    This explains a lot. I lived near the sea, and never washed my curly hair in tap water. Sea, just made it look great! Never had split ends back than, even people keep saying that sea salt is bad for hair. When I moved and started to wash my hair with tap water, I started to have split ends.

    I've been a hairdresser for 40 years. Chlorine can NOT be washed out of the hair with regular shampoo or plain water. Malibu and Matrix makes a shampoo that removes the chlorine and I highly recommend it to all swimmers.
    Split ends always happen due to environment and can only be eliminated by cutting them off.
    A healthy diet gives you good hair but will not stop you from getting split ends. Oils and other hair products are a temporary fix but will not mend split ends. The split will continue up the hair shaft....so a good trim of at least a half inch every 6 to 8 weeks should keep your hair in top shape.
    Use ponytail bands WITHOUT the metal as this damages the hair shaft as well.

    Jojoba oil is a very close match to sebum. It also penetrates into the hair. even better than coconut or olive oils.

    I can’t tell you how beneficial the shower 🚿 filters are for your entire health . After I got mine I stopped getting cystic acne completely ! If you think about it the chlorine heated in the shower turns your bathroom into a toxic bromide / halide gas chamber ! This exposure every day was a huge contributor to my overall toxic burden and bc I have so many compromised detox pathways due to my gene mutations ( MTHFR, CBS , COMPT , DAO for example ) the chlorine removed from my daily showers helped me on so many levels . It was a dramatic and quick to see results . And I thought it was dairy that was solely causing my symptoms !

    Advice about Chlorine in pools; wet your hair first and then put on a low-cost conditioner before entering the water. Then your hair will absorb less of the chlorinated water. Of course, rinse afterwards and use conditioner, perhaps a better brand.

      Biotin works great for me. I've also heard pregnancy vitamins (w biotin) can make your hair grow like a weed.
      Get a satin pillowcase to reduce frizz.
      Avoid heat styling as much as possible. Otherwise, invest in a good heat protection spray.
      Once a week, I soak my hair overnight in a DIY oil mask. Then in the morning, I do a thorough shampoo & deep condition.
      For my oil mask, I combine any oils that i have on hand: coconut, argon, avocado, jamaican black castor oil, etc. You can get the two of the easiest to use oils at trader joes: argan oil is $6 and I think coconut oil is also $6.

      Romae Daley, we have hard water too, and had issues with my hair drying. I switched to a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that contains glycerin. I also add a few drops of glycerin to my damp hair before styling. I stopped using hair styling products that contain alcohol or salts. It has made so much of a difference, but mostly adding the glycerin helped.

    I stopped shampooing too about five years ago. I use diluted apple cider vinegar and conditioner to clean my hair. Eat high protien high fat next to no carbs. I have really healthy hair no split ends easy to brush I actually don't need to brush with a brush my fingers work. I do swim and swimming doesn't effect my hair much because the vinegar seals the ends.

    I had a big problem with porous split ends a few years ago. Hairdresser after a regular haircut recommended every time after washing hair, apply to the ends of the wet hair some oil to prevent split ends.
    I use argan oil with silicone. It works perfectly. I have healthy hair now. I don't have to cut my hair for a long time.
    But I need to be sure that I apply this oil only to the ends of the hair.
    And, of course, need to make up for the lack of minerals in the body, as Dr. Berg said.

    One additional thing,
    I remember seeing those television commercials about the hot oil treatments,
    And if I remember that correctly you would soak a few of these plastic tubes in a container of hot water for a while and after the oil inside was warmed up then the person would apply that oil to their hair;
    I never had the need to use that stuff;
    So I don’t know what else is involved or if that stuff was beneficial or not??;
    My personal feelings is that proper diet , exercise,
    And let’s not forget about some really good sleeping habits all play major roles in the health and vitality of a person’s hair???;
    I’ve typically noticed that a person who is in good health also has healthy hair too ;
    So good health to everyone 👍

Nothing show up in their test due to my carbin filter. I than have them test my next door neighbor's water, which they don't have any filter system in their house and their water showed chemicals in it.

So bad that i'm not IF/OMAD today and I've just blended a lime, spinach, savoy cabbage, celery and tomato with a shake of turmeric and black pepper. Every hotel has a gym. And room service. Yes it’s expansive but just in 2017 I lost over 50k in lost time from work plus medical costs and I was in pain ALL the time ......And I was miserable all the time. Keto is the way to go !

    Wow! Great info. I never knew split ends has a medical name! I'm anemic and I dont use heat often, maybe 30-45 days out of 365 days and if I FORGET to take my iron and don't eat any kind of leafy green(kale collard chard mustard turnip) my hair will split and shed!!!! I'm older NOW so I must work diligently to keep my hair and length!!!

    🙄 You can't prevent "split ends" with diet. While diet can affect hair health, split ends are caused by brushing and heat styling. Get your ends trimmed regularly and you'll be fine.

    Fyi, none of this will work if you don't take care of your hair as well. If you have long hair make sure its in a plait 99% of the time, especially when sleeping. That's where most of the damage is created.

    My question is how do I prevent a handful of my hair from coming off. I sometimes run my hand through my hair or shampoo/condition during shower and my hair came out like it was pulled off. Im not going bald, I'm a woman in my mid forties. I dont want lose too much hair.
