I don't know what is up with the Kirby franchise, but it's got some spooky villains (although considering that it shares a universe with Metroid via Dreamland 3, that could have something to do with it, seeing as how even the Nightmare in Metroid is as wonky as it is).
I think a pretty good example of "in-between" is Magman from Kirby 64. From the cuteness perspective, it is just a lava blob with cute eyes and a funny mouth, plus it looks kinda dumb. From the creepiness perspective, it shoots large lava pillars and at its second phase it looks disturbing and humongous
It's funny to see Giratina on here when that scene isn't even connected to its boss fight, which is considerably milder. Shame they didn't recreate that scene for PLA but then again, "GIRATINA, STRIKE THEM DOWN!" is pretty damn terrifying. Giyagas is one of the most iconic and memorable boss battles in video game history. The fact that your only hope to beating him is by praying is so awesome to me.
Nintendo sometimes need to chill. I remember when i was a kid that i was scared as hell sawing Dead Hand and Giygas. Look what they made to my boy Kirby, from a colorful game talking about friendship to a random change of style with creepy elements
Even at 21, Hegemon Edelgard in Azure Moon of Three Houses really creeped me out. The Imperial Princess was an unholy abomination. Changed beyond all recognition as our Great Lord says to her.
Might as well add in the final boss at the end of the Cindered Shadows DLC. Of all the things, I've seen in Three Houses that thing might be the most terrifying.
It's worse now that we know what happens when she's transformed forcibly.... Even if that scenario did create a huge plot hole. On a tangentially related note, if we ignore actual aesthetics and boss battle quality, Manfroy's probably the scariest boss in the series. Not because of how he looks or his power (his fight is pretty underwhelming), but because of what he's done and what he will do if you don't stop him. It's kind of a shame that both times Intsys tried to do a character like him again, they kinda fell flat on their faces.
Ocarina of time I can understand (other then redeads and dead hand and the entirety of the shadow temple) but majoras mask? The final boss is weird the transformation scenes can be creepy af the frickin part in ikana with the slightly zombified dad in the music house with 500 redeads around and aliens abducting cows and removing memory's and Don't think I forgot about the 3 day timer before the world ends to the moon and its face
13:13. Oh my gosh! It’s been 20 years since I’ve seen jack. I was scared of him and this video really helped me get over this fear. So I really thank you for that. Why did the developers decide to make the room pitch black and jack an unsettling green with a design like that, and why is he so f**king big!? Literally all of these factors made him terrifying in the first place in my eyes. The best decision they made with this boss is the funny ending which gets me every time which is nice.

To be fair it didn't kill him but we don't know that right away. Also he reacts so dully because he's still trying to convince everyone, including himself, that he's emotionless.
Giant Baby Bowser wasn’t scary for me as a kid, but what really scared me was the rock boss in Mario Galaxy That and the souls aimlessly floating in the galaxy the boss is set in Surprised you didn’t include him
0:32 Some enemies and bosses in video games might have unsettled me over the years, but the Winter Windster here... this guy is the ONLY one that actually gave me nightmares. (Second closest is unironically from a Wario Land game too. Specifically Rudy, the final boss from WL3. Massive clown with a deformed face, skull decals, and a terrifying mouth of sharp, blood red teeth who is the ONLY way to get a genuine game over if he grabs you.)
Somehow the Giratina jumpscare managed to scare me as a child. And when I played it again it still got me scared, that's how good Nintendo is to create unsettling and terrifying stuff.
Kingfin actually scared the shit out of me when i was a kid, i never actually defeated that optional boss as a kid as a result, only fought it when i played the game again later as a teenager.
Don't be. It's one of the easiest bosses in the game. Once you reach the second phase of the fight, it literally stops attacking you. I've never actually played Twilight Princess, but I don't even think TOUCHING it will hurt you.
I’ve always loved these moments, mainly because they feel like they aren’t supposed to be there. It’s Nintendo, they’re a clean and squeaky company, so when you see something like giygas, you don’t know how to feel. It’s like a real life creepypasta. And it’s those moments that stick with you the most. I’ve never even played earthbound and I can instantly recognize giygas. Bosses like dead hand, giratina’s cutscene, and literally everything from wario world. It’s these moments that stick with you for years after you’ve played the game, because you’ve felt like you’ve killed a true monster, something that doesn’t belong in this bright and happy world. In most horror games, you’re expecting the fear and the uncertainty, but you never expect zero to rip his eye out just to continue fighting you. You never expect to see Luigi hanging in the back ground of the mansion. That’s true fear to me, seeing monsters where they shouldn’t be. There shouldn’t be a demon in your closet or under your bed, your room is supposed to be your safe place, the place you’re most vulnerable because you’re asleep. Seeing monsters when you feel safe, that’s horror to me
I feel like Golden Diva is a way creepier boss than the first one. I would also like to nominate Koloktus and final form Ghirahim from Skyward Sword those are creepy for different reasons.
The entire final boss sequence from Majora's Mask needs a mention too. Really almost that entire game was a nightmare inducing creepypasta, long before Ben Drowned.
I did think the Porky boss fight in Smash Brawl was creepy because not only is it some child inside a spider-like machine, but that ram attack is what's so terrifying about that boss because it looks like a monster is trying to consume you or something.
Another scary thing about Baby Bowser is that he can actually run until he reaches you and destroys the ground. Someone called it the "Black hole Bowser" 😄
Nightmare and Crocomire were so scary, Crocomire in Super Metroid is pushed to the Lava and then we see how horrible is the way that Crocomire dies, as for Nightmare, that thing is disgusting and pretty creepy, but nothing is scarier than 02 from Kirby, that beast seems like it was made by H.P. Lovecraft
For these bosses I wonder how everybody at Nintendo said: "Yeah that'll fit..." Most of them are so outstanding crazy, brutal, gory or frightening it's like they came from nowhere and possessed a cute child game. Take Mario Odyssey as an example. A cute game with fantastic funny and cuddly creatures.... AND INCOMES A 250m tall 4K Enderdragon!!!
First time playing Metroid Fusion I had no idea what was in store for me, and when Nightmare finally showed it self what set me off most was it’s boss music, but then the armor came off and I saw it’s goopy slimey green face. It’s wors when it’s at low health cause not only are my missiles useless now!, but dear God it’s face is practically hanging on by a thread!. But the worst part didn’t come from Fusion, it was Other M thinking it was a great idea to give it the sounds of a newborn baby!, I mean come on it was creepy enough already!.🤣😱
Interesting that, except for Kingfin and Blizzeta, all of these are from earlier console generations. Also, can't speak for other people, but the Thunder Dragon in Mario Odyssey isn't terribly too scary and in my personal opinion Morpheel or Zant would've fit Twilight princess's representation here much better.
Even then TP is pretty old nowadays Also I feel blizzeta works due to the corruption of the twilight mirror. I'll give you Zant (especially his death) but morpheal honestly isn't that scary since he barely attacks you
I personally think the Conkur’s Bad Fur Day Dog fish is scary. The music and gameplay that goes with it is fantastic. Lots of creepy bosses in that game come to mention it

I've got some idea's for a game of my own and I want to have a reeeeeally creepy part toward the end: the game will have 6 secret bosses across the multiple areas, each giving you a "Nexus Core Fragment" and a hidden memory from the main villain from before he became evil. If you get all 6, you can proceed to the true "Daybringer" ending, where you fight a giant god demon. Before that part, you gotta go through this dingy, abandoned lab, where you meet a little alien called Detavoid that the former owners of the lab were experimenting on. He just stares at you before a little implant on his chest starts flashing and he transforms into a monster, with his legs turning into tentacles and tendrils growing out of its back. Once he turns, he stares at you a little longer before charging at you and the fight begins. Soooooo....what do ya think?

I think there was a dragon in Skyrim who was also voiced by Charles Martinet. Odyssey may have referenced that with the dragon boss
Yep, it was the dragon who sits on the Throat of the World. He’s the leader of the Gray Beards
Paarthurnax.
the ruins dragon? yeah,i'm scared of him.
It's-a me, Paarthurnax!
Spoiler Warning for Kirby Forgotten Land
You should have put Fecto Forgo. (Unless you just have not played the game and don’t know who he is) but that thing was straight up disturbing.
Is nobody gonna talk about Yoshi’s Island final boss theme being such a banger, sounds like it gets a seat at Plok’s table
11:02 Are people seriously thinking this was creepy? I personally just thought it was freaking awesome
The way it makes that noise when you ground pound it’s head
Giyagas is one of the most iconic and memorable boss battles in video game history. The fact that your only hope to beating him is by praying is so awesome to me.
Nintendo sometimes need to chill. I remember when i was a kid that i was scared as hell sawing Dead Hand and Giygas. Look what they made to my boy Kirby, from a colorful game talking about friendship to a random change of style with creepy elements
Morpheel from Twilight Princess was my first experience with thalassophobia. Dark Link from OoT was also creepy!
To quote Doug Walker aka Nostalgia Critic: *You know for kids!*
Avgn is better
@@davisvoelzke8011 I thought the same
And from John Tron: "If it's good for the kids, it's good for the adults!"
Not to mention she's on heroes!
6:40 When I fought giygas I realized how long the game is compared to other games.
If you were scared of the dragon in Mario Odyssey
You really shouldn't, your probably 3 if your scared of that
Remember that Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask are rated E for everyone
So were kirby's dream land 3 and kirby 64
So is Metroid Fusion
@@edgyanole9705 Kirby Dream Land 3, because of boss butch lose screens, etc...
@@IvanFranco120 64 because of shiver star, ripple star catacombs ect.
Nintendo games: *are rated E for everyone*
Also Nintendo games:
Rated E or Emocionally scared...
13 years old me: pokemon platium looks very cute, it will be cool to play!
Me: * I see cyrus being killed by giratina*
Also me:I MADE A BAD CHOICE
when I was 13 I ruined my life, but how could cyrus not be afraid and say "Interesting " instead of screaming?
To be fair it didn't kill him but we don't know that right away. Also he reacts so dully because he's still trying to convince everyone, including himself, that he's emotionless.
Giant Baby Bowser wasn’t scary for me as a kid, but what really scared me was the rock boss in Mario Galaxy
That and the souls aimlessly floating in the galaxy the boss is set in
Surprised you didn’t include him
I would say that the Shadow Queen from Paper Mario: TTYD would fit in this category. Maybe even the Shroobs from Mario & Luigi: PIT
Same
@Marissa Mayton unless it's Cynthia's Spiritomb. Then he feels like a final boss
@@david_8916 Cue the music.
Dang I just looked up a pic of Rudy...Yeah I would’ve freaked out seeing that as a kid!
That riff from Yoshi's Island still gives me the hibbie jibbies to this day.
And there were definitely more creepier ghosts in Luigi’s Mansion, Bogmire was honestly the most subtle of them all
When Cyrus in Pokémon jumped out towards the screen, the TH-cam ad just popped out of nowhere.
Emperor Ing, Mother Brain complete form, Metroid Prime are creepier/more unsettling Metroid bosses than Nightmare imo.
You should add “Bongo Bongo” from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
Bongo bongo wasn’t as bad as dead hand.
Bruh, freaking Fecto Forgo in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. How'd you miss that one
Ahhhh yes, everyone’s favorite eldritch goop monster
I'm pretty sure whoever made this is permanently stuck in 2012, that's how
To be fair Metroid Fusion was just a bucket full of nightmare fuel
Because I'm scared of the SA-X and nightmare from the same game
@Delushi Kong-And so is Metroid Dread!
I love how after beating the Lord of Lightning (Ruined Dragon), if you go back and talk to him, he tells you he's tired. Let the poor man sleep.
Somehow the Giratina jumpscare managed to scare me as a child. And when I played it again it still got me scared, that's how good Nintendo is to create unsettling and terrifying stuff.
This looks like the kind of videos I used to watch in 2010-2013, and I love it
I honestly didn’t find giritina that scary my first time seeing it.
I found Giratina scary first time cause later he smiles and then jumps at you. Definitely creeped me out tho.
Somehow I had never seen a second of footage from wario world up until this video despite playing nintendo games for like 20+ years
Kingfin actually scared the shit out of me when i was a kid, i never actually defeated that optional boss as a kid as a result, only fought it when i played the game again later as a teenager.
The thing about TP is a lot of bosses are scary. I was horrified of the water temple one
Seeing monsters when you feel safe, that’s horror to me
I've played Earthbound and giygas still terrifies me to this day
8:45 now THIS, this is pure art, THE PERFECT BLEEDING EYEBALL.
9:25 THIS TRANSITION IS PERFECTION
I feel like Golden Diva is a way creepier boss than the first one.
I would also like to nominate Koloktus and final form Ghirahim from Skyward Sword those are creepy for different reasons.
Koloktos 😂
The entire final boss sequence from Majora's Mask needs a mention too. Really almost that entire game was a nightmare inducing creepypasta, long before Ben Drowned.
Same
I did think the Porky boss fight in Smash Brawl was creepy because not only is it some child inside a spider-like machine, but that ram attack is what's so terrifying about that boss because it looks like a monster is trying to consume you or something.
You missed most of metroid creepy as heck bosses.
Oh, Don't forget Mr. I chase your sorry butt (waterwraith)
The boss that jumpscares you in legend of Zelda? Skyward sword?
(Sees iron doors)
Ohhhhh. That boss.
why does dead hand or whatever its called look like SCP 096
Another scary thing about Baby Bowser is that he can actually run until he reaches you and destroys the ground.
Someone called it the "Black hole Bowser" 😄
The music is what he rules,
The guitar is what he shreds,
But most importantly,
He’ll make you pee your beds.
Smash Brawl had the creepy Mother boss battle, it scared me when i saw it for the first time and realised I had to fight it.
Do you mean Porky? Yeah, that one freaked me out when I was a kid, too.
I found shadow dedede from Kirby triple deluxe quite creepy, mostly because of the part where his belly turns into a mouth and he tries to suck you up
Nightmare and Crocomire were so scary, Crocomire in Super Metroid is pushed to the Lava and then we see how horrible is the way that Crocomire dies, as for Nightmare, that thing is disgusting and pretty creepy, but nothing is scarier than 02 from Kirby, that beast seems like it was made by H.P. Lovecraft
The Scariest final boss death have to be Marx Soul
Giygas and Zero were it for me. Cool and Terrifying
Dead Hand looks more goofy than scary to me and Giant Bowser,Lord of Lightning and Zero Two were more creepy cool
For these bosses I wonder how everybody at Nintendo said: "Yeah that'll fit..."
Most of them are so outstanding crazy, brutal, gory or frightening it's like they came from nowhere and possessed a cute child game. Take Mario Odyssey as an example. A cute game with fantastic funny and cuddly creatures.... AND INCOMES A 250m tall 4K Enderdragon!!!
Mega Baby Bowser has a sick beat, that gave me a great image in my head.
Baby Bowser shredding it on the guitar.
I've never been into horror, but quite like nightmare fuel stuff on Nintendo games, as weird as it sounds
But I do like a lot of horror films
Even then TP is pretty old nowadays
Also I feel blizzeta works due to the corruption of the twilight mirror. I'll give you Zant (especially his death) but morpheal honestly isn't that scary since he barely attacks you
I mean galaxy is only two years younger.
Morpheel is meant more for the people with Thalassophobia, which is a good amount of people.
@@StarlightEcho912 never heard of that one lol
@@blitz4779 Ocean fear
I honestly feel kinda bad for Nightmare, it looks like it’s in constant agony
You forgot about Andross from Starfox 64 he scared me as a kid
Thought the same too
I personally think the Conkur’s Bad Fur Day Dog fish is scary. The music and gameplay that goes with it is fantastic. Lots of creepy bosses in that game come to mention it
Kingfin and the Ruined Dragon aren’t scary, they’re the most badass looking bosses Nintendo has ever made (in my opinion).
I agree.
The badass boss Nintendo has ever made is Bouldergeist
@@patcahill3724 oh yeah I forgot that one lol
The earthbound looks like a Mr. incredible uncanny phrase
5:13 technically it was made by HAL labs, which is also the company that makes kirby, As well as APE, which made the first mother game without HAL
You mean Nintendo ?
@@not_a_real_handle they're separate companies. They also seem to have different goals. Like, nintendo hates their fans, and make very crappy anniversary things, like skyward sword and mario all stars. HAL loves their fans, makes theories cannon, and produce amazing anniversary specials
The Eel at the bottem of the ocean in Sunshine made me quit playing it for 10 years, and the skelefish boss in Galaxy scared me enough to pass it to my sibling to beat
Giygas gets scarier when you see his design from MOTHER 1; while the design isn't scary, it looking like an albino Mewtwo, the fact that Giygas went from that to whatever the hell is Earthbound form is, and it makes you wonder how he turned into that
Well technically his Earthbound form is him even before his birth, while his Mother form is him as a fully grown entity/alien, so he went from a nightmarish mass of whatever into Mewtwo
@@CalmtimerNo , stop it with the fetus theory , Shigesato Itoi the creator of the series debunked it .
After Guigue lost in Mother 1 , he went to gain more and more power which began to destroy his mind and body which is why he is in the Devil's machine to so it would prevent the destruction of his mind and body and the Devil's machine looks like a brain and not an uterus and in that machine Giygas was able to be mentally strong enough to comand his army of Starmen , other aliens and robots .
@@Vrabsher_-Supreme_Perhinther- ok
@@Vrabsher_-Supreme_Perhinther- That honestly makes a lot of sense; never was a fan of the fetus theory anyway tbh; also, imagine if what happened to Giygas happened to Porky as well-
@@redacculous well at least porky / pokey sealed himself inside the absolutely safe capaule for all of eternity.

Honestly, yoshi's Island final Boss os the best i've ever seen
I've got some idea's for a game of my own and I want to have a reeeeeally creepy part toward the end:
the game will have 6 secret bosses across the multiple areas, each giving you a "Nexus Core Fragment" and a hidden memory from the main villain from before he became evil.
@Serpentine Oh my god, I cannot believe how freaking ironic this is. The game's main villain's name is actually Phantom King Serpentine. What are the chances, haha. Anyway, I'm glad you like it....your majesty.
Imagine if Dead Hand returned in Tears of the Kingdom.
With the same creppy design and a Resident Evil 1 zombie esque introduction scene.
