Bmw 116i F20 N13 - How to fix the distinctive engine noise on cold start

- Usually, during a cold start there is a distinctive noise at the engine bay of BMW 116i. This noise is normally produced by the vibration of a joint at the wastegate. In this video I am presenting a method to reduce that noise.

I used the same part for my BMW 114i and it worked perfect. I also replaced my intercooler for the VALEO 818263, also a nice replacement part.
Have you used the 06J145220A oder which "same" part ? Thanks in advance :)

@@Outpost1977 Thank you, in the Video it was mentioned that the VAG Clip it to big to fit underneath the turbo heat shield, is it actually not the case?
@@Sanreath No really not. My garage did the installation. It's a great fix. No noise anymore. Also the intercooler works fine. No need for the more expensive Wagner.

Can never understand why people need music which is distracting and annoying when trying to watch educational type videos.
Did this and actually yeah, the vw turbo clip is too big and trying to fit it I lost it in the engine. Now the rattle continues and know there's a clip somewhere inside the engine bay haha
Same… This happened to me because I didn’t removed the heath shield. I have bought a 22mm socket to remove the lambda sensor and I will have a second round next week 😂

Excellent! Any suggestion to fix the Shield vibration sound? My shield vibrates at low RPM and the bolts are not loose.

Did you resolve it I have same issue it makes an annoying noise I can see it vibrate
@@anthonycampbell9807 The shield vibration is largely due to engine vibration. My engine mount condition still reasonably good so I didn't change that. Instead, I started using Liquimoly ceretec additive and fuel injection cleaner. The engine became smoother and quieter and operated with less vibration .. so that kind of help. Hope it helps.
What is the oil consumption of your bmw?
I top mine up every 2 weeks or so

@@joshjustin4145 i was about to buy the same BMW but i changed my mind. On the website I’ve read they “drink” a lot of so one time per 2 weeks I think it’s good result

Do you need to unscruw the bolt before you can set the clip ?
You don't need to unscrew something from the wastegate. Only the screws from the cover in order to gain access.

No, the engine used in the BMW F20 N13 model is not made by the PSA Group. The N13 engine is a BMW-designed and manufactured engine.
