    Look great! But you should mention the type of hinge you used. If people don’t realise they need inset hinges they might buy the standard full overlay and end up cutting the doors too small.

    Hey there I think it’s great that you put this video out. I have wanted doors for myself one last 4 yrs and now I know how to make them. Thanks so much!

    Been looking for a video about this project exactly! Don’t have the tools or talent but at least I can talk to someone about doing it! My fear was that the doors would make it front heavy and that it might tip. Thanks for posting!

      for solid wood, use plywood doors.

    Since I will be doing this in a way to match my other furniture that I customized, I can avoid having to buy melamine coated particle board, as the doors on my TV stand are covered in color-shift vinyl, so looks like I'm buying more vinyl! Thanks for this tutorial! It's been a long time since I did any woodworking, so it's nice to get an idea of where to go with putting doors on and not wrecking my bookcase. I live in an apartment, and we have a management team, so they often hire outside contractors, and it drives me nuts having to be here so nothing gets stolen (some worker attempted to steal my neighbor's daughter's phone, and she came down and told me about it and how ticked she was (the worker happened to be in the hallway on my floor), and oddly enough that phone reappeared between two books on her bookshelf, her daughter had left the phone on the sofa), so I want to add locking doors to all of my book cases so I can lock up things that are worthy of someone trying to steal. It's a real bummer people here can't even trust the contractors they hire for things like floor renovations, and painting. *smh*

      Wow thats crazy ! Sucks we live in a world where you can't trust anyone anymore. Also good luck with your project 🙂

    If you got these from Target can you please mention the dimensions? :) I’m wanting to do something similar with my 3 bookcases but where they open in the middle. Thanks! 🙏🏼🙏🏼

    Melanine board is cheep but those hinges.. just the board and the hinges costs as the doors from ikea to my shelf. Havent looked on door knobs and the strips for the edges yet. I would do this if it wouldn’t be so expansive with the fittings.

    Great video (I'm about to add similar doors to the same Target bookcase), but the book case is upside down my guy.

    Can i make a 4x6 cabinet door out of this stuff? or will it be too heavy if supported by only 2 hinges? 3 hinges?

    • @JARMade
      @JARMade  ปีที่แล้ว

    LOL, you don't explain anything! I learned nothing other than to not bother attempting to do this myself. Not only do I not know what all of the tools you use are called so that I could gather them, because you never give any instruction, I also recognized that by the time I invest in all of that equipment, which I would now have to store, I'd spend more money and time doing it myself versus just buying a brand new bookcase with doors. You make it look like this is not worth it. Thanks!
