Badminton - How to hit a Backhand X-Drop

  • This is the second overhead backhand shot in my library. It is geared for right HANDER’S as the backhand x-drop for a right hander creates a counter spin on the shuttle. The stroke is exactly the same for a left hander but the shot for a left hander does not create the same flight dynamics since the shuttle always spins clock-wise. For a left hander, the same flight dynamics can be achieved by hitting a forehand cross drop. This shot is easier to hit than a backhand straight drop due to the counter spin control achieved through the slice action.

This is excellent again. Would you make contact with shuttle at highest point possible or wait for it drop lower before hitting as you might for say backhand lob or smash, because I imagine if you let it drop then it might become more of a sliced drive VS a sliced drop.

Coach, can you show us HOW and WHEN we should move hand grip from end of the racket or front (near cone or on the cone)? Also, newer racket now has additional thumb support in it.. so I want to know when we use this feature. Thx in advance.
