I’ve been using my same unit with no replacement parts for 12 years! I also extend the life of replacement cartridges by scooping up the urine soaks crystals out each week, and adding loose crystals on top. I can extend 1 cartridge for a month with 2 cats.
Nice review. Thanks for showing it in action and not recording over the audio. Doesn't sound as bad as a littermaid. Bought one for my brother in law for Christmas, think I made the right choice.
We absolutely love ours, I’ve seen tons of bad reviews on this one and from what I know from using it for 6 months. This thing is incredible. We used to clean out litter box DAILY now we only have to clean once every 15 days. Our cat instantly transitioned from regular litter to the crystal no problem. We absolutely love it and highly recommend these to anyone that might be considering!
Using a toy doesn't really prove how good or not the litter is. The poop sometimes sticky to the rake. And you definitely cannot wait a month to change the box the pee seeps through and the box is full of poop.
I just adopted a rescue 6 month old kitten. I bought this for him without the lid and wish I got the lid. He is an aggressive digger. A hood has been purchased from Amazon and is on the way. This litter box was great through the first tray. The beginning of the second tray, the litter light on the right turned red and I didn’t know what it meant, hence finding your video. I realized this was the manual rake button and what it was saying was my cat had piled the litter so high that it was continually tripping the sensors. I moved the litter that was blocking the sensors and pushed the manual rake button and boom! It raked the poo into the box, evened out the litter again, and all is well. Thank you also for showing how the cord is threaded through the machine, I hadn’t done that step and it made a difference. For a single cat, I think it’s much more economical. I waited until there was only a small layer of litter left and that took a few weeks. And I love no scooping! The smell was only apparent to me the day I changed out the box. Thanks again for your review!
Thank you for your detailed review, and the helpful tips. I am glad you described it as a large box, since I have 3 cats which are used to a large box. My only concern is the cost of the litter. If I buy this litter box, I will definitely opt for the re-usable tray.
I feel like budget wise this is best for single cat owners instead of people who own multiple cats. Still might be worth it but not having to worry about scooping poop for 3-4 weeks with my one cat has been great. Ty for the review!
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Your review was on point and told me exactly what I needed to know . I misplaced the instructions and wasn't sure where to plug my own Pet Safe litter box in. I also watched other reviews and neither of the other reviews showed the step by step setup or the actual Cats using the litter box. Job well 👍🏾!
I found that crystal litter is definitely easier to clean but it does have a fouler smell when dirty, but pine litter may be messier and more of a haste but it doesn’t make the area stink as much
I just purchased this system; we have two cats and plan to go out of town for a week. Am hopeful the cats will be okay during this period of time. Will be trying it out beforehand to be sure. thank you for this video.
@@idguvug honestly it was okay but not great; it pushes the poop into the front area under the guard but only holds so much; and some poop got caught on the metal parts that moved. I actually returned mine because my sister gave me one someone gave her. It is not a perfect system.
I want to try this but I'm hesitant because one of my cats is a high pee-er. I'm thinking he'll get more urine on the sides of the machine than in the actual litter.
I just set mine up and I was waiting for the 20-minute countdown after the cat left and once the rake started up the cats were like really really curious about what was going on Can't wait to have them use it, their clay litter really smells no matter how often I clean it.
Thank you for this review. Very informative. The issue I have with any of these rake litterboxes with non clumping litter, is that there is no way to determine if the cat is suffering from a UTI or cystitis UNLESS there is faint blood in the urine. The telltale sign of knowing there's a problem with the cat suffering from a UTI, kidney disease or diabetes is the size of the clumps and if there's discoloration. I would never recommend using non clumping litter plans or a rake automatic litterbox.
Got a scoop free litter box last week from a friend, have three cats. Tomorrow I’m moving the other litter box but we have four litter boxes total.. my CH cat loves the scoop free box alot
Great review and great channel over all. Automatic litter boxes rock! I have the ChillX AutoEgg. The shape is so cute! Guest always give us tons of compliments on it. I NEVER thought people would compliment a litter box ever.
I was a little irritated somebody gave me a cat recently and provided me this litter box supposedly didn't have the reusable tray but had the attachment to it connected to it I had no idea I was supposed to not have that attachment connected when I set it up I had poop being mashed against the whole cardboard thing but I was able to clean everything and so far so good my question is is it okay to clean the poop out in between the box changes? I feel like I wouldn't want a whole pile of poop just piling up I wouldn't mind just cleaning that part out it doesn't seem like it contains the smell that great either is there any cartridges I can buy that go inside of it?
I have one of these (older model) and I use the plastic bottom. If you don't change it frequently enough or if you have big kitties the pee absorbed crystals sit on the bottom and don't dry out but if you stir it up they dry out super fast! I am looking into those replaceable trays though cause it's still a pain...I use it with two other normal litter-boxes.
Pretty expensive to buy refills. Yes I can buy crystal sand which is cheaper but what to do with the box the cat litter is in? I need to change that to??
So, you didn't film what happens to the "mouse"(fake poop). Since it seems the litter only attaches to and removes the poop, what does it do to/with the urine? Do the cats just step in it every time they use the litter box?
The mouse gets pushed to the poop compartment. Urine is absorbed into the crystal. That’s why it changes color from blue to greenish yellow over time and clear to white. So yes the cat does technically just step in it.
I used it for three more weeks then went back to pine. Well actually the pine litter boxes were always open for business even when we used the crystal.
I still prefer pine! If you haven’t used crystal before, I highly recommend trying it first before buying the whole system. It’s great to never have to scoop and you only have to change the pan every 5-7 days.
I love this litter box, but as someone with 2 cats this does NOT last us 10-15 days, it lasts 6-8 days. Definitely swapping it out weekly, if I left it for 15 days it would be awful.
Mine didnt come with clips for the wire. I coiled it into the bay and it stays. I also got my unit a year ago on sale for $99 on Amazon. So,there is that. I use the unit for my foster/quarantine cage.
Depends what you would like and works for you and your cats! Regular clay litter clumps and sticks badly to the litter boxes in our experience. Someone said the slide one by arm and hammer is good, but we never tried it. Every litter has there pros and cons!
It works… but I wouldn’t recommend it. I tried using clumping litter and the waste just expands so much with the clumps that you’re going to need to change the litter out a lot more frequently
It’s motion sensored so it should detect you kitty. If you like crystal litter then I think this is pretty good! I haven’t tried other automatic boxes for crystal so I can’t say that this is better than the rest.
The product descriptions iv seen for this say its only for cats older than 6 months (probably so they trigger the sensor and stops the rake from activating if theyre in the box)
I have 2 cats and bought this litter box..it’s great! Except 1 of my cats is terrified of it and won’t use it! The other cat was good with it. Any suggestions on how to my the scared cat to use it? Thanks!
Unplug it for a week or two so it doesn’t automatically turn on and let your cat get used to just using that and scoop it out yourself during that time.
I didn’t encounter diarrhea while testing but mushy poop. The crystals does a good job dehydrating it, but sometimes it still either sticks to the rake or slides right past the rake. Someone suggested to wrap the rake prong with straws for easier cleaning
They come with disposable trays, the permanent reusable ones need to be purchased separately but the price breaks even after 3 months (for me anyway) and I’ve had mine for like 6 months so far. It works great! I subscribed to have the litter delivered to my home regularly so I only pay like $10/month for litter now 🙂
The crystals are pretty small. I think everything can be presented as a possible choking hazard. People shouldn’t be dissuaded from using the litter due to a single review.

There is very little depth, can we add extra crystal litter to make it higher? Pretty litter is a cheaper alternative
