For the many thousands of people asking how much this plane is, it was made by a man named Mac Hodges. Its not for sale and he goes around the country doing shows, so don't get your hopes up thinking you can buy one.
Negative, this one is not the Mac Hodges one. It's build by two belgians, my regretted friend Pieter and his cousin. After Pieter died in a ultralight crash in jan. 2008, the plane never flew again. It was donated to a museum for display.
That's quite an achievement! Looks so real, the only thing that gives it away is the sound. The work that's gone into building it must be staggering! Bet those guys breathe a sigh of relief every time they land it without damage!
Its not just about the flying aspect, a lot of RC models are built by the people who fly them. Its the satisfaction that airplane in the air you're flying you built yourself.
You know those guys had to be proud the first time she took off. A lot of hard work and money into that but I'm sure we'll worth it. Thanks for the video. Made me feel like a kid again
I believe their choice of prop has to do with the ideal RPM of the smaller scale engines, the very likely fixed pitch nature of the spinners, and the power to weight ratio of the plane. I imagine those props are fixed pitch, so the pilot would have to change throttle via RPM to alter the plane's trust. Having a heavier-than-necessary prop would increase the throttle lag and make the plane more difficult to fly. That, and the power to weight ratio might have been easier to manage with a 3 blade.
Some B-29s even had 3 blade props. Make one to specs? Then why not an exact duplicate engine, eliminate the radio control gear, etc. 2, 3 and 4 blade props for RC are for pilot-control preferences. What a totally stupid statement from someone obviously ignorant of the hobby.
Children can see the wonder in things that some other people can't. That's something I've tried not to lose as I've become older, and it's one of the reasons I've chosen a career in science. Without the childish sensations of curiosity and wonder, we wouldn't have things like aeroplanes; toy or otherwise.
Real sharp :-). Some of these models have a power to weight ratio that's ridiculous (far too much power). This one looks right. One little nitpick I'll have to look up. Weren't the belly turret guns on these more towards the center of the fuselage?
Hello Gasoline2009, probably from the sheer complexity of the plane, there are quite a lot of functions to this enormous "model", that could be potentially dangerous really quickly. I think they have split the tasks as pretty much on the flight deck of a real plane, between pilot and co-pilot. Maybe one controls the actual aerodynamics, whilst the other controls the engines and undercarriage? Nice fly by's tho'.
Only difference from Rc to big birds are the consequences of a mistake. You can come away unscathed from the former while the latter rarely turns out pleasant. So real pilots have a lot more procedural training to cover for. And almost all operational activities are designed with safety in mind.
I would like to know 2 things...how much does something like that cost? I know the small ones cost a fortune. the other thing is where does this guy store the plane? does it come apart or does he have a garage specifically for this
Are grass strips bad for RCs? In a small aircraft, a tail wheel in particular landing on a grass strip is much more pleasant and forgiving because it is not grabby like pavement. If you land a little bit crossed up your tires slide instead of just grabbing and sending you for a ground loop.
that would depend on what country you're from and where you live in that country. From the looks of it, this B29 exceeds the 249 pound limit for ultralights in the US, and probably exceeds the 55mph cruising speed.
I wonder how much a plane like this costs to build, whether it can be purchased or is it all custom and where do the engines come from. I think this is a very cool model. Keep in mind it is a model. If you want it to sound and fly like the real thing then you have to fly the real thing. That is why a video of you is not as big as you and doesn't sound like you.
woww cool i have an ac 130 with military camouflge its pretty impressive this new sport is more and more popular since in my country i was one of the first ones introducing it in 1992
The parts of the plane can fall off easily with that kind of shaking on ground,I've seen it before on takeoff, wings came off as soon as it started rolling
Generally, the bigger the model the more channels they have, for example 1 channel is up/down another channel is spin left/spin right, and so on, on jets you often need many channels for fuel mix, power, landing gear ect. while you can buy transmitters(controllers) that have 18 channels and more, its often cheaper to buy 2x transmitters with 8channels each, it jsut means 1 person controlles the direction, and 1 person controlls, lights, landing gear, fuel mix and other stuff
Many commercial airliners are pretty much equivalent to flying remotely. The pilot ad co-pilots are simply computer operators. The planes can take off ad land by themselves.
the rc models are definitely not built by the pilots. These are grown men who built these planes themselves. There are no branded giant 6 foot long rc planes. Building this requires a lot of time and being a pilot requires brains and a lot more time.
H.C "Kit" Carson was the actual Boeing test pilot for the B-29..and all Boeing Aircraft from the beginning of it's history and tested All Their Aircraft up to the 747..i got to shake his hand when "Kit " was 91 years old!
He has gloves on and those props are spinning at a relatively low RPM when they are started....He's probably been running that plan for a few years. If he screwed up at a high RPM they could easy.
this is the side of youtube I'm staying at, so much better to watch videos like these than hatred.

If it’s a one of a kind it is probably priceless. Imagine having a crash.
3:21 This is how i see the end of my life.

Great model Nice work. One correction, The B-29 had four blade props
Just put a horse saddle on the thing and climb on board... (or buy a cessna, cheaper and smaller!)
lol
That is so cool imagine how much it cost though
a lot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its not just about the flying aspect, a lot of RC models are built by the people who fly them. Its the satisfaction that airplane in the air you're flying you built yourself.
Dear Santa...
That looks like the ENOLA GAY plane.
That's cuz it is, except it's not the exact one just the same type of plane (the b-29)
dear santa....
You know those guys had to be proud the first time she took off. A lot of hard work and money into that but I'm sure we'll worth it. Thanks for the video. Made me feel like a kid again
The real B 29 had 4 blade props...........if they are going to make one to specs, then do it right. Others have on other models.
The model had 4 blades props for displaying. The 2 blades were for flying only.

Excellent job flying the Superfortress!!
Every single thing was just perfect! Love the video shots, sound, take off, fly, landing, place..!
That view from under the plane as it flys over the camera would make anyone think it's the real thing. Nice job.
Damnnn...!! It's a biggest plane that I ever seen. Great took off and perfect landing. Good job, guy. And keep it up!!
What a beautiful model!
Really really big and flown by skilled men.
Still amazes me when I watch this video. 😀 I've seen it 20 times probably and it never gets old.
Very impressive B-29. Enola Gay revisited from the Smithsonian. Great work. A joy to watch.
a mini Enola Gay? Where's the mini- toy "Tallboy" falling out of its little bomb bay doors? Haha awesome video folks ^^
that was impressive , this could no way be done by amateurs. Are any of your friends a former aviation pilot or mechanic ? Nice job fellas
your welcome! theres a hell of a lot more to flying model planes than people think there is :) well worth getting into tho, its a great hobby !
Nice flight! You know it's big when it takes two guys to control it lol! :)
Great plane ... well flown !
This is what I'm looking for my next video production.
♥like♥
Real sharp :-). Some of these models have a power to weight ratio that's ridiculous (far too much power). This one looks right. One little nitpick I'll have to look up. Weren't the belly turret guns on these more towards the center of the fuselage?
Perfectly level flying is the supreme challenge of the scale model pilot.
Nice job! I'd be scared of a flight failure with something this large.... it'd go through someone's roof!
Cool video and it doesn't look fake to me. You should put a go pro camera on it I bet the video would look really cool
Very interesting answer.I had no idea how much there is to the design and operation of these beauties.
Thats awesome, looks great and especially loved the landing.
Wow!!!
Even with real Turboprops!!!
Simply amazing!
I would like to see one of these done with the scaled down Radial engines they sell now. That would sound awesome !!!!
Outstanding Piloting guys... FANTASTIC
lolx...when zoom in it looks like a real plane...by the way love this video especially the landing ^^
Speaking as an A&P, this is AWESOME!
Farking cool..... Wats the rang on that before u lose signal? That has to be a rush, to watch it do a low flyby
That sure is a monster Very nice video well done
looks cool and pretty fast too. id like to see someone ride it
0:50 there is this typical desert thing, always passing by in the movies xD
That plane has a great sound. I like it!
wow! thats amazing ! how far/high can you fly with this theoretically?
Where do you store a plane like that? Better yet, how do you transport it? Do the wings come off and reassemble on site?
Great job , fantastic modeling
Why does it need two remotes? Does it have to do with the size, is it too big for 1 remote, or something else?
Friend:Hey I'm gonna go rc planing
Me: ok, I'll come too
Friend: just let me load up the trailer first
:O
that was a hhhhuuuuuuge rc plane looks like you built it too :D an impressive take off, flight and landing you should be proud :)
That plane looks so awesome!

THAT IS IMPRESSIVE! There are only 1 or 2 airworthy B-29's left in the world, I guess we'll have to add 1 to that list!
Wonder how long that took to make, looks amazing
How long did it take you guys to plan and construct that plane?
Only difference from Rc to big birds are the consequences of a mistake. You can come away unscathed from the former while the latter rarely turns out pleasant. So real pilots have a lot more procedural training to cover for. And almost all operational activities are designed with safety in mind.
"THIS IS AMAZING! LOOK AT IT FLY!"
"Pilot please identify yourself, you're flying over restricted military territory"
*BOOM*
"Aww, my plane..."
Man this is like flying a poney. Amazing model.
This is an incredible model. Why not use radials engines? Then it would sound as good as it looks.
I would like to know 2 things...how much does something like that cost? I know the small ones cost a fortune. the other thing is where does this guy store the plane? does it come apart or does he have a garage specifically for this
Like that sound!
Great Job!
what is the payload for that thing? What is the difference between an rc and a drone?
Are grass strips bad for RCs? In a small aircraft, a tail wheel in particular landing on a grass strip is much more pleasant and forgiving because it is not grabby like pavement. If you land a little bit crossed up your tires slide instead of just grabbing and sending you for a ground loop.
Does the TSA make you take off your shoes before you fly it?
I have one question... Where do you keep this plane when you're not using it?
Absolutely gorgeous airplane!
Wow did you see the wing lift when it speeded up -Nice fortress .
Great plane and great flying
Thats just over the limit, but soooo freaking AWESOME!!!!!!
Nice approach and touchdown
I'm pretty sure you could have bought a decent 152 for the money lol
Nice plane thou congrats

Nice, you should share that on our website if you get a chance!
They wish they had anything this good.
NAILED the landing!
woww cool i have an ac 130 with military camouflge its pretty impressive this new sport is more and more popular since in my country i was one of the first ones introducing it in 1992
This is what I'm talking about! More planes please...
Absolutely beautiful model....!!!
The parts of the plane can fall off easily with that kind of shaking on ground,I've seen it before on takeoff, wings came off as soon as it started rolling
I think i gave u 100 likes :) awsome plane man
Beautiful and majestic.
Holy huge. Liked and subscribed.
Wow, from a distance it really looks real.
Big. large & beatiful. I like the B-29.

can i strap myself to it while you do loops and flips???
Incrivel. O som gerado pelos motores lembra o som daqueles videos da segunda guerra em que os B-29 eram mostrados!
Estão de parabéns!
This will teach my neighbors from letting their cat shit on my backyard.
That thing is HUGE! I would ride it. LOL.
Is this in the untied states and that was awesome

Guess it would require 2 PILOTS! Awesome
Impressive aircraft and flying...
ok ya i was stuck trying to figure out if it was a B-29 or B-52, thanks for clearing it up for me
good job nice landing wow :)
awesome landing!!!!!amazing.
