It’s so funny how broken games can get and how are these glitches preformed??? I may be asking the wrong person for information on how to perform those glitches but I would like to be told on how to do it
Honestly, one of the reasons I love retro games is that they are spectacular when they break down. Not only is the result usually a half playable, yet interestingly corrupted mess, there is still some sort of logical explanation and you can basically decode what went wrong on even a bit level.
I love the look too, it's so unique for every game, and is very interesting when you look into why it looks like that. Every game has its share of glitches, some are just more game breaking then others.
The end of that Luigi's Mansion glitch is really tight. Too far right and you'll fall out of bounds, too far left and you'll trigger the king boo cutscene, causing you to get sent back to start.
In super Mario world, there's also a glitch where you can overlap 2 Yoshis, have one Yoshi eat a koopa shell, lend on a moving platform, and spit it out to cause the game to have many forms of glitches.
@Conquest It's called Powerup Incrementation and the Brown Platform Spit Glitch, the game breaks very badly due to the way brown platforms work, if done well you can do things like make Flappy Bird in Mario World (someone did that once)
1:53 I discovered that one by complete accident in the official emulator on switch. Its about grabbing the thing that spawns when the boss dies before the game registers that you are without your ability. Unfortunately, it doesn't work with crash, as Mike hits throughout the animation, crash does the animation and then hits the enemies on screen at the same time it takes away the ability
1:05 When Mario grabs a coin from Yoshi's tongue, the game loads the next available sprite from memory to take its place. If it is a Chargin Chuck, Yoshi will eat it. Since Chargin Chucks are technically considered powerups, the game runs the code that should put the powerup in the reserve box but there is no code, so it interprets an arbitrary location in memory as code which usually crashes the game, but sometimes gives you unobtainable reserve box items. Yoshi eating a Chargin Chuck can cause the game to run the x positions of objects on screen as code, so if you set it up a certain way, you can go straight to the credits, or even run a game within the game.
@@APersonThat Yeah. If I recall correctly, Flappy Bird was either made by repurposing SMW code, or it was based on the manipulated string of SMW code that results in that.
I actually played Kirby’s Adventure on NES so much, I found that glitch when I was younger and abused the crap out of it cuz it made the game glitch out.
As the discoverer of the Castle Crush glitch in DKC2, it is worth putting up a disclaimer that the glitch can erase your saved data if done on the original SNES cartridge, as I can attest. Some others have reported even worse side effects if you can imagine that.
I was about to comment that myself! Also hey dude, cool to see you're still active and around. :) Your old website covering glitches was always a great read for me back in the day. (I'm pretty sure that's where I first learned about this glitch too!)
@@AlfieAston-ul6lp In extreme curcumstances, some have reported the inability for the console to even recognize the game as being valid. I was lucky to just lose all my saved progress in all slots, in comparison.
Here are a few things I thought I'd point out. 1:11 using this exact setup, if you pan the camera to the right to load in the charging chuck, then back to the left, and then perform the glitch with the coin, you can get a glitch item that allows you to finish any stage the moment you touch it. It's only one use though, so you'd have to keep getting them if you want infinite. Also, don't use the item in the switch palaces. It will not count as hitting the switch and you'll be locked out of having certain color blocks for the rest of the game (unless you have savestates or rewind like SNES Online or any other emulator) 5:41 it is important to note that after jumping off the platform to save and quit, once you reload the file you *can not* get hit until encountering this soldier. Taking damage before this point results in you losing the glitched state. You also want the soldier to hit you somewhere along that specific walkway if you want to enter the walls. 11:20 I just found this part humorous. The bulblin just casually walks away after seeing Midna grab Link and drag him through the portal
Not quite for the Chuck glitch. The item you get is based on Mario's state at the time. Here, Mario got hit before the Chuck was swallowed, so the game crashed. You have to duck and not be hit, staying as Fire Mario in order to get the Orb.
@@budgetcoinhunter what did Mario get hit by? He hit the dragon with the fire ball before coming in contact with anything, so by the time he did hit something, it was the coin that Yoshi was already swallowing Edit: nvm. I slowed the video down and saw the chuck. 2nd Edit: just tested both versions out, and it only seems to crash if you *don't* pan the camera over to the chuck and back as I'd mentioned 3rd Edit: I'm probably going to keep editing this, but I discovered that you don't always have to pan the camera as you'd mentioned, but it also seems that you also don't always have to crouch. That is just for safety, to ensure that the crash doesn't occur. 4th Edit (possibly the last one assuming I can't find anything after this): you are right about the fact that you can't be hit (I don't seem to have mentioned that), you just don't always have to crouch to avoid it. You just need to keep moving towards the right, as the chuck will appear on top of you if you don't, causing the crash. Crouching (as I'd mentioned in the 3rd edit) is an extra safety measure to prevent the crash.
@@TwilitGamer01 So, after the coin is collected, the object slot on Yoshi's tongue can be occupied by something else, in this case the Chargin' Chuck that gets scrolled onto the screen. Chuck still has his hitbox as he's being eaten, so you have to duck in order to avoid being hit and causing the crash. (a behavior you'll quickly notice if you try to eat a mini-dino in Chocolate Island 1 as it's blowing fire at you) if you pause the video right as the coin is collected and use the period and comma keys to advance/rewind frame-by-frame, you'll see the Chuck show up for enough time to collide with Mario.
@@budgetcoinhunter yeah, I made four edits to my last reply noting the things I'd realized after reading your first one. I think the reason I was so confused is because the guide I had used to perform the glitch had already told everyone to duck while moving right, so by instinct, I was already doing that and thus was never actually aware of the chuck. But thanks for clarifying anyways Edit: also, I'm on mobile, so sadly, the period and comma keys don't have that effect. The time stamp I added worked tho

1:56 "...allows Kirby to use Mike over 250 times." I like that it's an oddly specific number. Like yeah, doing this glitch let's you use this move *this* many times.
It'd be 255 (FF) most likely, which is the maximum for a 1 byte unsigned int. My guess is somehow killing him in that specific way causes the counter to underflow.
@@azzarox6661 presumably because that's where the star rod spawns when you beat him. I'm guessing it just underflows the counter without giving the game a chance to despawn the copy ability since it goes into the victory sequence.
@@azzarox6661 This is just guesswork on my part, but I believe it would work something like this: You have a byte sized variable to keep track of how many times Mike has been used. Every time you use Mike, the counter increments by 1. Also, every time you use Mike and increment the counter, the game checks to see if the counter's value is equal to 3. If so, it removes the Mike ability. Defeating Paint Roller with the Mike in the center of the room causes the battle to end before the game can take your ability away. So the counter is incremented to 3, but you still have the ability. So the next time you use it, the counter increments to 4. And since the check only checks to see if the counter is equal to 3, it lets you keep the ability even after incrementing the counter to 4. Then you can keep using the ability to increment the counter to 5, 6, all the way to 255. The next increment causes the counter to reset to 0, after which you can increment it to 3 again and lose the ability like normal.
@@aethix1986 That could be it, actually... the completing-the-battle sequence being given priority to complete over the Mike routine would make sense too, since you don't wanna soft lock the game.

In super metroid there is a way to combine the spazer beam and the plasma beam, wich is normally impossibe. If you use this glitch to combine every beam upgrade except for the wave beam, you get a glitched beam wich you can use in a certain way to warp back to the beginning of the game without losing any upgrades.
First of all, that would be interesting to see; second of all, glitches in LM1 actually contribute to the creepy atmosphere that game already has. Think about it: an unnatural mansion; and glitches cause unnatural things.
When I saw Brawl at 1:18, I thought we were gonna see the "black hole glitch". The black hole glitch is a glitch first found in Super Smash Bros Melee (and replicatable) involving Reflector, Vegetable, and the Super Scope. The many thrown Vegetables become stuck in a crossfire caused by the scope. If players touch the Vegetables, they will quickly take heavy damage. IIRC, if too many veggies are tossed, it can lag/freeze the game.
The SMW glitch only causes a crash if you get *hit* by the Chuck as it's placed on Yoshi's tongue. If you duck and stay Fire Mario, instead you get a weird object placed into your item box that's actually a Goal Orb, and this glitch is used in speedrunning to quickly skip a stage (usually the first Castle).
In Kirby's Adventure (NES Emulator/Virtual Console Only, impossible to perform on NES Online and 3D Classics) there's a glitch that has the potential to cause the credits to play but can also warp you to different areas in the game's code (which includes debug and test rooms), cause audio glitches or straight up crash the game. It can be preformed in 6-1 in the mid-boss room with the Rolling Turtle enemy, the devs made the platform Kirby stands on a breakable block. By using the Stone ability twice (once to break the block and again to perform the glitch) you can cause all kinds of chaos to the game. This glitch is exclusive to the original NES release, emulated copies and the Virtual Console re-release as the 3D Classics version of Kirby's Adventure not only gave a more stable framerate but also patch several major/minor bugs too, while the NES Online version automatically prevents the glitch from happening by showing the "Error has occurred" notification before the glitch can actually occur. A slightly harder/more tedious version of the glitch can be performed in 1-1 by doing the slope glitch and then using Stone near the water next to the Maximum Tomato.
Yeah, TAS speedruners used that glitch to break the game's code and send you instantly to the credits. An similar bug also exists in Lady Sia for the GBA too. 😅
Especially the pokemon one. I saw another comment here that said as a kid they accidentally did it and did nothing out of the ordinary from what you would normally do and it corrupted their save file.
The sword skip is part of the speedrun route in TP runs. Only thing is, they do another skip as well that automatically gives them a bunch of items including the sword and hero’s tunic

Worship the Kirbo.
In super metroid there is a way to combine the spazer beam and the plasma beam, wich is normally impossibe. If you use this glitch to combine every beam upgrade except for the wave beam, you get a glitched beam wich you can use in a certain way to warp back to the beginning of the game without losing any upgrades.

welcome to the backrooms, luigi...
First of all, that would be interesting to see; second of all, glitches in LM1 actually contribute to the creepy atmosphere that game already has. Think about it: an unnatural mansion; and glitches cause unnatural things.
8:07 although slow to skip somewhere, it's a nice glitch
The Earthbound one looks like Ness had a stroke, was caught off guard by a crow, and instantly got beaten up so hard he died.
Wario losing his mustache also comes with the possibly more problematic issue of losing his arms! 😮
Kirby destroying the fabrics of reality to kill the sun and moon
LOL. 😅
Apparently the sun and moon hogged a huge supply of food and didn't tell kirby

7:43 And so Ness was pecked to death by a crow. The End…?
For the skipping the sword and shield in TWP, I think you can still use the jump out of bounds spot and get the Master Sword at that point
I just love videos of people glitching out games because its so interesting what happens to it
Haven't seen the Luigi Mansion glitch with that movement. Definitely don't remember clipping into rec room
Its apted the name: "Chest Glitch"
Because, that chest clip allows you to clip OOB into an black void outside of the mansion...😅
No Super Mario 64 ? That game is full of glitches 😅😂
Yeah, but none of them are really game breaking, expect for the softlocks or BLJ Skips...😅

7:45 no wonder its called a skip sandwich
Because of the name of the item used. ¯\_( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)_/¯
Nice I love these types of videos
Love these type of videos very interesting
Yeah, i love game breaking glitches.
Expect for data corruption ones...
I remember doing the LttP glitch and thinking I was so cool

Lunar Princess Ranni was in Smash before Elden Ring Confirmed.
The problem with some of these is that they're plausible enough that someone has probably done them by accident XD
Especially the pokemon one. I saw another comment here that said as a kid they accidentally did it and did nothing out of the ordinary from what you would normally do and it corrupted their save file.
0:48 he's vibin
Isn't there a similar Super Mario World glitch that's used to setup a credits warp?
Yes.
Yes. And here's a video showcasing and explaining it if you're interested

The sword skip is part of the speedrun route in TP runs. Only thing is, they do another skip as well that automatically gives them a bunch of items including the sword and hero’s tunic

Oh really???
Idk if it's been covered but in TLOZ Twilight Princess Wii version, there is a glitch that lets you be in the opening scene of the game, go to Arbiter's Ground, the left patch of quick sand, go in it, let Link sink until you can barely see the fingers and restart the game!
If you press a button, it freezes the whole console and gotta unplug the wii then replug it to make it work again
Back in time, you mean? Its already been covered a decent bit
Why the hell hasn't twilight princess been ported to the switch yet

Is it true that DKC2 glitch can possibly on a rare occasion ruin the DKC2 game cartridge and the SuperNES console itself?
(But doesn't harm anything in the Virtual Console or NSO versions.)
Yes, it does REALLY harm your DKC2 cartidge, if this is done on real hardware.
It can have an chance to turn the cartidge into an brick, if the ROM corruption is bigger...😅
Yeah dont try it on real hardware or your game will become toast

Can you cheese the entire boss rush in Kirby's Adventure with that glitch?
I think you have to use the Star Rod for Nightmare but everyone else is possible?
Probably...🤔
ive now cheesed the boss rush with it a few times, by far the easiest method to do it
