You're absolutely right, FCA (or whatever the Fiat corporation was called) needs to ditch those French companies and actually focus on their brands. Bring back Alfa Romeo and Dodge sports/muscle cars!
Electric motors are pretty nifty and cool. Honestly they're like little engines in and of themselves, I can easily see specialists fixing them. Interesting thing will be seeing the differing characteristics of an electric motor after a rebuild vs an engine.
Very good analysis and take on the situation, however, this video fails to account for the EU market. Sure, dodge and Chrysler are on their own downturn, however, Alfa Romeo and Fiat specifically are brands that I believe are not going away anytime soon. The tonale and new fiat 500 sell very well in Europe. In Italy, I was surprised to see the tonale and giulia quadrifolio all over the place, even as police cars, and even the new fiat having been a success, given the cult following we have for its past versions. These brands already have lasting legacies in Europe, and it’s not like they haven’t gone through rough times either. So, even if they downscale their market in the US, I believe they will still be a key player in the euro car scene. For Maserati, sure, they are not doing the best right now, and that is reflected by their poor choices in what they choose to call automotive design
I know you're not taking the euro market into account, but I think their main focus is the global market, since they're successful everywhere else but the US. dodge hasn't really done anything new in a long time, the charger and challenger were pretty old and needed to go, and they just need to design a hit car, maybe it's already in the oven, but without their biggest sellers, they never really had anything else. Fiat in the US is just a novelty; maybe they exit the market, but that's not much of a worry for them. Maserati has had problems with reliability, sales and depreciation basically since it's inception as a major car brand and it seems their recent push (which was only possible due to stellantis) with the MC20 wasn't enough to make it viable. Chrysler has been digging it's own grave for way too long and is just waiting for someone to push it inside. You can't blame it all on stellantis, a lot of this was inevitable. Remember that stellantis didn't "buy" a bunch of brands, it is simply the merger between PSA (aka the good european part with Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, etc) and Fiat-Chrysler (aka the bad part which has been struggling for a while due almost entirely to Chrysler, which can't find it's footing in it's homeland nor establish itself in literally any other market in the world for decades and has been swapped around between other brands for a long time) please do more research before diving in a topic with superficial information
stellantis ruined so many brands and they lost so much of their identity. just take a look at alfa romeo and maserati 20-40 years ago before they joined this stupid company.
i think the only chace most of these brands have in the time frame given is to rebadge the European models that are selling well mainly Peugeot/Citroen and opel/Vauxhall models as those seem to have the best sales from what I have seen they can be used as a place holder in model ranges while new models are developed as right now most of these brands need something and even a few thousand extra sales could be enough to by the time they need
your entire rant doubting the generator charged electric drive hybrid can be answered by watching 3-4 youtube shorts by Edison Motors. an EV with a gasoline or diesel generator is the most efficient and economical way forward for all non-hobbyist/motorsport applications.
When Scout fails, and it will fail if it’s EV only, VW will scoop up the remains of Stellantis solely to sell RAMs and Jeeps. I could then see that try and revitalize Dodge with a hot hatch and a clean sheet Muscle Car design that utilizes the V8 from Audi/Porsche, although that’s unlikely to be successful unless they HEAVILY modify it. Might even bring out a mid-engined “Viper” that shares a lot of parts with the Lambo Temerario a la the original Audi R8. Fiat will become rebadged Skodas for the Italian market as Peugeot will for the French market, and all the other Euro brands are dead. Chrysler gets the axe because there’s no room in the market that VW doesn’t already occupy. And this is the hopeful scenario, the worst scenario is that they get bought by the Chinese who unsuccessfully use Ram and Jeep to try and peddle electric trucks in the US. Either way, really sad, especially considering the care and consideration that Sergio Marchione put into Dodge back when he was the head of FCA.
stellantis really thought c0vid pricing would last forever. they got greedy and consumers have now looked elsewhere. just sold my dodge and bought a bu*ck

Sure, Peugeot and Citroën are amazing cars, if you don’t count the engine (1.2L PureTech engines blowing out before they hit 100k km), or the nightmare electronics, or their generic af design, or their poor management of the interior space, or the poor visibility that the non-SUV cars like the Peugeot 308 has because of a shitty screen that is as high as possible because they felt like it. Yeah, if you don’t count any of those things, they’re amazing brands.
Nah Peugeot has been cooking with their designs recently. And the latest Citroën C3 is super spacious for the car of its size and I love the interior. But yeah I agree otherwise.
