Hi, really lear a lot from your video, one question on the night vision, if I got a full set of the night vision system, do I need to buy any additional item to activate it? or I can just install and code it to enable? Many thanks.
This was amazing to see how you connected up all the modules, and the CIC running on the bench, I never seen BMW video's that are this showing how things are actually working, you're a great help for my retrofits and modifications on my BMW, keep up the videos!

@@MOvidiu I do work on bmw’s as well, just never done night vision retrofit, since there is trick with emulator and camera should vin match with module.

What’s the pinout on the newer version of the camera? I believe it’s a 4 pin + shielding on the night vision module ^^
Thanks you for your indepth knowledge on this BMW Night Vision system. I get "night vision Malfunction" randomly on my 2008 E61 BMW 535xi touring. NV Works sometime, then I will get the malfunction message. How to diagnose?
Gow to diagnose ?! Using diagnostic equipment, tools, and your brain! If something is missing from this equation, no panic! You'll need to find someone who knows to do this type of work and go to him, at least for the diag part !

Salut. Am un e92 și ma tentează ideea de a face retrofit la night vision. Am făcut deja retrofit la nbt Evo. Cei de la custom retrofit zic ca nu ar fi posibil night vision retrofit în E90 din cauza ca ar lipsi ceva mesaje pe CAN. Totuși eu cred ca ar trebui sa meargă pentru ca toată seria E folosește cam aceleași module. Tu ce părere ai? Mersi.
Salut, interesant proiect si buna intrebarea , CANul e acelasi dar e vorba de ce se comunica pe acel CAN,de montat il puteai monta sigur dar doar cu navigatia originala si folosind NIVI 1 de pe e60 e65 si e70. Acum cu NBT va trebui sa incerci , cred ca poti monta si nivi 2 dar cred ca ai nevoie de un activator standalone, cei de la Custom aveau unu dar era foarte scump.
Hello, what "CIC" would you recommend in 2021? For a hobbist not a buissness level. Have the need to rewrite firmware/software to the car modules.
I just rebuilding a 🔥burned down🔥 E60 from weir harness on up. Not worth it, but I need something, antisocial to do. It's at "the red car lift of death please". Some stuff works most things don't. 😂OBD2 said that I just need a new gas cap and better fuel ⛽ quality🤣.
PS spent about $600 on that death trap not about to shellout much more than a 1000 on this project that could spontaneously combust 🙄😒 again. Have some experience with microcontrollers, command line network equipment, publishing applets, and VCDS with unlicensed cables, databases.

@@MOvidiuWas just asking about methods of altering the configuration on the canbus without getting into overpriced business level equipment.
Products designed for business owners, mechanics intimidated by coding, configuring microcontrollers - or just don't care to do so manually. Currently the E60 that I've worked on appears to be asking for an operating system. Have injected voltage to operate the individual circuits, but the controllers just display "the car lift of death" nothing crazy on the ISPA OBD2. Only that environmental checks have not been completed. Don't know if it is true or not but I did hear that car manufacturers don't publish some of their protocols as to sell products like "VCDS, Autel Maxisys, launch x431...". So a cable, with a protocols, executables, and a user interface costs random number from like $20 to $7000 or more for farming equipment and industrial trucks... Personally not the type to "pay to play" with my own stuff - especially if I have time to kill behind a keyboard.
My car (e60 535d) have night vision from factory, but it show only full black screen, i think is because my lens if all destroyed from stones. coud be that? Lens is not cracked but is almost fully white because of the stones.

Hello M.Ovidiu :) important question for my case: if i buy an 2nd hand bmw module for E63/E64, and i buy an new Night vision camera (my car never get a nightvision but it will be an retrofit) this 2nd hand bmw module will work ? or the vin it store of the old car will stay or and the serial number or dont know what of the night vision camera of the old car ? Thank you for the video and the information, i'm trying to do an night vision retrofit on an E60. i made the mistake of buying the camera separately from the module, and now I have found a matched set form the same car, waiting for it to ship,... my question is, would a "BMW CIC Retrofit Emulator" do the same job as the activator? if not, then where can i get an activator from (website or link?). thank you for your time.
Thank you! Great summary of what I have been reading on forums for 3 years piece by piece. Question about lens (Germanium if I'm not mistaken?) - they are located under the bumper in e60 and of course is just showing black screen after all this years. Is there a way how to change it or polish?

hello! yes can be mounted but is expensive need an extra can module to work in an f series and other modification ! but the main thing that this is not worth it is because the f nivi can't do full screen!

Is it technically possible to add a filter between the night vision control module and the night vision camera, so u can use a camera from 1 car and the module from another? I understand that its very complicated, but is it possible? (of course you'll have to use the cis activator)

Yes you can do this retrofit on e60 non facelift, but you will have to change the CCC unit if the car is older than 2006

Salut , nu poti pune nimic pe lentila deoare-ce nu va mai vedea nimic camera nivi , incearca sa conduci mai prudent si sa pastrezi distanta fata ce cel din fata si nu se va mai sabla lentila /bara /farurile...

Cam așa se vede. Nu prea o folosesc , mi se pare oricum o chestie pe care o folosești o dată sau de două ori, doar că nu mă simt eu bine ca ceva să nu funcționeze cum trebuie la mașină.

Salut Ovidiu. Ma numesc Silviu si locuesc in Germania. Am o problema cu sistemul Night Vision! Apas butonul si nimic… in ISTA o pot activa, se vede bine! Tot in ISTA am controlat si butonul si e in regula. Nu stiu ce sa-i fac! Poti sa ma ajuti?! Merci anticipat.

@@MOvidiu salut Ovidiu. Merci mult pentru raspuns. Problema e ca la toti la care am fost mă trimit la BMW! BMW cere 206€ pe ora de manopera! Astia aici in Germania nu se pricep! Nu da nici un cod de eroare! Pana acum doua luni a mers perfect! Acum nu se mai activeaza! Nu stiu ce sa-i fac!

Salut , daca ai lentila sparta si camera e buna poti inlocui doar lentila , poti lua una de la alta camera ( spre exemplu una descompletata ) sau faci o lentila noua pe comanda , daca camera e afectata atunci ai nevoie de de un set complet pereche si activator, sau daca stai pe bani comanzi camera noua! :)
Why didn't you just program the modules to the car? If you bought a new module or camera wouldn't you just program them after installation??? Doesn't make sense?

@@MOvidiu Yes, I did. So if my camera on my Bmw was damaged then replacing it would have to be done in pairs with the module and then you would have to use the device to fool the computer into thinking it has the same device that got damaged in the first place. Wouldn't they program the new camera to the main module... I've done programing in the past when replacing devices that needed to be matched to the system...
and then the factory would have to build you a new camera with your specific vin programed into the new part... Doesn't make sense...
@@commonsense6838I don't think you understood. if you buy the new camera it will come with FSC code for your VIN nr and you will be able to code it. IF you buy a second-hand camera you will not be able to code ever !!!

yes you can , but will need a special activator to send the ignition on signal and to set-up the image contrast...

Only the wiring on the bumper, the one in the car is part of the car wiring and does not come separately, for F series , you have to recover it from a donor car
