Very rare that I comment on videos but just had to say that yours are really at a different level of quality to other online badminton lessons I've seen. You have an exceptionally clear and helpful way of breaking down each component. Thanks so much for these lesson and looking forward to many more!
Just brilliant - the single best breakdown of the different footwork variations (and when/why to use each) that I've seen. Anyone who wants to play singles should start with this. A couple of requests for future videos: how you would teach aiming overheads and also how to cope with deception (particularly off the return of the low serve).
That is so awesome as you can see in a systematic way all variations at once. The video is so good. Thanks! I wonder if something similar exists for doubles footwork ? It looks to me like doubles have some specific standardized footwork in some areas. For example there is specific footwork for backcourt player to quickly move from angle to angle, or just small specific jumps when moving from position to position.
very good overview! but please show some scenes also in slow-motion, so we can see how you move your feets. especially the cross-over movements are hard to get. Thank you for your videos, which explain the complex movements in badminton very well.
Great video, but what about running steps and when you hit the shuttle in the backcourt without a jump, practically standing and sometimes with body rotation?
Thanks ! This is very helpful. They don't teach us this in my club... I was wondering if the footwork is different in doubles since there are 2 players on the court ? Thanks
2012alex2311 the footwork is same for all events. But the angles of movement would be different and there will be variations of the footwork depending on the situation. If you know these basics then different kinds of movement could be employed meaning you may need to twist and turn where you’ll have to be creative. But one can only do so many movements with two feet!
Please note that the footwork video is only a brief overview. I will be making separate videos for each corner including their variations.
