300k miles is insanely cool, so nice seeing someone drive and have love for their car rather than just sticking it in a garage 24/7
In 2016 the car had 86000 miles done according to its MOT but in 2017 it was reading 260,000 so in 1 year it somehow managed to do 174,000 miles smells Of BULLSHIT
@@MOSSFEEN Well if you'd bothered to watch some other content on our channel you would have learned how that all happened, can I be arsed to explain it all again? Not really but here we go. The car used to work on track as a driving day experience vehicle in order to pay for its up keep, we aren't millionaires. people complained about the high mileage so it was temporarily wound back. when the car was retired from track use by Simon the miles were put back so as to maintain the true history of the car. We await your apology.
Someone actually using a supercar. I'll be damned...
Me to. Fell over with shock.
I swore back in 2004 if I could ever afford a new Murcielago I’d just drive it!
Simon G
Thats cool af.
Great video, Simon. The car looks, drives and sounds amazing. Hitting 300,000 miles is unreal - there should have been a crowd outside the factory applauding you home - they missed a bit of marketing gold there. 👍
Thanks 👍
I think the factory’s main concern is new car sales not old classics! But I agree with you. Thanks again
Perspective of older cars impacts new cars @@britainsbiggestmodelrailwa1428
That sound when you pull away is epic!
Thanks Andy I love it! Simon
The Most Reliable Lamborghini On Earth 😮❤
I remember reading about this car on EVO when I was just a teenager. It's such a pleasure to see you're still enjoying the Murcy. Hats off to you Simon!
Thanks for your kind words.
Yes it’s been a great car and given me mostly happy memories!!
Simon G
That’s seriously impressive. 300k miles is diesel taxi numbers and this would have been driven hard .
Followed this car from the start and truly amazing. What a journey you and the car has had over the past 20 years 👏.
Thanks Richard it has indeed. Best regards.! Simon
For me, the thunderous V12, manual gated Lamborghini Murcielago is a purist Lamborghini!
Inspires me to not mess around with my TVR Tuscan and just drive it. People do get so hung up about mileage rather than enjoying their cars.
Absolutely right. Though in the states they aren’t as bothered about high mileage
Keep on driving that Murcielago Simon
I will and thank you !
Fantastic video. I love to see these beautiful cars being used properly
Many congratulations on achieving 300k mls. I bet the engine gets and sounds better all the time? Testament to Lamborghini in building great engines.
That's so cool. It's rare to see them with 30,000, much less 300,000! Having the true manual I'm sure helps it stay out of the shop. The E-gear cars really destroyted clutches at an alarming rate. I have a client with a very steep and curved driveway that leads right into his garage and he's had more clutches put in on his Murci than oil changes lol.
Very true. The egear clutches are much less hard wearing. I try not to reverse uphill in mine - it’s a killer for clutches, even manual ones. Best regards. Simon G
21:22 sounded like that part of the JAMIRIQUI vid in COSMIC GIRL 🔥
My 600LT Spider has almost 60K miles. A ways to go to catch up. Just finished a 5K mile road trip. 😎
This is, easily and by a wide margin, my favorite Lamborghini in the world. What an inspiration.
This is properly spot on. 300k in a Murci. RESPECT.
Wonderful noise. Congrats on the milestone!
Thank you! Yes after lots of different exhausts it’s about right now. Cheers. Simon
Saw you earlier on the motorway. Lambo is looking good!
Awesome!
Thanks!
respect!!! that's 20k short of 500000 km! I live in switzerland and portscars/hypercars with UK plates are like a red rag to a bull in switzerland. blame the gumboil rallies et al for this causing havoc...
I effing love this guy's attitude.
Epic! Nice to see them driven!
Like many others I’ve loved this car since the early days and Evo magazine etc … bravo to you for using it, sticking with it, rebuilding it and more importantly using it for what it is. Still the ultimate Lambo for me, or a 640 with that gated manual. Apologies if I’ve missed it somewhere but when did the LP640 leave the stable Simon and is it still in the U.K. ? Love the channel.
Thanks for your kind comments really appreciated!
The LP640 stayed with my business partner when we went our separate ways in 2018. I think it’s still used often.
Very best regards. Simon
I love to see cars like these been used.
👍👍👍
What a great car
Congratulatios Simon. I'll never forget the day you drove through my village...
Which village was that? I hope it didn’t frighten any old ladies!
Simon G
"It's a long ways about a thousand miles" . That's about two states for me. 😮
🤣 Yeah its a bit different when you've on a little island like us.
Yea true! I forget how big the USA is!
The reason supercars don't have high mileage is not because they're not capable of it (they actually are, more so than regular cars because they're much higher quality than regular cars are), but because most people who own supercars have a lot of cars and not a lot of time to drive them.
Ferrari 288GTO and the Miura are probably my two favourite cars.
Well done on the 300k
i just subscribed now /my f355 has 86,000 miles (gringo)my 911 porsche 997 has 200,000 miles ,thanks for your youtube here
Love the ingenuity to get out of the hotel garage!
I was getting rather stressed during that episode! Cheers
😆 don't let the swiss police see this vid. Getting into,3rd on a mountain pass.... Prison 😂.... PS top vid 👌
😂
Lovely to see mate, great to see the road trip inspiring stuff
Thanks mate
Gated manual v12 is a w 🙏 id be driving it every day too lmao
Congrats
Fair play to you Simon, the amount of adventures and stories that you
have experienced with your Murcielago will leave so many memories that
will last a lifetime.
I very much doubt anyone else lucky enough to own cars like this and
talk about how little mileage is on their odometer, will be able to boast in the years
ahead, how little their car came out from its storage space 😉
Not exactly living an exciting and adventurous life 😂
It was great to see it back to where it came from at the factory.
Real pity they didn't seem to lay on a slightly better welcoming party for you and
your car though.
Looking forward to following the future adventures for sure 👍
Man, the Swiss have some stunning roads for driving, the scenery ain't half
bad either. I would love to visit it sometime.
Thank you for your comments. 😊
Yes as I said in an earlier comment it is a shame the factory’s main preoccupation is with new cars. Classics don’t really interest them is the message I got
Underrated channel for sure! Earned my sub, hope you get to enjoy that masterpiece the way it was meant to be owned for many more years to come ❤
@@3asoni That’s very kind of you. Glad you’re enjoying what we do and thanks for your sub.
My dream car. So beautiful even today.
Fantastic road trip to watch and stunning roads - am planning one for next year in our 612
Maybe watch the other road trip video on the channel for more great roads and ideas of places to visit. Glad you enjoyed the episode.
@@DriversKeepers am binging content right now.! We've been doing euro trips for a long while - will reach out via email
Cool video. Thx
I was looking at it at Raby Castle yesterday, great history on a great car,
Thank you. Lovely place Raby Castle
Remember this car from EVO mag more than decade ago... I am only halfway up there with my clownshoe, will never sell it either. Have had it for over 16 years. Only one in world preproduction pearlescent white one. And world’s lightest Z3 Coupe with an interior (because I’ve made it all from carbon fiber).
Remember this car from evo ages ago, remember its extensive engine rebuild
Us too! 😂
Simon, I am only half way through! What a stunningly brilliabt video, thank you. Love lambo's over Ferrari 2 friends of mine over here in cheshire, use dto get invited to Sant Agata everytime there was a new car launch!! If your event over Cheshire way, there's a pint waitng for you :)
Glad you enjoyed it
I’m new to your channel. Nice to see how you use the Lambo like where it’s made for. Very unique in my opinion. Any big issues or problems so far?
Lots of general Maintenance, some top end rebuilds, resurrected from the dead after a big smash on track and recently a new engine.
Simon,
That was an amazing and epic video. Truly inspiring to now work hard and own a Murcielago and enjoy every moment on the road. Currently enjoying a 997 Turbo S.
Thank you from Canada
Didar 🙏🏽
Thanks for your kind comments.
I think I’d be more confident in your Porsche getting back without problems than my old Lambo !
Glad you enjoyed it!
You require more cameras fella, to do this kind of trip justice.
They are on the way! 😊
I remember reading about this car every month in Evo
I remember I was reading evo magazine back when this car was first bought haha.
It had 64 miles on the clock back then ! 😁
I am based in Switzerland / Austria. My RS3 is approaching 140,000 and I thought that was high... I am not longer worried. Maybe I have a new goal of making it the highest miler in Austria! Give the car its own character!
Keep going you only live once! Simon G
Subbed. I own a 54 reg r53 which I have owned for 12 years. It has 150,000 mile on it. Your double that! Wow.
Thanks for the sub!
Subscribed!! Amazing content.. Keep enjoying your cars and keep doing what you're doing, you deserve so many more subscribers 😊
Thanks for your kind words. 😊 More content on the way.
Is there any chance this car was in Hamburg, Germany last year in June? I think i‘ve seen it in a parking garage! Very nice car put to proper use!
Not sure I’ll check with Simon.
Love the video, and I love Lamborghinis. But why does the video make me think I’m watching a VHS video? It looks so dated?
Who knows? 😳
What a thing. Congratulations.
I too one day to have similar miles on my daily 456GT
456 is a great car 👍
Nice!! Murci is my dream car. Love to see it used. How many engines have required swapping?
Greetings from Canada!
On its second engine but only recently
@@DriversKeepersdid you mean second replacement ie 3rd if including the original
Right so it had 4 engine rebuilds on the original factory V12. It’s now on its second and has covered just 9000 miles on this one so far. Simon
PS I love Canada!
Daily driven exotics
why don’t you do a video of how reliable it is, what kind of maintenance done and what parts were replaced.
Maybe we will, that’s a long list of parts though. 😂
The TVR Bloomin Eck doesn't have quite the same ring to it
😂
Wow great video!!! So glad you're Lambo actually got to see 300,000 miles!!! Curious, how much is the maintenance on a 300,000 mile Lamborghini?
A lot 🤦♂️
I can't imagine 😬
What exhaust do you have on it? Sounds awesome!
I will ask Simon to answer this for you.
Yes it’s had 14 different exhausts over the years - finally one now that sounds great without the drone.
It’s mainly a Fabspeed from the USA with their sports cats mated to the original factory tips which reduce the drone. It’s a bit hybrid but I love the sound now. Reminds me of a much older Lamborghini V12
Thanks . Simon
300k complimenti 👏
Thanks!
Grazie di Cuore.
What model year is this car? Pretty cool 300K 👍👍👍👍
@@LeeC58 2004.
Really good video
Thanks!
Irv Gordon is nodding his approval from high above..
Great video😂😂
Thanks 😅
Would love to know a break down of costs. Especially the amount of clutches.
10 Clutches so far
The costs were huge but interestingly the 8000 people over the years that drove it on the track brought in over £1million. So I guess it works both ways 👍
@@DriversKeepers that pretty good
Daft question. I remember a guy on EVO magazine did a lot of miles in a murci back in the day. Is this the same one?
19:28 the EVO sticker........ Guess it is....
Yeah, same car, same owner.
@@DriversKeepers ah I remember from the articles it seems to kill the motors for the bat wings. Does it still do that?
@@DasArab Yeah.
Why just not to raise the air suspension??
Hasn’t worked for 10 years and too expensive to repair. 😢
Day 4 was that the tunnel they used in Quamtum of Solace opening scene??
Not quite sure I’ll have a look at that! Simon
Nice video 👍👍
May I know how many clutches it chewed through at 300k miles
Yes it’s on its 10th now. Simon G
I wonder if this makes it less or more valuable now, not that he’d ever sell it.
Good question!
That would equate to £1'000'000 for fuel possibly
Oh crickey. It’s best not to think about it 😂
@@DriversKeepers can the vehicle be hired out?
@@madanto2394 No sorry, its Simon's personal car not a hire car.
@@DriversKeepers or even just to have a drive in it?..
How did you get in the hotel garage in the 1st place 😂
Different ramps for in and out!
What did management think of your car? Highest mileage lambo ever?
Highest mileage Lambo? Who knows, probably.
I don’t think they were too bothered - a bit bemused if I’m honest! Think they thought I was mad.
Simon G
Original engine?
Now on its second engine but only recently.
@@DriversKeepers Impressive. Lasted more than lots of engines and I bet he didn't drove it like grandma.
What mpg did you get on the trip? 😁
I think about 18mpg on the highway - around 12 in towns etc
Top tip: NEVER wear those shorts ever again!!!
You’re welcome. 😂
Rude! 😂
@@DriversKeepers It’s for the good of humanity! 🫣
mile not km?
Miles yes not KM
Sub zero cool.
If you wanted to put as many miles on her as possible why not go all the way to the eurotunnel?
The other Simon here….. agreed, I always use the tunnel. Tried the ferry for the first time this year, won’t bother again. I guess he just likes boats! Thanks for your comment.
What's so epic. I have a Lexus Ls 400 with500000 miles before that I had a toyota celica sold it with 600000 miles was running without burning any oile. What's so epic about this car. Probably the Italians and the Germans scratching their ass thi king this Lamborghini is a fluke
Well done I’m pleased for you! 👍
Can you please explain how this car had done 86000 miles in 2016 but in 2017 it had 260,000 So in 1 Year you had driven it 174,000 miles Smells of a CLICK BAIT video
Evo Magazine readers will know the answer to this one. Fair question that I’ve answered before though…
By 2007 at just 3 years old the Murcie was nearing 100k miles since I was using it to instruct customers in on the track.
I’d get complaints from customers about the mileage so chose to wind off chunks of miles to avoid this.
After its 2013 major crash and 4 year rebuild it was retired from the track & re-registered for the road.
At this point in 2017 I re-added all the mileage for accuracy I’d wound off. It was the right thing to do.
If you check out back issues of Evo from 2007 onwards it’s all documented and explained!
Thanks for watching!
Simon G
AMAZING!
@@DriversKeepers Dude it's ok if you have no idea but really my scrotum itches a lot when i drive this car and it has become a real issue for me. I tried thinking in anything else but that was no good at all...
Also i have another problem, my balls itch bro, I live in my car (the Murcielago) and I haven't washed my balls in like three months. Can't you lend me a shower?
