I love it for it’s nostalgic value. It was the currency of my childhood. Many comic books, baseball cards, grape Nehi sodas etc. we’re bought with this coinage. The comic books and baseball cards are long gone and now I wish I had saved the coins instead of spending them. Every time I hold them, the memories come flooding back.
I've been concentrating on 90% for 6-7 months now. I've been watching stocks dwindle. Mercury,s for example are getting harder to find. Buy it while you can folks
I'm a fan of Roosevelt dimes. They're the newest so they are generally less worn and have the most silver content..and since you usually buy it at a face value price it makes more sense for me. For bartering I think that is more ideal. Plus, theyre convenient to use for bartering since they are by their very nature "fractional".
I love your channel Stateside! I stack every variety of G and S.... Lately been stacking dimes and halves and rounds. I love it all! Thanks for your service to Country Stateside!
I get a kick out of folks spending extreme premiums buying newly minted fractional silver for future barter- usually 1/10 pieces. Guess they never heard of good old US 90%, huh?!
@@rtygrest I get it war nickels catch a lot slack for ultimate "junk" that nobody wants but as far a fractional and best bang for your buck they are not a bad choice. Everyone knows you can get them at spot/melt most of the time. What they don't know is that it only takes 90 cents (18 nickels) to make just over 1 troy ounce. Not a $1.40!
I love constitutional silver:D It's the only silver that i buy now. And in the event of a government confiscation, silver bullion is open game but constitutional isn't. I try to stick with later dates, such as 1960 to 1964 for quarters, halves, and dimes as these typically have less wear and thus closer to the as minted weight than the older series. For Morgans and Peace dollars, i get what ever i can. Nothing like the sound of silver coins ringing as opposed to the clunking of real junk clad! I still go for the graded standing liberty quarters as they are one of the most beautiful US coins ever minted (just my opinion).

A you tube coin shop told me that if they get way to much 90 percent silver that they send it off to the refinery to have it melted. Once it’s melted, history has been deleted and it’s gone forever. In my opinion they should try to sell it to another shop who does not have much of it. I’m sure the government wants to see all that silver melted so they can make more non silver coins with little value to them.
@@Slim1962 That is sad to hear , probably happens all the time, & boom history lost forever, in my opinion it shouldn't be allowed but most of the shop's & LCS's are numb to it, they are around it all day every day, so I would probably have to say to them silver is silver. Well said. I don’t know why anyone would buy fractional silver when you can buy junk. It serves no purpose that I can see. It just seems like a marketing ploy by dealers
I don’t go out of my way for 40%, but I don’t turn it away either. I collect the war nickels for historical reasons. But, I’m all about the 90%. I also don’t go out of my way for pure fractional, however, if I find something that looks cool, I may grab one. Most of my 1/10 Oz rounds have gone the way of the Silver Dragons inspired penny press.
Given all of the various scenarios, the most important of which being utility and inherent numismatic value, I think Constitutional or Junk Silver is likely the best overall value for your money. I think ASEs run a close second, but it is because of its utility and inherent numismatic value that I've made 90% Constitutional Silver the foundation of my Silver stack. I do buy Constitutional Silver, in part, for the prepping or possible future barter currency it could be, though I don't necessarily think that's a highly likely scenario. I simply follow the old adage that it's better to have and not need than to need and not have. It's similar to the admonition that I'm sure you picked up in the military that 2 is 1 and 1 is none. I think Constitutional will end up having the highest utility for me, and I think it will likely have the largest universe of possible buyers as well. I think people will desire a 90% Silver dollar or half dollar more than they would a 2024 Silver Eagle, in part because of the novelty of having something that is 80 to 140+ years old. Lastly, it's one of the absolute coolest thing that I can leave behind to my family that will have genuine value and be of service to them in their own lives when I can't be there to help.
Constitutional silver, IMO, sits perfectly at the cross roads of stacking (for whatever reason you have) and collectibility. Both can provide long lasting value and higher returns over time - which includes premiums further than silver spot price alone. That said, i don’t mix Morgan silver dollars in with “junk” silver solely because of the silver content. “Pound for pound” Morgan’s have almost 6% more silver content. In small dollar amounts, or singular transactions, it’s not significant but anything else and it can really add up. The average silver in $1 FV of “junk” silver is ~0.715 oz. The average silver in $1 FV of Morgan’s (and Peace) is 0.7734 oz …..that’s 5.84% more than “junk” silver.
The beauty of it to me is you can spend just a few bucks and walk out with something. I pick up a couple half dollars every Friday as a celebration of surviving another week in the rat race. With the way the cost of silver is going right now that is considerably less expensive than buying a silver eagle or a 1 ounce bar or a round.
Those looking for Dimes, do you know Vermillion Enterprises? Spring Hill, FL. Great people and today they have a large supply of dimes. You’re welcome. Lol.
Do you prefer vintage constitutional silver like winged liberty dimes, standing liberty quarters and walking liberty halves, or do you prefer the weight of the newer constitutional silver? I choose vintage all day!
True, but Constitutional silver wins for quick verification. If you pay me with a bag of silver rounds, I'm gonna need to verify they are real first. Too many counterfeits out there.
I don't collect them for transactions. The failure of the dollar will not happen in my lifetime. As far as constitutional silver, I've got plenty of that. It's the first thing I start collecting 30 years ago.
