I absolutely hate when I lose a flathead under the floorboards/seat like you did. you know what’s worse than that? having a crab fall underneath you just have to pray you don’t get pinched 😂
He does not want to get spooled. But also grabbing the spool is a very effective method of “drag” meaning you can keep your drag loose and use your hand to control the runs.

hey luke! i was just looking at your retrievals for the soft vibes (the one that you said you dont know how to retrieve). these lures are dynamite in deep water, you lower them to the bottom and then lift them up and down like a jig, and for shallower water, just do a slow lift, then a pause, then repeat. try to slow it down a bit too! awesome video again mate!
Graet video mate also im pretty sure that fish that you called a snapper was a bream and the big one that busted off could of been anything but is great to see you enjoying yourself keep it up
Hey man , good to see you catching them good in this video 😅 just one small tip, don't worry about your drag so much while your on with a fish and don't grab your spool while on with a fish , you easily break of like that. Love the videos and keep em coming ❤
Yooo, no way, are you in Bowen? We’re here at the minute… we’re stuck at the queens beach caravan park, our Nissan is stuck at proserpine… the transmission had to be replaced at cairns and now it’s done the flywheel… I’ve been fishing the don river for the last few days and hard too, 4 hours each day and caught absolutely nothing 😭😭 Only had 5 flatty strikes…
@@lukefalzon everything really ~ Makeral, flathead whiting rays jacks Barra crabs nanny’s and plenty of crayfish and trout not too far from the town, you name it you can catch it pretty much
What a great video Luke, hope u r doing well can’t wait for the next one. When u lost that big fish, I reckon it was a shark, threadfin salmon or a jewfish. But you’ll never know. Have a good one mate.
i would say be a little more patient with the lure fishing on the sand flats. the flattys and whiting are always there and waiting to strike just let the lure hit the bottom and sit for 10 seconds before giving it a jig and moving it again.. and if that was a jewy at the end you need some stronger leader, 15 pound aint gunna cut it most of the time id go 30 pound minimum with a decent bait and hook.. unless you let that drag run loose and have a decent size reel but id say it was probably a chopper or another monster bream! good session but you cant go wrong where you are at the moment for good fishing that's for sure!

You're a good fisherman, bro. You've got the patience for it, probably just need to try out more baits and practice how to work them. Guarantee it'll be non stop action after that. Loved the video, stay safe bro
Try to not tighten your drag right up and grab the spool. The drag is there to work with the action of your rod to absorb headshakes and put less stress on your terminals. As soon as you stop that spool it puts so much pressure on everything which means pulled hooks and bust off's. I hate seeing you lose fish 😢
