Hi everyone! First off, it's been brought to my attention that somehow I left out the developer's name in the video even though I linked to his Twitter and Gumroad Pages. This was a mistake on my part - not intentional - please make sure to check out his Twitter Feed - Faaaaark! - twitter.com/faaaaarck Gumroad Page - BlenderThings - t.co/GxENuR9bur?amp=1 Blender Market Page - BlenderThings - blendermarket.com/creators/blenderthings Let me know what you think about this node setup in the comments below! :)
in case someone want to apply these to other surfaces - ctrl-L to copy modifiers to new object and create vertex groups with names P, PO, POF and assign all verticles to them. Also u need to duplicate (shift+D) and right click your new surface and remove all modifiers so u can see it. And then change shrinkwrap target object to object you just duplicated. probably u need to subdiv it too
Pretty dope! I can definitely see a lot of uses for this! I couldn't figure out a way to change the object that gets the growth just yet, but can't wait to play with it more
Dope! Thanks. First thing I would try, to use this effect on another object, is link the modifiers (Select new then original > Ctrl+L > modifiers). May still have some vertex group or other issues after that though. Sorry if you knew this, just wanted to share my thoughts
Thank you! I'm learning blender and other softwares as a beginner (but I guess it'll be a lifelong process filled with love 😁) and your channels are between the most clear, easy to follow and well explained among the 3d educational ones. And you're very nice 😊 I really appreciate! Thank you ❤ (I can't wait for the whole plethora of the new geometry nodes on 2.92 to land!)
Any tips for growing the length of an object? I want to start at bottem left and grow up and to the right in an animation, but it seems as I move right at some point the left starts disappearing.
How would you invert the effect? Let say to automatically remove grass where you put trees in lawns? Even better, you could use both of them? Let say to remove grass and replace it with damaged one under a character feet?
We need a detailed decomposition of this voodoo magic, cause my brain boils as i look through the nodes and modifiers trying to comprehend what's going on and why we shouldn't burn creator of it as a witch.
@Paulo Silvano honestly I tried for a couple days but I couldn't understand the nodes far enough to figure it out. Someone told me it's a simple shrink wrap modifier, if that's the right term, but at this point it's above me. I'm still trying to understand nodes from the basics to get an idea of what's going on
Lol - Mine neither - I think if I spent some time on this one, I could reverse engineer it to apply it to a different mesh, but I haven't quite gotten the vertex groups figured out yet
Jan 31st update: it does seem like Gumroad won't let you view the content unless you put a dollar amount in, but the way I see it $1 is more than fair for something like this. Just put in a dollar amount, download the content, then cancel the membership.
I just don`t like the way they are implementing this geo nodes system, it basically sits as a modifier on an object, like the other modifiers but the geo node tree can also have modifiers which are just node versions of modifiers already there, and then modifiers within modifiers and you've got all this data all over the place, its messy. A proper node graph should be like its own separate object which is completely encapsulated, you dont go adding modifiers from the tab panel and all that crap.
I can see where you're coming from here and I'm having a similar issue - it's really hard to track what's happening between the modifier stack and the nodes themselves. That said, remember that this is still in Alpha and we may not be seeing the full implementation yet either.
Not a single "Thanks" for the artist (not even mentioning his name or encouraging people donating) that makes it available for free to let YOU use it and make views... quite disappointed
I mean, I literally link both to his Twitter post and to his Gumroad page so that people will go check out his stuff, but I suppose I did forget to mention his name in the video (I thought that I did, but I guess not). What have you done to drive traffic to his work other than being "disappointed?"
@@TheCGEssentials No offense, but the goal is not to know what I've done to his work especially as I don't use it publicly. The goal is to give credits and thanks the artist as you did in other videos like for Ben and its shaders. Not just use and link the file. I said "disapointed" because I give you the benefit of the doute... even if I don't see any added value to this video other than making views by opening a file with a spectacular result without taking time to understand it. You've done way better videos Justin !
@@MohClassic Like I said - I thought I had mentioned his name in the video when I uploaded it and somehow it didn't make it into the finished video. I did make sure to link to his stuff specifically so people could find him on social and download the shader he made available for free, AND I'll try to send more traffic his way in the future. If he doesn't like the way this video came together, I'd even be happy to take it down if he requested it - I know my intent and it wasn't to leave that out, but to let people know about something cool he created that's a great example of how geometry nodes will work. As to how you feel about the value I added, I suppose you'll have to continue being "disappointed" - I'll be doing many more videos where I talk about cool things other people have done that I don't fully understand. You have access to the same tools I do - feel free make a video proving the value you're disappointed I didn't provide if it bothers you that much.
I'm not sure I agree fully with that assessment, but I didn't do as good of a job as I usually try to of calling out the developer's info. Am going to try to do better in the future.

LOL excellent question. One that won't get answered I'm certain of it.

It has to do with the vertex groups it's assigned to, but I haven't figured out how to swap those out yet. Once I do, I think it'll be pretty easy
@@TheCGEssentials any update on this? 😁
How to apply it on other objects?
These are some Houdini stuff going on with Blender🙄 very excited for geo nodes
Super fun stuff :)
I'm waiting to an oficial animation nodes, to do some C4D stuff too xD
How do I make it grow on my object instead of that object?
Amazing Justin thank you for sharing
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great tutorial! Thanks. can anybody explain how to use the node on a own surface?

So how to apply this nodes for other objects ???????????? Please Help
what I want to know is how to you get the random wiggle of the plants in response to the motion of the empty? That is what sells it for me
it is empty, no flower around the circle like you do in 1:51. Please tell me how to fix it. thanks

I'm pretty sure that's something that would get changed in the modifier - maybe inverting the forces around the empty driving the object locations?
@@TheCGEssentials i didn't have the time to put my hands in Geonodes for now, so these were more vague ideas!
Will you do this with a different object
That’s really cool, would be worth to find out how this can be done on any surface.
Should be able to - I haven't been able to spend a ton of time on it, but it's using vertex groups, which pretty much every surface has
Helpful always, thanks man
Happy to help!
what does P, POF, PO in the vertex group mean? which vertixes
Oh, this is just so wonderful. Thank you thank you

is this still working blender 3.3+ ?
sir cannot download the file from gumroad its say u account is not charged contact support can sm1 upload it again?

You are welcome!!
I'm a new comer in blender, is there anything like render elements in blender cycle or eevee ? Because it helps alot in post production process
