    A colour analysis session is a once-off experience to discover your colours for life.
    A palette is a collection of colours that emphasise your natural chromatic characteristics, making you look radiant and healthy. Colour analysis identifies your personal palette by examining your natural characteristics (undertone, intensity and value).
    A colour analysis session will make you discover something new about yourself and give you the knowledge to shop less and better and to improve your wardrobe and style.

    I saw a video the other day addressing the crossover of light/deep and bright/soft on opposite sides of warm cool. They explained it this way. Yellow is at full saturation at a light value. Red at medium value and blue at deep value. As such warm colors are going to be brightest when light to medium in value. Thus spring has the brighter colors. As soon as you start toning (adding gray to soften) or shading (adding black to darken) colors soften as they get darker and desaturate thus autumn has the deep end soft colors. It is vice versa on the cool side because blue is much darker at full saturation. That means greens. blues, and violets are going to be medium to deep in value at full saturation. Thus winters get deep and bright. When I tone or tint (add white to lighten) my colors get lighter and softer. Thus summers are light and soft.

      Very nice. I always wonder about the relationship between value and the seasons because it's never really explained, but after watching so many videos I started suspecting the value was a somewhat ineherent quality of warm/cool colors, example: the more intense and warmer a color is, the lighter it's gonna get. Your comment is basically a thorough explanation of this concept.
      Care to say what's the video you watched? Thank you

    • @tomjones2157
      @tomjones2157 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @MaryYoungblood-xy8vg It's only partly true. Technically you don't get Autumn colors by adding black, as that is for Winters, you add a bit of their complementary ( opposite) color to desaturate them. And Summer shades get white AND black added to them (ie grey), so they are both deepened and lightened at the same time.

    • @tomjones2157

    I am a soft autumn and lately love to wear baby blue, which is not really in my palette. I just pick a dirtier baby blue and pair it with brown hair bands and earrings and soft makeup. That’s how I make colours wearable that I love. I do the same with lilac all the time, I actually wear a lot of summer colours and just make them wearable with accessories.

    The second question was a good one, and I wish you had given it a little more attention. I think what they were pointing out is that the 12 season system does not give an option for the combinations of light/warm/soft, dark/warm/bright, light/cool/bright, or dark/cool/soft. For example, I know someone who has very high contrast, is cool toned, and cannot wear jewel tones. She is much better suited to soft colors. This person would likely be assigned "dark winter" in the 12 season system, but these colors might be too vibrant for her. Because the winter pallet always leans bright. Some of the soft summer colors might work well on her, but the summer pallet would not accommodate for her contrast, and the fact that she looks great in dark colors, including black. Would you be able to address this? Have you ever had a client who did not fit well into one of the 12 combinations? Thank you!

      they are actually using a 16 season system (the usually 12 and the true seasons, for example cool and true winter are not the same type). My mom is the same type (cool, soft and deep) and is in the cool summer (in some systems deep/dark summer) category because of that but she goes much more into winter than into the other summers. I believe Katherine of Wales is another great example for this. It's not 12 or 16 boxes who you must exactly neatly fit in.

    I'm a darker soft summer with dark blonde hair and hazel eyes. Most examples of summer palette online are of girls with blue eyes and that can lead to some confusion I guess. Basically when I go shopping, I specifically look for muted colors. Summer light is too light and summer cool is too cool on me. Soft autumn is often a better alternative fit overall. If I could choose my own color palette, it would probably be spring. Those juicy colors make me very jealous. Right now it's spring around me and I keep admiring the colors in nature.

    • @nellivilhelmiina
      @nellivilhelmiina หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      I’m also a darker soft summer, definitely with a warm skin overtone. But i think I lean more to other summer palets than autumn. I love pink, and usually I see variations of it that are too light or bright for me, but I still wear those colours some times since I have shirts like that in my wardrobe. but i gotta admit, staying darker and softer in my colours are the most sophisticated looking on me.

      @florist7743 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@emmadavey3892That's right, looks especially harmonious if the metal isn't extremely shiny and polished, like a very shiny silver for example. Even metal can look muted, I'm not sure how the finish is called exactly. I love our palette too and strangely it somehow fits my personality.

      @florist7743 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nellivilhelmiinaI keep buying clothes that aren't optimal for me too sometimes, I'm not that strict when I really like something. Can't resist light summer especially, it's so beautiful.

  • @apetrie
    @apetrie หลายเดือนก่อน +5

    I was mistyped many times a spring because I'm obviously warm (over and undertones) but my eyes are a cool, bright light green. Not bluish, but more blue than yellow/brown. Thus according to the old rules and generalizations, I'm a spring. Those colours absolutely scream on me, way too bright and light. I look dull. My Dad and his two siblings are the only other people I've met with this eye colour, and they are radically different colouring from me otherwise. How can my eyes dictate my type when my Dad is a textbook winter with identical eyeballs?
    I'm not sure what kind of Autumn I am because all the subgroups seem to suit me (soft is notably a little bit too muted, but that's all I can tell) but in my heart I'm still a goth so my wardrobe is dominated by 'dark autumn' colours. Anyway, somewhere in 'autumn' lies the truth, and I guess my point is to fully agree that the eyes are way overblown and there are unfortunately still many pushing that idea, even professionals.

    A few of these questions actually got addressed during my session with Alessandra. My partner was analysed as a True Spring because we couldn’t determine his dominant trait, Bright Spring was a bit too intense, Light Spring was good, and Warm Spring was too soft. So you would think that Summer Light would have had some usable colours, but it really didn’t. We concluded that he was probably a True Spring when he was younger and has lost some intensity with age.
    I was analysed as Bright Winter, which also made so much sense because I shared a lot of Bright Spring colours. All those low intensity warm colours I had been buying in the last few years are my worst enemy apparently 😂😂

    So many people get confused by overtone and undertone. Particuarly because in makeup the tone of the foundation is referred to as the undertone. Also, people think that if they need a cool makeup tone they are cool in colour analysis. Wrong! I have a warm undertone - light spring - but my complexion colour - overtone- is cool, and I need porcelain pink tones. So warm tone makeup in blush, lipsticks and eyeshadow but cool tone in foundation, concealer and powder.

The green eyed question was a light bulb moment- my eyes are green I have struggled with green over the years as I often will get gifted something green. Case in point a green sweater I received this Christmas-a very cool green. I just couldn’t bring myself to wear other than once to please the giver. A year later, I have incorporated a number of warmer pieces in my wardrobe and I don’t understand how I couldn’t see how much they complement my skin prior to my colour analysis. I can’t go back to wearing cool colours, I look sick and sallow. I have also found that I have a lot more outfits with fewer clothes because almost everything goes well together.

    So helpful again! A tip, I've been really enjoying changing the buttons on shirts especially.. and especially with thrifted and vintage shirts, a new button, and a button in the right colour for yourself can COMPLETELY change the look of the shirt and how well it matches you.. and I imagine now as im learning this, it could make the difference between a borderline colour enough to shift the overall look much more harmoniously towards something that works personally for your season, as well as updating the era on a vintage piece or even something kept from before.
    Also realy appreciate this on jewellery.. after i watched your first videos a few days ago I changed all my peircings to gold and it completely changed the look of my face!! Today i went through my ither jewellery and found a warm silver in a beaten and soft finish that actually looks really warm and soft on my skin - a surprise for me, and even more surprising was a gifted tuquise necklance that i assumed would be a suitable warm blue but was actually really draining and too ashy or soft or dark or something for my looks. So interesting to see all these things with new eyes! Im having so much fun! Thank you! 😊🙏

    Like eye color, hair color and skin overtones can really throw you off. I was analyzed as a winter 40 years ago even though I had freckles, my dark brown hair had definite coppery highlights, and sometimes my skin has warm overtones. Pre menopause, I could fudge a bit and wear some warmer colors. Now that I’ve lost a lot of contrast with aging, I find I really have to stick to my palette to avoid looking washed out or sallow.

    So happy to see you again ladies, just these days i've checked your channel thinking probably i've missed your uploads 😅! I will be very honest i do tend to wear warm or soft palettes but not so much the deep autumn , something about the dark colours never loved in my wardrobe.

    I'm fairly sure I'm some type of winter and for the most part like the colours. But my second pick, if I could choose a season, would be autumn. I love how warm the colours are and how amazing monochromatic outfits can look. That was definitely a wakeup call bc my sibling is most likely an autumn and I tried borrowing some of their colours. But where they glowed, I just kind of greyed out lol. They don't work for me at all though I can get away with some warm-ish colours if I combine them with something better for me.

    I was analysed as a autumn in the 80 is, later as a spring bright, then as a winter. I was never really happy. Know i made a new analysis in switzerland and i am really a summer. I am happy now i don’t need match makeup to look good 👍

    You guys helped me out a lot, even though I’m a darker blonde and evidently cool-toned (I look terrible in any amount of warmth). So, a lot of people would put me in summer. I noticed that the light subgroup and soft subgroup are terrible, and cool summer is too muted. So, you’ve definitely helped me get closer to an answer.

    • @SueRosalie

      all neutrals have undertones, especially grey. There are 3 possible undertones for grey. They are either green (warm), blue, or violet (both cool). Concrete and stone have the green undertone. When the grey trend took off in home design, people rushed out and painted their home exteriors in violet toned greys then wondered why it looked bad and people asked them "why did you paint your house purple". They did not realise the importance of undertones. Exterior grey in Australia needs to have the warm green undertone unless you want the blue or violet look on purpose.

    Question from Argentina:
    I consider that I am winter brilliant. I have all the characteristics for it, my skin shines, my hair and skin and eyes have contrast and the colors of that season suit me great.
    Many fellow image consultants here in my country told me that I couldn't be bright because I had brown eyes.
    I think and believe because of how the colors suit me very well that I am bright, people tell me how good it looks on me and those good expressions.
    I am right ? Can I be with brown eyes?
    thank you! I am also an image consultant, I always follow them.

  • @ellixrose2650

    I'm amazed how both of you love the summer soft palette the most, because it is my favourite too. I have seen some people online dislike it as too dull or whatever, but it's such a fascinatingly beautiful one for me. It's interesting how divided people seem to be when it comes to their preference for either bright or soft. I'm wondering about your client's preferences so far.
    Since I'm a warm autumn too, I will also look like a ghost in it. 😄 tried it many times before discovering color theory, but it never had the effect I wanted. 😄

    • @nellivilhelmiina
      @nellivilhelmiina หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      As a soft summer that palette is definitely the most sophisticated on me, but I do struggle sometimes because i like stronger colours. I feel like they fit my personality more. But a cool and light pink for example is a bit much on me. I still accomodate these colours in my style, but balance them out with the softer colours. Luckily I love grey and different whites as neutrals. 😀

    • @ellixrose2650
      @ellixrose2650 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@nellivilhelmiina I agree, we use colors to go with our personalities also. It's a bit of a mixture, that also makes it fit intuitively, because we can sense someone's vibe. My friend is a bright spring, and her personality fits so well with it also, that bright spring looks dreamy and fascinating on her, and not all that bright, because she is, and she never really strays from her palette. I do think warm autumn fits my vibe just like that but I still like other palettes too and especially soft summer. 😄 I noticed that I can go for soft autumn make up sometimes and it will have kind of have the effect that I wanted to achieve with soft summer makeup previously, because I'm that warm. But I can't wear a lot of soft autumn colors in other instances, and not really any soft summer colors, maybe if I paired them in some way, I have yet to figure out. I think the colors will be received in relation to a person's coloration and that will create its own effects, which can sometimes look really nice too, even if not ideal for the complexion. While I do envy your palette, I understand wanting to go for brighter colors also. Mixing colors that go well with each other sounds like a great idea and neutrals can be a reliable staple. Maybe I'll find a combination like that too. 😀 even though it's much easier when you stay in the same general season, I think there is more to be discovered. 😊

      If you are a light summer, your sister from a different mister is light spring, thus your ability to get away with some warmth. It would be most important that your colors be light in value rather than warm/cool or deep/soft. It is similar if soft is your dominant. The sister palette is soft autumn. Again you can reach over and grab some warmth there as well. Most important for this palette is soft, muted blends of color rather than warm/cool or light/deep. If you end up cool or true summer than you are fully cool in undertone and should avoid warm and warm bias colors as they will cause your skin to sallow (get an unnatural yellowing effect).

    For eye color obssessed people: Do iris photography ;) I recently did and I could not recognize my eyes! It is like looking your iris at a microscope and you see colors and patterns that you can not with a naked eye! It is very interesting. For example I perceive my eyes as green-blue, but by other people they are perceived as blue. But on the photo i could see how much amber pigment they have, they look almost yellow! So the blue on the surface and the amber inside make the green. Anyway, this is a little bit out of topic. Regarding the color analysis and the eye color - I also thought green eyes-green clothes, BUT i didn't know about the complementary colors then ;)

    • @trishagoodwin4069
      @trishagoodwin4069 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I always thought my eyes were dark brown, as everyone always told me that. it wasn't until I went to art college and we had to do an exercise, that I found they were dark olive green, with brown/gold bits in them and an gold ring around the black pupil. We had to examine them under a big magnifying glass and then mix paint colours to match all the different colours we saw in our eyes. It was quite revealing to really look and record it all on paper. Now they have changed with age, the inner ring has gone completely, they are a lighter olive green with yellow and grey bits instead and a grey ring around the outside. I assume this means they have cooled down in colour too?!

Would love to hear if you agree or disagree with their methods/explanations (for example, someone commented here that there’s a color analyst who says looking at your natural hair color from when you were about 20.) • @tylernelson3722

      Totally. Other analysts talk about the role natural hair color plays and how you can think of skin, hair, and eyes as “points”. Eg if you have honey blonde vs ash blonde hair, you’d land in soft autumn instead of soft summer. 🤷🏽‍♀️ clarification on this would be so helpful!

      I have also been thinking about this lately! I saw some great colour combinations across palettes and thought they look so playful and fun! Combinations within palettes are harmonious and elegant, but I also feel that contrasting warm and cool, bright and soft is so intriguing! Maybe it can all work for you if the overall appearance and the colours closer to your face match your characteristics. And sometimes it's ok to not care and just have fun playing with colours if you feel good in them! 😊

    Can you be slightly soft and slightly deep? I know I lean cool with a some yellow overtone. I need slightly soft (some soft and cool summer colors work). I’m slightly deep (not a deep winter, but some colors work). My hair before gray was quite dark (maybe level 4/5) and my gray olive eyes (soft) are medium in depth. Silver jewelry works best (light gold works ok), and I actually think rose tone clashes with my yellow overtone.

    Reviewing my old photos I haven't seen in years helped me a lot to see that reach autumn colours always looked fantastic on me. I was bouncing bw autumn and winter, but some online apps showed I belong to summer. I can't say I am 100% sure I belong to autumn, but old pictures still help a lot, because it's like to see yourself from someone else's point of view. I am curious, do you ask your online clients to send their childhood or just older pictures of them? Does it matter in an online analysis, especially if a person naturally changes their colour throughout the years (I don't mean becoming grey)?
