I think it was a combination of Hogan still being the biggest star, backstage politics and Vince just going with the better event.
Great video. My only critique is the post-Wrestlemania VII portion. I wanted to hear about the Hogan-Slaughter Boot Camp matches, SNME 29, Warrior-Slaughter rematches, and how the Undertaker was elevated to the main event at this time. As a teenager in New Zealand watching this feud develop I found it so funny and entertaining. Props to Slaughter for doing all the uncomfortable work to build up the heat. It always erked me that in the pics of him with the belt it still had the Warrior's violet strap on it. Details people!

Zach S. Yes I know. I’m talking more about the character. He was a brilliant heel and had the potential to be one of the best. The gimmick had genuine heat. McMahon messes up there
I thought I heard that the networks forced Hassan off the air after the London bombings in 2005 and the storyline of Hassan using masked mercenaries to help him. Smackdown was about to be kicked off of UPN so Vince had to drop him.

I seem to have a memory of the kind of, "recovery" that they tried to do to walk back this angle a little by claiming that Slaughter was lying about him and Hussein being best friends, and it all being a ruse. Like, Hussein didn't like him as much as we in the US didn't like him.
Saddam and Adnan did really know each other years ago, though.
Let me just say, I absolutely love your content. You consistently produce well made videos detailing the events of some of the most historic and influential moments and performers in all of professional wrestling. Your channel really is the premier source for wrestling history. Just top notch all around.
Vince not caring about his employee’s real family getting real threats just for the sake of a fake story is just about the most Vince thing I’ve heard.
Vince McMahon deadass tried to profit off of desert storm 🤦🏾♂️
Its better than trying to push Roman reigns or Kofi Kingston, at least this was interesting and larger than life
The WWF was in with profiting off any disasters in this world along with everyone else. From using the Iron Sheik during the Iranian hostage crisis till this very day.
Lucky he learned his lesson and never tried to get cheap heat from real world tragedies ever again.............
@The007FMG Genius move
@Alejandro Armenta still like your comment tho
Despite hating the Ultimate Warrior one thing I did love is how he was the first on to customise the Intercontinental & WWF belts by having different coloured leather straps. I also remember my mum watching a Sargent Slaughter promo talking about Iraq and saying how disgusted she was that they would do that story while the war was on and people were dying
ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL VIDEO!! GOD BLESS
Outstanding work Fella!..Really appreciated the video-splices between your usual slideshow.. I'd pay a small fortune for a..Vinnie-Mc'Dancin SLAMMY Review!🤑🤑🕺💃
Been waiting on this one for awhile!!
I've also never felt the draw argument was relevant to Warrior losing the title, the gu was a definite draw and was such a cross over star that people still recognise him now. That says it all. I think it was a combination of Hogan still being the biggest star, backstage politics and Vince just going with the better event.
Love the way they aren’t just chairs. They are “steel chairs”. 😂
Great video. My only critique is the post-Wrestlemania VII portion. I wanted to hear about the Hogan-Slaughter Boot Camp matches, SNME 29, Warrior-Slaughter rematches, and how the Undertaker was elevated to the main event at this time. Slaughter turning face and Ric Flair’s arrival should have been the conclusion.
That's following video
The reality was even when not champion, Hogan demanded more attention
Thanks a million for this!
Thanks for making these I just learned about u bro, I binge ur channel like it was netflix
I remember Tugboat asking for cards and letters for Hogan, then Tugboat eventually became Earthquakes tag team partner. That's loyalty for ya! 😆
He was a baby face again in less than a year
He turned a year later tbh
That was all a ploy by VKM to get names to send out merchandise catalogues in the mail …this is very genius if you think about it ! LoL
Slaughters heel turn was hilarious. The picture with him, general adnan and saddam was genius. These days nobody has a sense of humour
But it is offensive back then
@@lexkanyima2195 I remember it well. It was never offensive to me or anyone I knew. I remember thinking it was just crazy
@@Captain_Rhodes it is
Cheers man. Great watch. Keep them coming! 👍
Another brilliant bio 👍
I was devastated when Earthquake sat on Hulk. I like to think it was my letter to him that gave him that extra push to return and take out Earthquake!!!
Hell yeah nothing but fire from this channel.
“Sergeant Slaughters reign as WWF Champion is gonna be just like ay, uhh...you know what, brother! It’s gonna be just like Sudan Hoo-Sayin’s reign over Kuwait, brother...it’s gonna be only temporary!”
Yeah, that’s a real quote.
For some reason I can't explain, when I was I little hulkamaniac I rented this wrestlemania so many times my local video shop eventually gave it to me lol
My childhood right here man. Savage vs. Warrior, Hogan vs. Slaughter, the Nasty Boys upsetting the Hart Foundation, Jake the Snake vs. The Model in a Blindfold Match, and the debut of the Undertaker. What a Mania!
Don't forget Big Boss Man vs Mr. Perfect for the IC title! I was so pissed Bossman didn't win the belt after working his way through the Heenan family for weeks 😂
@@559BearDown I think there's footage of Boss man winning the IC title from Nailz on a house show.
Another great video upload buy wrestling bios
Cracking vid lad !
Your work on these videos are so good man, I haven’t missed one and I won’t
I was so upset when warrior lost the belt to slaughter, but I loved wrestlemania 7, I didn’t realise it was a slump. The main event was good but the warrior vs savage match was so good and at the time, being 14 years old and my first wrestlemania, the warrior vs savage match seemed so important and intense as if it was the News at 10
Sheikh Tugboat is too HILARIOUS to comprehend, would have been Awfully Epic though.
Love me some wresting bios keep it coming brother!!
If you look at the small thumbnail for this video, it sort of looks like Sgt. Slaughter is holding a wand.
Dude, usually I give a thumbs up to your video before even watching it
WWE just recently did a TH-cam video where Hogan and Sarge sit together and rewatch their WM7 match. Pretty good to check out
Met sgt slaughter a few months ago a class act
It’s strange to think Sgt. Slaughter held the WWE title longer than Kane or Mick Foley ever did.
That is so crazy the Hogan and Earthquake spot I was like 7-8 I just became a wwf fan. I remember running out of the room and crying for the Hulkster and my dad consoling me😂
As a teenager in New Zealand watching this feud develop I found it so funny and entertaining. Props to Slaughter for doing all the uncomfortable work to build up the heat. It always erked me that in the pics of him with the belt it still had the Warrior's violet strap on it. Details people!
Would’ve much rather had a proper Hogan vs Earthquake matchup at WM 7 instead of Slaughter.
I don't understand why anyone would give this a thumb down...
Fantastic video, per usual. 👍
Love your analysis of these story lines.
I loved this one. It was awesome. Hulk Hogan is the most GOATest of all time.
Muhammed Hassan was incredibly over as a heel. It's a damn shame McMahon never pushed him to the WWE Championship belt. Hassan had the potential to be one of the best heel characters ever in WWE almanac.
There could be issue with wwfs only major Arab wrestler being a heel though.
anjetto1 Iron Sheikh was Arab! Hassan was well over and beyond his time. He had amazing heat and deserved a major title run. Shame Vince never forwarded his storyline.
Considering the time Vince could not give him a push.
Zach S.
I send Hulk Hogan a letter to come back and I got a postcard back from the Hulkster. I was ecstatic. I was 16 years old teenager but I was a huge Hulkamaniac and I’m now 47 and I’m still a huge Hulkamaniac
I hated Hogan, but my sister loved him. I wrote to them to wish him well, and was amazed to recieve a post card in return, which obviously made me the best brother in the world to my sister, who believed Hogan had written it himself lol
I wrote to Hulk Hogan when Earthquake destroyed Hogan too !! 😊. Got the same postcard everyone else received ,the picture on front of it of him holding the black dumbells.
Of course ,i thought hed typed it up himself and sent it to me!
Slaughter's selling in this match is seriously underrated.... He made the Hulkster look like a million dollars.
If Vince pulled a storyline like that today with social media I think he would be in hot water
I believe that.
He kind of did with muhammad hassan but that destroyed hassan's career
Hot water is not the term with this generation.. He would get slaughtered!(pun intended) 🤣🤣
Slaughter was a Master at being a Heel. He literally slaughtered the two biggest icons of that era during a short period of time and turned his back on his country lol The menacing way he would talk above people, and spitting all over the place. He was a true super villain!
He's spot on with his take on the Ultimate Warrior not being booked well during his run with the strap. The WWF didn't seem interested in building a proper feud or storyline for the Warrior. Such a shame. Vince never gave him a chance to draw.
@Alex Kanyima My guess would be their WrestleMania VII match, if Vince lets the Warrior hold onto the title by that time.
@Alex Kanyima Yeah
I think I was the only 1 who cheer for Sgt slaughter. This is my era❤
