I've started to pick up on longbeards getting that "Jake" like gobble later in the season. It's almost like their throat gets sore lol. One of my biggest birds was a morning dad let me skip school. When I got on him I was "positive" he was a Jake from the gobble. I decided to work him due to him being the only one I heard. He gobbled the whole way into 10 steps. Ended up being a dandy. Great hunt, love the videos.
Fantastic morning in the turkey woods....way to end a season, congrats. Ohh and I have a shirt: the turkeys are gobbling and I must go. You have incredible will power squirrel. I would have told Dave here hold my cigar I'll be right back lol.
Good camera work squirrel 👍. Trust me you get better every time. Congratulations on your season and I can only imagine how much fun it would be hunting with you guys even just for a day
Another awesome hunt congratulations Dave and I can't wait to see if squirrel gets one on his birthday 😊 You guys had a more than stellar year Hope this year goes as well for you
Squirrel may not be an award winning videographer and he might miss a cpl times (in a row) once in awhile but he's a cool dude as well as a good turkey hunter. He gets pissed at himself when he misses,I know how he feels. I take it hard bc the successful hunts heal the wounds of the unsuccessful ones and then some. If the feeling we as turkey hunters get (if you know, you know) when everything goes right, far outweighs the frustration turkey hunting causes diehard hunters. Without the sporadic success and the feeling it brings, turkey hunters die of frustration, lack of sleep or plain ole suicide. All that being said,I thank God for every turkey I kill but I REALLY thank him for making me a turkey hunter bc that's something special that most will never understand. Pretty hunt. Thanks for sharing. Tactic question…seemed like u guys stayed quiet and the turkeys angled by yall first before later yelping at them…is that what happened or did it just appear that way ?
They flew out and landed directly off our left shoulder. I waited until we were able to shift the gun and camera (sort of) around to be in position before hitting them with the call. Once their eye are trained on you, that shifting and moving is out.
Dave, how does your strategy change late season? Do you call differently? Here in PA, I always seem to struggle after the second week. I keep after it but rarely hear birds gobbling and in the but woods I hunt, it becomes frustrating.

At the 2:35 mark… Did that gobbler yawn?!?!
I’ve seen them do that many times.

Mr Dave may i ask what range finder you use. I cant find it in your description.
It’s a leupold rx1200 I think
@pinhotiproject thank you for your time and information. Your knowledge and your preference on gear is what im striving for.
The big one was the lead one you could tell he had the bigger head!
What was that Gobbler doing? Would open his beak and gulp air when he was still in tree
I noticed that as well, my first thought was that he was yawning maybe?
Darth vader
Met his maker😊
