Yeah the $10000 truck from Toyota will not be allowed to be sold in America and now GMS saying they're gonna make it $8000 truck still not for Americans we're screwed we get the junk that don't even last a year .

It’s not the companies, it’s the US Government. They’ve regulated the modern automobile into expensive technobloat. You could have a $10k truck if you could force deregulation.
@@CoyoteBytes I refuse to believe that, Ford has smaller trucks that it refuses to build because the profit margin is so huge on the big trucks. They want MARGIN not units. The Maverick (although overpriced and bloated) is not getting built in any big numbers. NOBODY WANTS A TOYOTA WITH PLASTIC WINDOWS AND WON’T DRIVE ON THE FREEWAY.

I'm also handicapped so these trucks with 12-18 inches of ground clearance are not even remotely friendly to get into

it feels like USA is at its breaking point. I think that in the next 10 years or so we'll go back to a "developing" nation. The demographics are already starting to look like one.

My '07 Tundra was $26.6k, less $3k discount for accepting one off the lot instead of the one I was going to order. It was too late to order one in December.

Absolutely ! From an industry insider I can tell you that is true. Want to collect more taxes and get higher profits? Add a catalytic converter MANDATE to increase vehicle Price, get more profit, collect more tax money on a higher priced vehicle.

Far from over. North America has to be 10-20% of the world market for trucks and its not sold here.
With roll up windows, no carpet, knobs on the radio, no screens, small fuel-efficient engines. Virtually no electronics and no "magic" BS.

My 80 SR5 still runs strong. I've had it for 20 years and don't know far it will go. Time will tell.
For a monent I had high hopes for a no nonsense no extras car.. just a car, cheap, reliable, economic, with a round thing in front of you to make it go around corners and a pedal to make more noise.. I want that thing in Europe.
I have good memories of a toyota cab over flatbed pickup in in the 80s it was well engineered with the only drawback of poor underbody rust protection but I loved it.
It's too bad Ford, Dodge and GM never learned that building a quality vehicle at a lower price will generate sales.

Not click bait, but an opportunity for us to show Congress how many people here are unhappy at being frozen out of the market for affordable, reliable new vehicles because of all the frills, bells and whistles that Congress and their auto industry lobbyists have crammed down out throats ~~ especially with that gun-to-our-heads travesty of mandated total switch to EVs looming on the horizon!
hopefully they will bring a base model to Canada, Cause right now I am going to be repairing my old truck for a long time, as new trucks are simply priced out of the reach of the average person anymore.

Toyota, there are no more 2dr models in America, period. Canoo might bring one out, and I'd love one. If you sold it here, I'm sure you'd have $10M sales figures for it the first year. I'm keeping my '07 Tundra until I find an inexpensive replacement for it.

I hope these arrive (one way or another) before my Subaru Sambar wears out. I need a light weight, 4wd, drop gate, flatbed truck with no frills. I would appreciate a slightly higher degree of safety that this Toyota would offer. No way I will ever buy a bloated American, fixed box, gas gulping, giant wheeled, road pig I would struggle to park at the local strip mall. I don't want a second set of house-sized payments and insurance.

This is a fantastic idea and I hope Toyota get a lot of sales. I run an old Vitara, I don't need or want complicated electronic that cost a fortune to fix when they go wrong, I want simple, rugged vehicle and it looks like this Toyota has it. I Would spend $10,000 to get one !

Wow Toyota figured it out. A truck for 10k. Given a Superduty doesn't have 20k into it, 60k mark up is executives pay. Well that and your engineering team redesigning the truck every year now cause they can't get it right the first time.
US federal regulations, screwed up the contractor's pickup truck. The 1970s size pickup with its no-frills interior is in my opinion what the marketplace should be offering. If you want to pick up truck that really a car then buy something else.
Why did the US pickup truck become a monster truck, because of the way the federal regulations are written in a manufacturer's incentive for more money. Change the regulations to allow for smaller trucks i.e. better gas mileage more economical to operate and lower price.

What can this truck realistically haul ? Most people in America pull trailers with their truck. Especially lawn care and home remodelers and builders like me. A tiny cramped underpowered truck would be useful for me.
Totota !!!! Plywood in the US comes in 4X8 foot sheets.. It has been that size for 100 years. The bed of the truck should accommodate 49 or 50 inches wide,, and 97 or 98 inches long. Everything else is a pain in the butt.

My suggestion was based upon,, yeah small, cheap,, nice, but. If it can't load a piece of plywood,, a useless toy. You could buy a stripped down F150 for 20k just 3 years ago. Now they all come with infotainment system backup cameras,, painted an opalescent pink, and an 87k price tag. Trash. 0=60 in 2.4 seconds,, why? Pickup trucks are supposed to haul stuff. All the rest of that goop is trash.

Nissan should make a stripped-down pickup after giving-up on their Titan. The pickup would be obe color (white), no radio, and all flatness. Plant will fail to meet demand.
Toy might sell some of those, but they sure ain't purty. Most people want more, like A/C, ps, pb, pw, int wipers, cloth seats, arm rests, DVD player, etc. I wonder how much the customers will be screwed by the dealer for these add-ons. Well, ALMOST, Toy. I'll be keeping my '07 Tundra after all.

Why cannot our brave and bold representatives in Congress repeal the chicken tax so that the US can have access to this small and inexpensive pickup as well as its more upmarket brethren from Toyota, Nissan, VW, Mitsubishi, etc., etc.? Maybe they don't want to because it would piss off the major pickup manufacturers in the US - Ford, Chevy, and Ram being among the best selling US made vehicles for the last umpteen years.
