I always play doubles and rarely use cross-court net shot due to the lack of confidence to play this kind of shot. After watching this tutorial video, I will practice and try it one day! Thanks for the great video.
Killing feature that you've chosen T-shirts and background wall without lettering for mirrored videos of right-handed technique demonstration. I love your attention to details and how you're constantly raising the quality of your content, guys! 🔥
Great video!! I am one of those who always try to play a "tight" cross-court net shot. Now I understand why my success rate is low--goes to the net or out.
Great video:) I saw a lot of people using cross court nets during training but every time I did it went too high so I got net killed so the tips were very good.
your tutorials are too good, too precise and the same time so easy to understand. and it's very effective also. thank you very much for providing this for free.
dont know how long youve been doing this but at 8:00 in the top left having the drill listed out is a massive nice thing, really appreciate it being there. don't know if its been there before but its actually real good to see helps visualise what to do better! :)
This shot is soooooo helpful to use again people who have great power Cause they keep just moving a bit and hitting power shots So this helps a lot Thank You
Yeay, can't wait for the dive...as a single player i really need tutorial from this channel. This channel really makes me understand the technique and make me easier to understand
Thanks for this video. Been waiting for this cross court tutorial. Wonderful teaching. I watched it multiple times. Been wanting to get good at this. Thanks.
I usually made some successful forehand cross court net in the games, but very rarely made it successful using back hand cross court net shot. Thanks for the information that the key is to change the grip from backhand to bevel grip. Interesting, but changing grip is definitely challenging 😅. Great video as always 👍 👏 ❤❤
all good points, especially the mechanical explanation of forehand-pronation and backhand-supination combined with drawing in the elbow and not moving the wrist. a couple things i would add are 1) this shot works best from deep, early extension, and 2) in advanced doubles play, there is almost no place for this shot except when taken at or above the tape. in singles you must be positioned to reply to a shot to any corner, but in doubles the net player is guarding the net and all but the most perfect x-net shot should be killed as it crosses the tape
Hi Jenny & Greg, I'm soooooo glad that you made this video about net play. Very useful for me. I am going to show it to our local player group definitely. I wish you make a video on when to play a net shot, when not to play, and also how far it should reach to the other side beyond the net. The reason why I said this is if you make the video then I could show it to some of my local community players who try to play a net shot so tight to the net that they always end up making a mistake. I've tried convincing them to hit up to at least close to the service line so that they don't end up making a mistake but I failed miserably. I will definitely try out this technique that you've shown in this video....eagerly waiting for your video...
very helpfull greg and jenny ...i had recently plsyed this shot tomorrow from backhand when my opponent gives me a drop ...nd really i loved it ...nd my opponent was amazed how does he do that😂😂.......
Finally!!! I have waited for this cross-court net shot for so long~~~ The last few tutorials missing according to your video "60 shots you need to know".
Great video. Great breakdown. I've been doing these cross-court shots from teaching myself. But now I know how to do them right. Might take some time to correct my technique. Thanks for another great lesson.
Hi. You are my favorite channel for improving my game. Your little jokes in between (like swimming wear for diving tutorial) are so 'dad joke' but since you dont do them often - they work...sort of. I know you do videos on improving your badminton game - I dont know if you do any about the rules of badminton. But I have a pet peeve. The community I play in - every DAY there is someone or the other(1 person in particular tho) who does a 'catch and fling' i.e. carry. A drop shot on the net, he comes running in from the back court, slides his racket under the shuttle(catch, first stroke) and then flings it upwards(2nd stroke). Since I couldnt find any specific videos showing this movement is illegal, he continues to do so and the rest because they have never bothered to understand the rules - permit this action. Could you please make a video showing people doing the following illegal strokes : 1. Carry (catch and fling) 2. Service where racket head is below waist but NOT pointing downwards(as stated in WBF rules). 3. Trying to do a spin serve and hitting the feathers resulting in a wobbly serve. Thanks a million.
Great video, thank you! For some reason, I thought that with late cross court net shot, you need to turn the racket with your fingers at the end. Is this a mistaken opinion?
We have a 1st badminton open here in Cordova, Cebu I hope you can sponsor us with badminton net stand, we badly needed it for this up coming September 24 - 25, 2022. Thank you will reply. I hope to see more videos from your channel 😉
thanks for the tricks... i learned to play early cross court shot some how but the other variations are also cool to implement. thanks for considering and replying my comment... kudos✌
Thank you as always for the wonderful and detailed tutorial! Question: If my opponent plays this shot how do I defend against it at the very last moment?
You’re very welcome, glad you enjoyed it! If you can read it and take it reasonably early you can play a straight net shot in response, if you are late the best option is probably to lift it with good height and accuracy
@@BadmintonInsight Thank you so very much for this! I have lost many…many points in a cross net shot. 😅 I am very glad to receive an advice directly from you guys as this question was burning a hole in my head!😇
Really great video as always Greg & Jenny! Unrelated to this, but have either of you ever dealt with wrist issues or tennis elbow as a result of playing badminton? Currently going through this and it's severely limiting how much I can play. Thanks! :D
It depends on quite a few factors. A lot of them are racket, string and shuttle related. Are you a beginner/intermediate/advanced player? Assuming intermediate if you're playing with plastics then you need to bring the string tension right down (20-22lbs) and use a string with a bit of flex. Same with the racket a headheavy stiff racket adds a lot of strain to the shoulder/elbow. Perhaps look at (Yonex) Arcsaber series or equivalent with other brands. A lot of my elbow issues were resolved after I read Paul Stewarts articles. I changed my Voltric (head heavy stiff) to Duora (medium flex even balance). Helped massively. Hope that helps.
Hi Badminton Insight I would really like it if you post more follow along routines for core and shoulder. I reallly loved the one video that greg posted with the christmas tree
Hi im Monsak from Malaysia👋 is been a great tutorial video all the time tq. I got question ,today in my play my opponent are very strong they like to play in long rally and they are very good at denfense ,how am i going to play this type of games and to win it?
Can you do a video on tai forehand and backhand push towards back and how to tackle them. I seriously can't hit wh en the shot goes from my backhand side towards net ➡️deep forehand side
Love the video! Well explained. Keep it up guys. I have been watching all the videos you've been posting. I just have a random question with regards to injury or incident during games. Is there a specific time to follow when injury occurs as per BWF Rules? like for example muscle cramps or sprain in between rallies. TIA!
On the contrary, for me, backhand cross-court net shot is way easier. I could almost always hit the shuttle in such a way that it brushes the net and lands in the opponent's court tumbling, difficult to return. My forhand cross-court net shot, however, is Meh to say the least :p. I will implement your suggested practice routine to improve it. Cheers!
Hi! i want you guys talk about how to deal with opponent who play with mind games. There is this one player in my group that i rarely beat because he play with yelling and intimidating. I think this topic is never discussed before thank you
Corss court net shots hasnt been quite a weak point when i play at the front of the court. If we being more specific, it would be the forehand. Although i seem to be able to play it cross court if on serve to the forehand side. Anyways thanks for some tips
Please make video of deceptive shorts. I saw the video but there were only 2 or 3 deceptive shorts. Please make the video. There are other badminton channels too but they are good as yours . Please make the video , I want to learn from my youtube coaches.
Another really cool and informative video!! Backhand: I discovered today that I'm not far off, including the grip switch from backhand to bevel 🙂 However, forehand is a different matter and my control / consistency is poor - something for me to work on (amongst lots of other things too 😅)
Can do a video on how to counter tight net shot for front and cross this video just shows the normal net shot. Usually my opponent give a really tight net shot near the net after service for doubles game. Usually Lee Chong Wei used them very well.
