wonder about giving birth if you need to have a c section to allow the baby to be born. However thank you for this invite into your daily life. I can only image how hard it would b to live in a wheel chair after a accident of some kind. I wish u and your family a great 2023 and beyond.
Very frank and honest discussion, other interabled leave out issues like sensation down below. It's the intimacy that counts to a woman, and that's heaps and unaffected.
You might think he's a wonderful guy for marrying you, but I think he's a very lucky guy to be with someone as open and solid as you.

@@EmpoweredPara well I'm glad he finally did it you can see that he really loves you guys.
@@coltonmorgan3610 yeah he's a great guy ❤. Most days he ticks the boxes lol
I watched it all the way thru. You guys are awesome.
Well your my favorite then! Thanks for watching!
I just found your channel... have to say you are a great couple and I LOVE your hubby... what a real guy! I'm a subscriber now... look forward to your downloads!
Welcome! Yeah I have a pretty great husband!
Good luck with the recovery! If there are an videos your daughter would like me to make let me know!
BTW I dont have a SCI.. probably worse part of my brain was removed.. thus the quadriplegia.. but I largely reversed it
What a great love story! And how this all led to a great marriage and life together! What a perfect family!
I'm pretty blessed to have found such a great guy!
And he was so blessed to find you at that party!
Fun and well put together video. What grade do you teach? And, yes, strange how you “we” can feel bladder sensation (strange sensation), but nothing else!
I am a substitute so I teach grades 1-12! I like grades 5-10 the most though!
Really appreciate how honest this video turned out. Good luck!
This was so fun to watch!!
Thanks!
1 ❤ watched all the way through!

I really appreciate the candidness!
That's all I know how to be! I spent so many years not being candid and it was exhausting 😪
You are an adorable and completely honest couple.😍
Always honest lol, not always adorable!
1!!! I'm a new subscriber and I enjoyed every minute of this video!!! God bless u and ur family!!!!
Thanks! Welcome! So glad you decided to stick around!
Watched from start to finish. Awesome!
I loveeeeed that
So honest and open conversation
Was fascinated by this😍
Thanks! You are a great example of a beautiful family making it work with a disability!
1- yup, I watched it all the way to the end; because your words are worth hearing.
Thanks! You da best!
@@EmpoweredPara aww so sweet. As are you! Hope you are having an amazing weekend. Hugs.

I didn't learn until my injury that I'm not the fallible shell that can no longer defy gravity, but I'm the eternal being (ghost in the machine) that's living a temporal experience in this Physical realm. ❤️
You two are awesome! Love the way you look at each other.
Awe thanks!
1: Cause I watched all the way through and loved it. I just saw the video you did with Freddie 😍.
Thanks for watching! Fred's awesome!
Take care!
I'm kinda thankful that people are dumb and brave lol. I've had lots of interesting conversations that way haha
🇨🇦❤️🎉😎
I love you two! Excellent video - Jamie LOL! she is precious.
Thanks! Jamie is trying to be stealth lol
Great job! When I proposed to my wife, I did it from my wheelchair. After she said 'yes' I smiled and said "I hope you know what you're getting into." 🤣🤣🤣
Well she must have known! You're still together!
❤
I stumbled upon this video while searching for your stretching video but I couldn’t remember the name of your channel, but now I am a subscriber!! This May will be three years I’ve been in my wheelchair and I find your videos are Great including today’s video!!!
Thank you:) I am so glad that you like my videos! I don't want anyone to ever feel as lost or alone as I felt when I was first paralyzed. If you have any suggestions for videos I'd love to hear them!
1- watched the whole thing. I loved this video!
You to are amazing! Thank you for sharing with us!
You're welcome! Thanks for watching!
absolutely watched to the end and enjoyed it very much. you must be a wonderful teacher based on you teaching me so much at 70 years old.
I have my good days as a teacher lol. Some days not so much!
Watched all, you guys are awesome!
1 , first time watching, but I look forward to watching more.
Thanks for watching to the end! You rock!
Great video!
Thanks 😊
Truth is truth no matter how you look at it. Kids aren't stupid, its the adults who are. always speak your truth and if that offends someone, its their problem not yours.
You two are too cute!
Thanks!
Stumbled on to you guys. Great video. Yes I watched the whole video!
Loved how honest you both are. Watching this is like having you in my house beer in one hand band just chatting.. keep up r
Th good work.
You and Joe would get along lol! Beer makes for good conversation lol!

AWESOME number one
you are a beautiful couple please keep it up love you take care
Appreciate the honest commentary. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome ... what a BLESSED couple ❤! Thank you for sharing xxx
“Trapped in the room” - ahhh, the crazy things we all do for love.
Very frank and honest discussion, other interabled leave out issues like sensation down below. It's the intimacy that counts to a woman, and that's heaps and unaffected.
we don't leave out much lol
Very nice couple 💑 she is a keeper if you know what I mean, now her husband he is a charm. All the best from Canada 🇨🇦
I keep telling my husband I'm a keeper lol!
Very honest. Love these two. Xo from Boston Mass
