Can’t wait to hear more about this car! This Murcielago and your story is a huge inspiration to me, I’m in my early 20s now, but I’ve wanted a Murcielago since I was 4 years old! Thank you for making videos about your car
Great stuff. This is a hero car for me, being the most famous Murci in the world. Absolute hats off to you Simon for wringing this car out. I have a Gallardo LP570-4 SL on 32000 miles, which I bought in 2016 (11 MY) at 10,000 miles…..feeble by comparison, but willing to bet it’s got more miles on it than most other SLs in the UK. (I think there are only about 12 in total). This video just makes me want to drive it properly and maybe aim for 100k miles…like you, mine is more than just a car to me and it’s a lifetime keeper. 👍
Hands up who has read about this car In EVO magazine for years? When it was first in they were quite rare so often I used to be the first thing I turned too when my subscriber copy of EVO hit the mat (get back in those days). I used to marvel at the maintenance costs and think wow imagine having the dosh to run one of those!
I don't respect those that don't drive their cars.. I don't care how expensive it is. I know a guy that bought a 23 Green Demon..Beautiful car..Never put more than three miles on it. Sold it for 100000 more than he bought it for 3 months later. I know......."he's a smart business man". But he's already a multi millionaire. Drive the damn thing. That's a once in a lifetime car
Odd way to view a 100k 3 month gain. Presumably if he keeps that up he can buy any car of any make and model in history. He may actually be just smarter than you lol.
Read every EVO magazine looking forward to finding out what this Murci had been up to. It'll be fantastic to see more of it in the future. Subscribed 👍
My eyes will always be drawn to the Ford side indicator lenses. But seriously, Amazing car. Take a Risk. Your anxiety will guide you through. You’ve thought about it a million times. Now is the time to do it. Today not tomorrow. It’ll work out. Car journalists have great lives.
great video and great story, I've seen the car many times but not had the pleasure of driving it. As with a lot of Lambo's I'm never sure of the correct pronounciation. I always wondered if it was 'Murcielago' or 'Murcielago', after watching the video I now know for sure it's definitely 'Murcielago'
At last, after all these years, it's on the interwebs to watch . Followed this since 1st time in EVO and the thread on PH. I've got a very early Panamera turbo that will never be sold...
I’ve got a very rowdy Crossflow Caterham that I’ve had for 22 years now- that’s not going anywhere!! I struggle to think of anything that could replace it for the money!
@@DriversKeepers never get tired of the thing!! Popping and banging- big flames at night! Never fails to thrill/ scare/ bewilder at the range of noises it makes!!
Late reply, sorry. When the car was being used exclusively on track some of the miles were temporarily removed as paying customers complained that the car had too many miles. Once retired from its track duties those miles were re added to ensure an honest account of the cars mileage.
Fabspeed system including their sports 200 cell cats but I've retained the original factory tips. Might look for something a bit beefier soon to replace the stock items though.
Great car but why do you drive without two hands on the wheel and hand on the gear stick when they are so long geared? 😞Well done on the key thing though...driving it. 🙂👍🤟🤓🤓🙂
Great memories of reading about this car in EVO. How on earth did the car do 175,000 miles between 2016 and 2017 MOT's 😳 [edit: just read about the mileage adjustment in the comments] I won't ask how it got through 15 MOT's with an engine light on 😏
I cant stand car channels that buy and sell cars so often it just seems fake. Why buy your dream car to sell it 2 months later?? Seems all fake to me. This is totally fucking awesome!
I just drove past the orange lamborghini its loud and when I had my feet on the ground I felt vinrations coming from the exhuast it a beautiful car at the front but at the back it doesn't look at good
I'm watching right now, and what I love about it is Simon, you seem like just a regular guy just enjoying what you've got and making the most of it. I can relate, I never sell a car, I just drive it until it gives up. With my Pantera, I could barely drive it for the first 20 years or so, and then decided what was I doing holding on to a car that I couldn't enjoy. I finally became motivated to make the Pantera the car I always dreamt it should have been, and now I drive it every single weekend. And while it gives me a thrill every time I drive it,, it is no match for my Jag 5L XKR, 600hp daily driver for the last 11 years with 210,000 miles, many track days under its belt, and just a spectacular piece of machinery. Congratulations on your new video endeavor. It was well worth it.
Why are you not looking after it properly?? 1. An incredibly poor repair to that interior hinge? You should boil your head for thinking a gaffer tape repair on Alcantara is a good idea. 2. Sagging headlining? That’s an easy fix, if you have a reasonable level of knowledge, I presume you get everyone else to work on the car, but you have no clue? (I may be wrong, maybe you are just very lazy) 3. Probably worst of all an engine light you’ve left on for 15 years? (I’m guessing it’s linked to exhaust swaps, but nonetheless that is shabby ownership to just leave it and not properly maintain the car) That’s ridiculous. While you own a nice Lamborghini, you seem lacking in any skill to actually care for it, a true shame.
Boil my head! 😆 Thats a bit strong! I'm not made of money and as such care for the car to the best of my abilities. Anyway you will no doubt be pleased to know that the glove box part required has been sourced and fitted, it works again and the tape has gone!
@@DriversKeepers in jest , I don’t really want you to boil your head, think of the mess! Haha. Glad to hear it, it’s a stunning car with great history, I wish I could afford one but all I can stretch to is a 996 C4S Porsche, but if I had the money it’d be gone in a heartbeat for a Lamborghini of this period. Comment was probably too harsh, apologies.
No that was a different car and a different company. The car has always been orange and used to part of the ‘6th Gear’ driving experience fleet. It earned its living there so that Simon could afford to keep it.
I am amazed Ed Bolian has not been over to drive it yet!
What a fantastic video and story
I still have the Evo magazine with this in it.Looking forward to the rebuild videos-that will be very interesting.
So glad you've made a channel!
Far better to see this driven so much rather than being a garage queen!

Fascinating story and a great start to the new series. Thanks for putting it all together
Nice one Simon, look forward to the next ones

Thanks so much for the update, I use to love reading about the LAMBO in evo, I even saw it at one of the driving experience days near York.
I’ve been in that famous car!

I drove it way back, was one of those supercar driver days. I remember being told to keep a lid on rpm as it had only just had a engine rebuild 😬
A new car channel to watch. Thanks for sharing, whats in the pipeline next?
The 430 that's in the background and then all kinds of good stuff

Great concept! Happy to be your 365th subscriber! :)
Great car! What model Murcielago is it?
Thank you for creating this channel. I love the idea of driving these types of cars regularly. Just to confirm - the motor and gearbox are original?
If I got in that I'd never be able to get out again!

Nice. 🎉
How many of each component has it been through??? (Such as engines, gear boxes, clutches etc.) what a machine!
Original gearbox, second engine now but only just replaced the original and 10 clutches.
Pure love

I can just imagine a stranger being nosey, searching up the MOT and being gobsmacked that this car has that mileage 😂
I'm from the USA and I don't know what "tatty" means but I still get it. LOL 586th subscriber here!
Interested to know more about the mileage. The MOT history suggests it did 174k miles in a year….
