    Would you advise to always play the melody note as the top note when playing? Both when playing instrumentals and playing with a singer/choir? Thank you for taking the time to share your gift with us!

    • @SkilledMusician
      @SkilledMusician  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If I'm playing with singers then I try to find a counter melody to play, as not to clash with the singer. If I'm playing without singers, then I try to play the melody. Hope this helps!

    • @shaquillecarter5791
      @shaquillecarter5791 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think I catch your drift! That would be pretty cool to see a video with your take on how to play with singers/choirs. I don't think I've ever seen a channel go over that before. Thanks for answering my question! You da best!

    • @SkilledMusician

    • @MsJoyce31202
      @MsJoyce31202 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well as a musician who also sings I do melody because I am trying to learn how to sing it too. When going over a new song (on video) I will play what I hear on the next go round and drop to a lower key if needed. I'm pretty much playing chords and can't rely on base because I hear melodies. I don't always hear base except on certain songs. When it comes to accompanying someone on the spot, I rather not do that unless I've clearly heard their key they're singing in.

    I’ve been revisiting your older videos. I have question.....is there a way to move inner voices on minor chords?

    • @SkilledMusician
      @SkilledMusician  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Josh! Good to hear from you! It's been a little while. You can definitely move inner voices on Minor chords. Let's say you have a C-minor chord. C-G in the left-hand and C-Eb-G in the right hand. You could play F-Ab then G with your left-hand while keeping C on the bottom. And in your right hand B-D then C, while you keep the other notes. Truthfully, any move you can do over major chords, is for the most part, applicable to minor chords. Hope this helps and good to hear from you!

    • @joshhampton7628
      @joshhampton7628 6 ปีที่แล้ว
