I always take Joshs advice. He literally encouraged me start my business a few years back by his realistic process for detailing cars. Stay awesome brother!
I agree...but he always changes his mind. One video he'll say something is his favorite and then a couple videos later he'll pull out a different brand or different method and say something different is his favorite.
Great to see that you are aware of the other TH-cam videos that may contradict your suggestions. Your explanation of why prewashing can be good or bad is spot-on.
So I've only used this pressure washer one time. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxfQauTxLT0JLSvqkq10rD79TU4k0Vz8zP The one time I used it, it worked great. I recently had new siding installed but kept the old gutters and small areas surrounding my house that weren't replaced so they looked horrible and dirty because of the new siding. I needed to get it cleaned asap. When I used the pressure washer, man it just melted all the dirt and grime that was on those areas of my house. I used that krud kutter soap and it was over after that. Easy to assemble, feels durable, very simple to use. Also, I purchased a used one to save money and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I want to get more use out of it so I think I'll be washing the cars and update this comment as time goes on.
I use the exact same electric blower to dry my full size truck (pain in the to detail) A trick I learned was to hold the blower upside down, and use the same force of the blower to actually hold it up. You may have to tweek where on the handle you hold it, but when you get it right almost seems like the blower is floating and you control the position by just moving your arm. It’s saved me from having to carry the whole weight of the blower. Works wonders when drying the roof of the truck, I literally hold the blower over my head. Great videos 👍🏻👍🏻
I have a pro air drier with an air squeegee tip . It blows all the water off and leaves an absolute mirror finish but it does take some time. The key is that periodically I use bead up to put a mirror finish seal on the paint job and I do this to the wheels too. The pro dryer is perfect for the wheels and does a perfect job of getting it all off. I do this every two months or so, so the finish is truly a mirror finish. I should add both my Tesla"s are ceramic coated. Once you have the mirror finish the water droplets will literally run off once the powerful air squeegee gets near those droplets.

Could you do a video about drying aid please? What it is? What product is good? And if it’s necessary if you already have di water and if you don’t have di water?
Dang. Most informative video on quick wash . I live 20 mins from Mexico in south TX. Sun and heat 75 % of the year. This is how I wash my car. No swirls or water spots on my new car for 18 months going strong.
75% of the year, I’d say more like 95%. Im in the same area. I wash one section at time, unlike the video. Everything else in the video ironically I’ve learned in the 20 years of detailing my own cars. The most important, in my opinion is to keep the surface wet. So as I’m washing each section I’m always keeping the prior section wet.
My municipal water is very hard with lots of minerals. So this video “hits the spot” and helps provide the necessary details to help deal with very hard water. Great suggestions. I’ve been using a blower to dry my vehicle and it helps. Spotting has been an issue in the past but since I got a pressure washer and foam cannon my wash process is faster and the spotting is much less of an issue. In Josh We Trust 😉
Awesome tips and technique, unfortunately for me being almost 60 years old and a disabled veteran I definitely don’t have speed on my side lol, I just need to invest in a spotless system, thanks Josh 👍😁
Josh, have you ever ran a final rinse with just a gallon of bottled distilled water? Keep a gallon in a powered sprayer and spray it down after rinsing with the pressure washer. You just need a light coat or mist. Then dry it.
Josh, I just wanted to say thank your for the videos. I subscribed to your channel a while ago and have just learned so much. You have been a huge help. Rock on!
One of your best videos in which you make some valid points and key suggestions in your approach to dealing with this issue. However, moving forward, this is why I could never understand why so many people get excited with surface protection products that beads. Water beads are water spots that haven't yet dried. And obviously, we all dry our vehicles after the final rinse, so why would anyone want any water to remain on the vehicles surfaces via beading?? Wouldn't you want less water to remain, thus less to remove via beading? Products that offer sheeting characteristics in my opinion, are far more desirable. Less water to remove saves time (and money in this case) as well as preventing water spots to begin with. Just because a product doesn't bead doesn't make it less effective when it comes to surface protection. When you think about it, the sheeting action is just another key benefit when it comes to surface protection.
Well now I know why my wooly doesn’t dry that well. I did use a drying aid that had the chemicals you mentioned. Thank you for the video and your expertise!
Also-also for concerns regarding your drying towel getting impregnated with a drying aid simply use a smaller towel and dunk them in a bucket of rinseless wash for a few minutes as soon as you're done. This prevents those bonds from forming and essentially allows you to wash the product off cleanly when you next do a load of towels. You can thank Yvan Lacroix for that little gem. My towel replacement costs have shrunk dramatically since I stopped pitching towels after every car which means more money in my pocket.
Great tutorial Josh! Ive ordered a few of the products you’ve recommended including pressure washer. Now that i can turn the outside water spicket on. Winter here in RI its off all winter.
Thanks! Yes I forget how extreme weather can be in the winter. People have asked me to do videos about removing salt and other things like that, but I have no experience with it
Good video. I will give that a try. HOWEVER, I live in Phoenix AZ and when it is extremely low humidity and 100+ degrees IN THE SHADE in the evening during the late spring, summer and early fall, it will definitely present a huge challenge for spots!
Good suggestion @HookandLateral I’d be interested to see some of the dedicated products that are marketed as drying aids like OG and Koch Chemie; I’m sure there are others.
good tip on which side is in the sun. I make that side my last section to rinse off plus keep spraying water on the shaded side. I have found good results from just letting the water free flow from the hose with no spray nozzle on it I find the water tends to flow off the vehicle better. Thanks for the great videos always good stuff
That Forensic Detailing video was interesting. Even in direct mid-summer SoFL sun, I have at least 5 minutes to let foam dwell before it starts drying. Maybe not ideal for a pro who needs to finish and move on to the next car, but I'm only doing 1 a day. I do however usually give up on rinsing with the pressure washer and just grab the hose with a sprayer nozzle. All connected with QC's and a shut off valve on the end of the hose so I don't have to run to the back of the house to kill the water for that change over. Life changer.
Such a great job ! i wont do it as it rains often in the northeast and then its messed up with dirt from the roads. but I'll do 1/2 as good and good enough. Thanks for the detail on how to do it right though and nice to know these tips from a pro ! I need one of those big towels that will make a big difference.
Hey Josh, a great series of videos on spot free finish. You have shown some that work and others that are ok. As always very informative and a good teaching aid for the novice and experienced. Great job 👏
What are you using for the wheels and tires to get all the iron and dirt off and not even have to scrub? I am a DYI guy and I am brushing my wheels and tires. And I am never able to get the red off the tires... Be nice if I didn't have to mess with the tires... And will using a product like this mess with the pro ceramic coating I have on the rims?
good video, only one question at 8:07 , you are going vertical from top to down using same mf towel and then bringing it back top, would it not have been better to use another mf towel for the lower section of the car? if you drag same towel up n down... that might just push the residual dirt to top and induce scratches.
I think you may have found another way to rate soaps. If they can be used in direct sunlight without damaging the paint. I also think there might be a geographic climate component. Keep up the great work. Your videos keep improving!
It is true that pre-rinsing cools the surface a bit, that's why most wheel cleaners say to thoroughly pre rinse wheels if they're hot before applying the chemical
Josh informative video, what dedicated wheel cleaner do you use? When using Technician Choice do you use the product as it was delivered or do you dilute this product? How about when you use this product when doing interiors? Lastly what do you use for tire dressing? Thnkx

I'm toying with adding a step where a customer would pass through an auto-wash for 12 bucks before hitting my shop. Maybe give the customer a break on the overall cost of the detail if they have to pay for a wash first...maybe not.
Any tips for using this method when you have a full size roof rack like a prinsu? Water gets in all the crevices and channels and always drip water. Awesome content as well bro

I'm kind of lucky I have an RODI system that I use for my fish tank. I use that water to rinse my car off at the end. I still dry it off just in case I didn't rinse off all the tap water, but it's so nice knowing that if I don't dry it off in time, no big deal.

Have you used any ceramic hydrophobic solutions that you spray out of your foam cannon after you do the rinse after the contact wash? Are there any you recommend?
Curious why it seems like the detailing community doesn't show any love to the absorber, or similar synthetic chamois? I keep one in each of my vehicles and always use it to dry my cars off. It's also great to have in the car incase of any kind of spill in the car.

Hey Josh, I am fairly new to your channel and really like it. I noticed in this video and some others that you start the contact wash with the foam on the vehicle. I thought the foam had to be washed off to remove the encapsulated dirt then go to the contact wash. Can you go tell me how that process works for you? If you have a video on it I am happy to check it out.
Do you think having like a backpack electric sprayer with deionized water to do a final rinse Could be a alternative for someone just starting mobile detailing?
I’d go opposite actually. A good drying towel will pick the bulk of the water and then use the blower to get the spots the towel can reach where you usually get drips
Good video for me to save for future reference. Our water up her in the Sacramento is like liquid rock It's so hard and trying to stay ahead of the water drying in direct sunlight is a real challenge in the summer because it gets so freaking hot 🔥 up here.. Think I'm going to pull the trigger today and get my first power washer and thanks to all your reviews I think I'm going to settle on Greenworks from Costco because of the value AND because it comes with a 25' Uberflex hose that you recommend. Like to get accessories like the 1.1mm nozzle jet and a good foam cannon.
Can you just rinse the car thoroughly with deionized water and let it air dry in a garage? By moving the vehicle to a dust free place to dry will that eliminate water spots after using deionized water? If you have that option.
A simple trick I use is I have bottle water fountain size aka costco bottle of deionized water and use the Ryobi battery power 600 psi unit to rinse it off
Hey David I just did a video about DI water and spoke about soft water systems. They might reduce some of the TDS in the water, but will still have them and you can still get water spots. However, I would think that a soft water system will make it easier to not get water spots using this process!
Hi Josh, thanks for all the pressure washer reviews and tips. I tried some quick connects for my PW hose and water hose hook up, and it seemed like there was a big drop in pressure. Do the quick connects cause pressure loss?
The sun can be an issue if you when you wash your vehicle outside while the sun’s heat is at its maximum but it can also be the calcium content of the water you use and it depends on the city’s water treatment.
I always take Joshs advice. He literally encouraged me start my business a few years back by his realistic process for detailing cars. Stay awesome brother!
