Now that looks like a blast. Really nice non- dramatic ridge soaring. You make it look so easy. Like you can just put it anywhere. Land with near 0 ground speed. On the beach or on top. So smooth. Well done. Thanks.

Hi Charles, the pilot in the video is our local legend JB, who has nearly 50 years of hang gliding experience! I keep practicing to be as smooth as him! Where do you fly?
Nice flying! What was the wind velocity? You seem to get airborne so effortlessly. I live very close to the beach and want to do exactly this when my glider arrives.
The wind was between 11-13 knots if I remember correctly. JB’s the pilot. He has flown for over 40 years, and so his technique is refined to say the least. I love watching him fly - every time I rewatch this video, I learn something new
@@poklet Hi Tushar, l bought a new hang glider about 4 years back, its a Spirit 160 from Ace aviation, made in India! Unfortunately cannot fly on the beaches here, too many restrictions from the authorities. I took the glider out to the beach only once just to assemble the glider but the police stopped me. So my glider is still sitting around and my dream of flying is still a dream.
It’s both. Floaters like this one give you a lot of control and stability. They also fly relatively slowly, and have a lower stall speed. That helps a lot when you’re close to terrain. I’ve flown my intermediate glider at this beach, and it wasn’t as much fun as when I fly my floater here. It zipped around too fast and I had to be careful not to slow down too much and risk a stall so close to the ground. Finally this video is a demonstration of JB’s skills that have taken over 45 years to finesse. He loves flying at the beach, so he has perfected the art. I hope I can fly as smooth as him some day!

UU. ¡Espero volar contigo algún día! I highly recommend you to find a teacher instead of making your own glider. Hang Gliding schools have gliders you can fly. It's a dangerous sport. Glider designs have evolved over the past decades and are very safe now. There are many little design elements that help with stability, and help recover from stalls. However, if you build your own without first learning to fly one, it'll be doubly dangerous for you because you'll probably not know about all the little safety features. If it's the cost, you can buy a second hand glider. So please find a school. I know there are some pilots in Brazil. And some in Guatamala. Or even in USA. I hope to fly with you some day!

Thanks for the video link, very interesting to know a bit more about it! I am just brave enough to step in an airplane, lol, I love the thought of being a bird, only hearing the wind and seeing the earth beneath, unfortunally I am not brave enough, going up a ladder past the 4th steps makes my knees go shakey, lol. Enjoy many more safe flights, I enjoy watching your videos.
Gliders can last decades! Yesterday I flew with an 80’s french 190 Tecma that an instructor friend bought for teaching at dunes and short scooter tows. It lands so easy you barely have to flare. It has 5 battens but 4 can remain in pockets when you fold it, so setup is 3min. The previous owner used this glider to fly TANDENS (!!!) until mid 2000s and after to teach as well. That’s how sweet it lands, a 190sqm wing that can fly tandem lol! With the scooter tow it went up so easy and not much power needed. And yes, it looks a bit worn but can still fly off a mountain!

how cool is this, i always imagined you had to drop off a cliff from a mountain to get airborne
If the wind is strong enough, sand dunes provide more than enough lift to stay up.
And yes it’s the coolest thing in the world!
Nah all you need is psilocybin.
Ocean looks scary!
What is a Falcon doing in Oz? Hasn't been shot down by the Moyes Boys yet? Jokes aside I have one too - since 1998.
JB has a preference for quick turning gliders. He has however moved on from this Falcon to a Black & White Airborne F2. So still not a Moyes boy :)
