In one of the factory videos explaining the Soldier'08 vs the older model 1961 along Soldier, they said they added the serrations to the tip of the knife as that was the section of blade most sharpened by the soldiers. They would prepare their food in their army aluminium or stainless bowls using only the knife and the belly to tip of the blade would go blunt first. Adding serrations meant that only the tips of the serrations came into contact with their food bowls and the serrated curve stayed sharper for longer.

I have never used the screwdriver on the can opener as a Philips. I'm not sure I've ever heard that idea before. I'll have to give it a shot.
I can see that the Climber is much better for outdoors, where you're less likely to need a screwdriver in general. And there are times even just in my own yard that a small saw blade would come in handy.

I've seen it mentioned in dozens of SAK reviews, and have done it myself too very successfully, on PH2 and PH1 screws. It is a small flathead but works in those 2 sizes Phillips screws, not as good as a dedicated PH driver or bit, but probably better than those overpriced soft Leatherman half bits.

No, the wire stripper is used without a blade. You bend the wire >90⁰ around the opening and tear off the wire sheath.

That could be tricky? But I guess you could. Using the blade only works on a 3 layer SAK max anyway, no chance on the Swisschamp as the opener and blade are miles away. But in fairness I think Victorinox just call that tool a wire bender, not a wire stripper.

Have you had a look at the compact. It’s a two layer 91mm with the same combo tool as the bantam a large blade and the scissors.

Interesant. Nie geweet jy kan draad so strip nie. Ek hou van hulle maar hulle maak net te stadig oop vir my.
