Awesome video again Dave ! Good to see you all sharing camp. I get a lot of flack sometimes from others for the amount of $$ I spend on the best shells, optics and gear for playing the game with turkeys but to me They deserve the best and when it comes time for the game to come to an end I want little doubt they get the respectful ending in which they deserve ! My dad has always taught me to get up and get a foot on that gobbler's neck as quick as possible. I feel sure I would've lost a couple along the way if I hadn't done that. Glad you fellas stuck it out and found Chub's turkey. There's not a more sick feeling than loosing one you know won't make it.

I enjoy the turkey hunt but when you three get together it is something else. Greatly entertaining.
The turkey hunting reality at its finest. The reality of hunting as a whole. Sometimes, it just doesn’t work out the way we want it to. The respect for the animal for their willingness to survive is felt among all true hunters. Nice work men!

I just got back from tennese me and a buddy went I killed one and called in one for him . It was his first Turkey had 5 beards lol but after that I had so many blown opportunities I was seriously questioning myself but this gave me a good laugh and the realization we all do it
Very humbling experience, You all did more than most would have ever done by looking that long thank you for keeping us in the know for most of the whole time. We are only humans and like dave said this is a blood sport sometimes these things just happen. I am so happy you found your turkey.

I have had just about everything happen that can happen on a turkey hunt. And I have certainly had one get up and run on me. I have always gone straight to him after the shot, but even then, I have had to run some down and search for some. I am glad y’all found him.
Dave, I understand every bit of the "not a cake walk". Born and raised in Florida. If you get a bird on public down here you have earned it!

Y’all make it look so easy but we know it’s not. It takes a whole lot of hours scouting. I rewatched and you can hear the gobbler flopping further and further away. I really appreciate the persistence.

I think what happened is he probably hit the turkeys spine with a pellet or 2 and temporarily paralyzed the bird. I have seen it happen with deer and broadheads as well
I tried to edit my comment below to update it, but could not. As the world turns..this morning I called Gobbler into a small field, as he walked a road to the field gobbling at my calling he gobbled up another Hen that I didn’t know was around. The Hen enters the opposite end of the field, he sees her and is angling away from my barrel, I stopped him and took the shot. After the shot he stumbled but did not roll over, had I not gotten to my feet…running to get to the Gobbler the second shot would have been waaaay too far to kill him. After recovering the Gobbler I realized the first shot (stepped it off) was approx 55 to 60 yards and I should not have taken the first shot, not good on my part, but getting to my feet allowed me to correct my first mistake.

Guys, As much experience as you have combined, someone could have run up and put a foot on that Turkey’s head, or grabbed him by the neck. I’m certain if there was no camera, or the desire to shoot two gobblers on 1 set, that would not have happened. Don’t for get why you are out there. Get up and get on him after the shot and that won’t happen. My 2 cents.
I guess it's always better to get up and grab them right away rather than sit back and talk about it. Having one run off is a fear of mine.

Ha! So we sat and chatted for the TH-cam views you think? 😂 or maybe it was because we had a hen and jake 35 yards away we didn’t want to spook into the next county? I can promise you if we’d thought there was even the slightest chance the gobbler wasn’t down we would have been on him. Not sure if you watched the video, this was mentioned/ discussed about a dozen times.
