In this video we are doing something different! Exploring both fresh and brackish waters for Australia most iconic or famous fish! The Barramundi. However it is not so easy as just fishing... Where these fish live is also habitat to saltwater crocodiles, river dwelling bull sharks and deadly snakes! Watch this video till the end for the full Australian fishing experience.
Fishing lures and more from cavyfishing.com/
Fishing reels used Daiwa Revelry and Daiwa Saltiga. A long with Daiwa Saltiga braided line and fluorocarbon leader.

Keep up the great content Cavy I’ve been watching for years my boy yeew
Cheers dude! Why’s there a 💰 sign on this comment?
Oh what thanks dude! Much appreciated, didn’t even know you could do such a thing 😮❤
@@CavyFishinghe payed you pounds tho not dollars he probably from United kingdom
What drone do you use?
Remember to sharpen up your hooks if you’re having problems, hooking fish
hey cavy personally i love these type of videos and think you should definitely continue these as its a good break from all the GT and psycho island fishing and there super chill and feel a little more personal which as a viewer i think is great! also love your video titled "I Drove 2000 Miles to Fishing Paradise" as its similar, driving and showing spots and exploring! tight lines cavy! would also love to see more creek and estuary fishing!!!!
That's the plan bro! Will try mix up content a lot this year! Cheers dude 👍🏾
I enjoyed every minute of this video.
super chill with all those salties lying in wait?
GREAT TV ! Sliding down rocks with crocodiles in the area Fighting Fish. ❤
Wow .... Insane.... Bulls ... Bronze .... Zambizi .....Nutz
The other day I hooked up to a massive tire. After an hour of a drag pulling, rod bending battle I finally got it to shore, and right as I reached for the net it broke my rod, reel, and popped my line. Then I slipped and fell in the river. A cop came and gave me a $100 ticket for swimming in front of a NO SWIMMING sign.
That’s unlucky on a whole other level 😮😂
@@CavyFishingbig massive oof, I’d rage quit for sure
we have speckled trout and redfish in the states. I personally use way less drag for top water so the fish can run with the lure vs the excitement of trying to set the hook. Its increased hook up 10 fold. Allows for the nerves to be delayed as the fish takes the lure 😅😊
Sounds made up
No way! 😂
"This is not safe for crocodiles, but i'm gonna do it anyways" is the most australian thing i've heard in a while
And often the last thing they say!
The setting, overcast weather in varirous areas, dangers, sharks in fresh water, various types of fish, big ones too, made a creepy and awesome video brah!
Awesome video and drone shots! Never stop exploring.
That's the plan! Cheers!
Awesome episode! I’d love to see a series of Cavy fishing urban/rural canals and streams. Incredible seeing the Bull shark in that rocky freshwater stream, not to mention the sneaky crocs! One of my favorite videos yet!
If you want more hookups with topwater keep your rod tip high and when the fish strikes drop your rod tip to give the fish slack so it can take off and eat the lure or turn with it and count to 2 and then swing into it. Keep up the great vids🤘🏼
yeah and that socalled walking the dog ....medium rod with a 2 slackline twitches and then 1 crank im not sure hes done it before lol
Dude this is such a good video! I really loved this type of exploring video, especially in fresh water. The bull shark that far up was insane, especially up waterfalls and small rapids! Tight lines.
Cheers dude! Yeah bit different from the saltwater vids for sure! Was a bit of a blast from the past with the creek, just without the crocs, shark and barra! But back in home land we have similar creeks, just mostly bass and sometimes tarpon and jacks!
inspiring stuff, got me hyped to get out, get fish and get content
Cheers dude! Happy to help you get hyped up haha. Go have fun fishing bro, yew!
Another great vid from Cavy, aka "Bill Dance from Down-Undah!" I know how special it is to hits those spots when casting. It's clear you're at the top of your game rn. Love seeing those precise casts!
I would've left the lip on and twitched the lure from left to right on top.
those bara top water smash near the lily pad was sick to watch. very cool to see this style of fishing. really awesome. i'm surprised that they didn't get hooked most of the time. that tarpon was a cool bonus catch. amazing to see that small bullshark in freshwater. it may not have been a topwater bara but it was great see you finally land the golden bara.
Those topwater strikes is what got me hooked to go back the next day even though there was croc(s) waiting for me lol. Like you said was stoked to get one landed in the end even though wasn't top water! It fought so well too, was super shocked, probably really healthy ones in this creek, lots of bait and bull sharks they have to contend with! Yew!
One of my favorite vids of yours, just very interesting part of the world, and to think little water holes like that holding so many awsome fish, very cool fishing.
Thanks for the adventure Cavy! It's nice to be able to see through your eyes places that I could never get to expirience. Take care, stay safe and blessings to you Brother!!!❤😊
I'm here Cavy. I will write more after I watch. That spot didn't look stupid. That first spot looked like fishing in the swamps of Louisiana, US. Those gloves look nice. Sharks, crocodiles and ants, something is going to eat you. haha
I like the different fishing spots you went to. Thanks for bringing me with you.
Yeah you will need to watch the full video to make your decision on the titles question hahaha
@@CavyFishing I don't think you're the unluckiest fisherman. I think you're the greatest fisherman in the world. I watch all of your videos from beginning to end.
You were right it was a common tree snake
I just watched the whole video again. Really beautiful areas you find. Thanks@@CavyFishing
Yah cavy!! Awesome action all the way! Crazy Baramundi! So cool to get DM from you while watching your video! Yew! Take care brah! 🤙👍🫵👊🤙👍🫵
Really enjoyed this style, and this inland setting. It’s more widely relatable. Great stuff Cavy!
I’m a lure maker, I’d love to send you some lures to try on those fish. Hmu
Glad you enjoyed it, i understand about the relatable content, not everyone can get GT's from the rocks on crazy islands haha. Def also enjoyed this one myself as you can see in the vid haha.
Reminds me a lot of fishing in South Florida where I live. Canals and creeks with multiple species of fish including some non-native tropical species, stopping by the side of road, tossing top water lures then quickly changing to soft plastics, walking through the bushes and a bunch of crocodilians. But, our crocodilians are American Alligators who don't, as a rule attack humans, not like salties at all that seem to like Australian human flesh! Great video mate!
Wow new landscape new fish : perfect sunday afternoon watching this 🤙
Yep I don’t do this kind of fishing much!! And it probably shows 😂 Let me know if you enjoy it
That's my type of location! Amazing spots Cavy and you're nuts for standing on that log when it's croc infested 😂. Persistence pays off 👏 well done on the barra!
Hell yeah! Good call on the power bait. The best trout tournaments happen on stocked swimming pools like this
Hey cavy, i dont know if you see this but this freshwater content is actually really awesome, its like a breath of fresh air. I felt at home watching this. Especially when it comes to luck😂.
honestly one of my favorite videos you've ever made, keep at it, these videos are legendary!
Cheers dude! Seems like so many people loving this freshwater adventure! Will for sure try do more of it! Yewww
Absolutely loved this! I know hooking into a massive GT is probably better for the algorithm, but I would love more of this (I love it all though, lol)
What a rad adventure Cavy!!!
"Small lures always worked"
Seems the quote is down on this spot 😁
I wish you could make a session using an light / ultra light setup on the next vids, in case you found a spot like this again
That would be super cool!!
Long Live Cave dog!!! 🙌🤘
For me this was ultralight haha but we can go more light for you ! Yewww
@@CavyFishing Yeeewwww 🙏🤙
Don't know if you'll see this, but try upping the size of your hooks a tad can help with hookups, but it will change the action of the lure some. Or use a slightly smaller top water lure, consider the size and buoyancy of a large top water it makes it a bit harder for the barramundi to eat it. They are a very similar fish to large snook here in florida in the states where i live and they use suction to inhale their food then snap shut. id love to go over there and fish for barra!!! I love catching monster snook here, not sure how big barra get, but the largest snook I've caught was 51", that's a very large snook and aren't caught that size often at all. Did get a nice pic with it.
more of this kinda stuff cavy. its a breath of fresh air and awsome!!
Awesome video! Never stop exploring! 🐾🐾🐾👣👣👣🙏💙🤍💙🤍💙💙💛💙💛 👌👌👌👍👍👍💯
See's big croc = cast at it. Haha love the vids cavy!
Was hoping i could entice it back to the surface!
@@CavyFishing have seen some big Crocs in that creek
When I saw the thumbnail, I said to myself, it's because of spiders, snakes or crocs. Worked with some Bunbury lads back in the '90s, and always had a great time fishing or diving. The Hash runs weren't too bad either.
Great video mate, keep them coming.
Love this, great to see you out doing something different. More of this.👍👍
This is one of my favourite episodes Cavy..! Legit amazing mate 👌🏼
You are the best bro
All videos are amazing! ❤
Keep going
You are the reason why I startet fishing and going soon to Indonesia
Yeeew
This one hurt my brain to edit hahaha, cheers!
If they were all like this bro...I wouldn't watch anything else. Thanks my friend...we really enjoyed it!!
Glad you enjoyed it bro! Will defiantly try more freshwater vids
I live in Louisiana and we have alligators here, but they don't bother us too much when we fish, and we have to be careful when bank fishing but nothing like those crocs you have there. Those boys are nasty and fearless and as you showed us, they will hunt you. Great video, see you on the next one.
I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more content like this from you! Ledges and unhabited islands with GT in all it's glory, but this was also really fun ❤
Sick to see something a bit different love the vids Cavy
Nice video mate. Good change from the normal.. Enjoyed it a lot… More different styles like this would be great to watch.. I want to see you catch a massive Barra! 👍🏻
What do you think!! Am i the luckiest, or the unluckiest fisherman alive? Lol
Both
Hahaha very insightful, i feel everyone has lucky and unlucky days, these ones for me in this vid for sure had the sea saw effect @@Fishingastonnz
I wouldn't said unlucky cav, just need more preparation😆. I lost my plier and now i tie them with rubber snap carabiner, bring alot lure into my tackle boxes many from size big into micro to handle miss bite. Fresh water game is fun and tricky. Realy pumps you up 😊😊😊
Bro, definitely will say lucky. The reason is , you live your life to the fullest and have amazing catches only fishermen like myself dream of. Congratulations bro, stay safe and be blessed.
Bloody lucky.... after living in Arnhem land and seeing what crocs are capable I had anxiety on a number of occasions watching you here.. Great fishing spot and vid but stay safe mate.
54:52 Omg MONSTER on 8 lb light gear, way to go, man. I wanna go to Australia now. Bucket list. Great outing and video. I've never stayed this long for a bank fishing video. Until this one. Thanks, man.
We need videos more videos like this i love where you go out to island for big gt but it was nice watching you fishing some creeks for big bara 👌
More to come legend! Cheers bro
Hello Cavybara (great name), new fresh water adventure, pay atention to crocs.I see all your gt s videos.
Greatings from Azores islands,Portugal Europe.
Bull sharks spawn in the fresh water, you’d be surprised how far up you’d find them
When you got back in the car after seeing the Croc, if you'd had someone in the back seat with a Croc glove puppet sticking its head up behind you it would've been comedy gold... Well, it was in my head, anyway.🐊
Always great content, mate. Cheers! It's appreciated.
Hahahaha could be my fishing film director bro
First part of video looks like Gaganga Plains/Lethebrook near Proserpine NQ.
i think it is mate
Great, my friend, the spot still has lots of natural fish, always be careful of snakes, thank you for sharing the cool catch and the fish are being released again 👍🙏🙏 58:54
Where is this😭 it’s like heaven
epic video mate, really like the chill vibes in this one, definatelly want to see more of these. By th way you should get a nice baticasting setup to be more comfortable with this type of fishing. Cheers mate
Hey bro, funny that! I just got a Daiwa Tatula SV SW 70, looking forward to giving it a crack! Yew
I’d be so worried about getting took by a croc.
Cool vid Cavy, awesome to see you doing different stuff!
I believe after all those strikes and nothing getting hooked I'd trash that lure and try something different.
Right, or at least add a trailer hook.
Cavy, I'd say luckiest fisherman alive! for surviving that first croc infested river.
Just before you caught the tarpon and were walking along the bank I thought you'd relaxed way too much!! then you did the water release !!! I fully expected to see a croc looking back at the gopro during that!
Top vid. Sharks , snakes, biting ants isn't Oz grouse!
Hi Cavy a couple of suggestions 1) get some super sharp hooks such as Owner brand 2). Slow down your top water retrieve and let it sit. I have had big Barra take a lure floating motionless on the surface
Thanks for the tips mate
omg, Giant crocodiles- Australia sure does have it's fair share of major bodily injury risk for outdoor bush recreation. Snakes, *spiders*, and big ole man eating lizards lurking often invisibly too close for comfort!
Fun video, man. A total riot. Sohhhmuch FUN!
Sick video! Love the inland fishing videos and hunting for cool spots to fish! Nice job filming and finding some cool animals 🤟
Totally mind blowing! Sharks, deadly snakes, ferocious ants, and crocodiles that are expert stalkers! Here in the US we have it made. Even in the south eastern part of the country, compared to your crocs our alligators are rather placid. Stay healthy my friend. And, thanks for sharing! Yew!
I looked up the snake. I believe you were correct. It was a tree snake. Per Wikipedia "Sometimes when approached, the snake inflates its body and neck to make itself seem larger, a tactic sometimes used to scare predators."
My waterman try to explore some fresh water experiences,,what a great video dude !! Keep wild & salty ,, yewww 🤙🤙🤙
That's the plan brother! Have a good one
Yeah Cavy that was Amazing content ! Variety is the spice of life indeed ! that Sooty Grunter didnt look very big until you got him out , Holly molly he was big . I notice you finally got a Barra on a small lure ? Your fishing Brain is A1 and i pretty much prefer watching listening to your stuff over all the others . Yew !
You bring me so much Joy. I am grinning ear to ear watching this. Love to see you rise to a new challenge! 🥰🙏
Epic dude, good to hear and much appreciate mate! Cheers
Yes this was sick!! What a video the shark was nuts but it was class when you managed you're barramundi!! 👍👌🎣🐟
What a nice Movie. Dangerous but really Big fish in there. Shark in fresh water. Never seen before. Wow ! More content like this please. Greetings from Switzerland
Thanks
Thanks for the tip mate, much appreciated! Hope your enjoying the videos 🫶🏾
55:00 that definitely is a "stonker" what a horse of a fish😂 well done mate,
Man the amountof wildlife you saw was fkn awesome, great video
Substitute Salt water crocodile 🐊 and bull shark 🦈 with black Bear 🐻 and Bull Moose 🫎 and it’s like fishing Northern Ontario. 🇨🇦 Nice one brother! Well done adventure. 🎣
Sick video man 🤙🏽 going to get my ass off the couch and thrown a line after this 🤟🏽
I’ve never heard somebody refer to 20lb as ultra light as a bass and trout guy from California. I regularly use 4lb-6lb for my UL setups PERSPECTIVE IS CRAZY amazing video Cavy❗️❗️❗️
He said it was an 8 lb line with a 20. Lb leader.
and 4lb line is not that light !
Cavy I love the diversity of your videos. Keep them coming bruh
Always taking it to another level brother, never seen anyone sight cast a crocodile before 😂 love it
as a veiwer from flordia i have been chasing tarpon since the new years, and i have had some crazy luck with weighted swimbaits, glad to see it works for you to!
Great to see some fresh water fishing. Can't believe you went out on that tree that's crazy but then you show a shark in the river, man alive I love you videos
Nice vid mate! seems like your over anticipating the strike. Always go, fish strike's, breath then ease the pressure. only pull back hard when the fish is running the line away from you. Otherwise you pull it out of there mouth. But really cool action and lovely location bro nice enjoyed!
That’s INSANE that Mr Shark is just cruisin around in a creek! 😮🤙🏾 Beautiful spot man.
Definitely my new favorite Cavy fishing video, the sharks were crazy.
Sick baramundi. I was praying you were gonna throw the soft plastics the whole episode 😂. Reminds me a lot of snook or largemouth bass fishing here in florida. I had no clue you guys had tarpon as well. Awesome!
Yeah bro we have tarpon but for some reason they only grow to like 5-7pounds. Would be cool to catch a big one !
@@CavyFishing yea that's wild we have them all the way from 2lb to 200lbs the big ones seem to like the rivermouths and channels oceanside where the juvenile ones stick to the mangroves inshore. Thats really strange you guys have juvenile but no adults
Well you did it inspite of crocks, sharks, snakes, snags and tricky fish! You are a brave man. Thanks for the entertaining video.
Definitely on edge the whole time hahaha
Brilliant session - loving it from Holland - tight lines 🎣💪🏻✊🏻☘️👍🏻😘
Yoww Cavy, !!! Dangerous mission Ayyye 😂
... Just a little Story, here in Merauke West Papua , We also Fishing For Barramundi and Saratoga( Arowana)...
We use Minnow, Top Water WTD lure, And Jump Frog...,,
... And Jump Frog is Rarely Missed 😀,, And Cheap Also...
American fisherman here, never caught a bara before, but i have used treble hooks on our fish here, you do not need to set the hook really at all (unless baras have stone like mouths), just a fairly gentle yank to the side and the hooks do the work for you.
Beside my 2cents, amazing video loved every minute, keep it goin Cavy!
The trekking pays off! Nice job Mr Cavy. 👏🏼👏🏼
I’d highly recommend some venom gaiters for those missions bro. You get whacked by a snake out in that country you are pretty much cactus bro!
WHATS GOING ON WITH THOSE HOOKS!!!!!!!! that would drive me crazy!!!!! love this vid. you should do more river fishing like this.
Another mint ep. Cavdawg! Keep working on that hookup rate tho legend 😂
The species were Common Tree Snake (Dendrelaphis punctulatus) and Wedge-tailed Eagle, not sure about the roo.
Set the hook !! Lol killing me Cavy. Those top water strikes were awesome.
Cavy Ninja - be careful out there bruv. Stoked to see you filming freshwater adventures. Lots of species to find. Stay safe man.
Hey mate fellow Aussie here , great video mate, you've got a new sub. God Barra's look like such a fun and exciting fish , man you got some balls standing on that log in croc country, I'm sure you know how high they can leap out of the water. Stay safe mate✌️
I'm from the US and that was a pretty good video mate. Like I said a little less talking but you know rated very well new video is very crisp and I like the way you use the underwater camera. You did a very good job with your video play professional and I will be watching more of your videos as I said this is the first video that I have watched from you. God bless
Love the content! Reminded me I used to love fishing… still do and now I’m gonna get back at it!
Go for it bro! Happy to help inspire again! Yew
Love your positive attitude after missing the most fish I have seen on youtube. Nice Barramundi. And its not uncommon for Bull Sharks to spawn in Fresh water and travel miles down rivers.
I appreciate that! Have to stay positive even when you miss more fish than anyone ever on TH-cam hahaha!
I mean fishing in Australia where everything wants to eat, sting, or bite you is got to be a crazy paranoid experience all by itself. Hats off to you bro. Awesome video btw
Also I have question I wanna ask. So does the water you fish in this video is it effected by the tides like rise with the in coming out going tides or do you fellas have just straight freshwater water sharks lol
It can get a little scary, but I'm out there for the thrill and the beauty, yewww!
Favorite video from you in a while! More barramundi fishing please!!
Yeah mate, always good to try mix up the content whenever possible, yew!
That was epic! Great fishing spot🎣✌️
Well done, you got your big barra but jeez not many would fish on the banks of croc waters, there must have been big yellow eyes looking up at you " thats it, closer buddy, come on"
Great episode 🎣👍
This video is really so refreshing and in the best way and meaning: ENTERTAINMENT!
for shallow water with lots of obstacles its tough going. In normal conditions, your drag might be set a bit too high, the hooks might be getting in but they're ripping out. In that situation id use conventional extra heavy setup, then switch out the hooks to a slightly larger size and extra sharp needle point hooks. the "Triple Grip" style with canted in points tend to stay in better from my experience. Use straight 80lb braid, no leader.
Very cool video! That shark is gnarly in that creek/river system.
Sharks, crocodiles in freshwater streams and rivers, wild dogs:)) Your freshwater fishing's insane and awesome! you are definitely real ) fisherman. I know a lot of fishermen who only love winter ice fishing and... they get bored in the summer and conversely:). There are those who love only sea fishing, and freshwater one gets boring them. It seems you love all types of fishing. Continue your awesome advantures bro!
Yeah mate! I’ve always said a fish is a fish haha any thing you can catch is a good time! Much appreciated mate! Hope your getting your share of catches 👍🏾
Never tired of watching your videos bro. Amazing and epic adventures. And that shark in fresh water🤯
Always keep safe!👌
And another flier down😅
Yeah bull sharks are known to swim way up stream (80km in one particular case) they have a special gland to regulate salt so they can swim in freshwater
Awesome vid! Your videos are so intriguing, funny and exciting at the same time! Love your personality. I was wondering if the Baramandi have a bony mouth and maybe thats why there were so many misses? Would a thinner sharper trebble hook make a difference?
Keep it coming with the inland fishing vids!! Awesome new spots! Watch for the crocs tho bruh!!
I am proud of your patience,
And I just found out that in a lake like that there are really extraordinary fish...👍
