It's by far his biggest criticism. Then it's his back. There's a reason for all the debate that he won the O. He knows it, Iain knows, all of bbing knows it. Though unlike the majority of pros he'll admit he's got a flaw.
Damn finally a couple guys that can explain bench press (chest) vs close grip (tris) Thank you guys. That explanation nailed it. So many "lifters" dont understand a thing you said about it.
Recommendations for those who will do the close grip bench : try it on the floor as i (close grip floor press) it automatically takes care of that for you
On the close grip bench it actually makes a big difference between using the range of motion they recommend, and using full range of motion. I don't have slabs of beef to limit the motion, and my arms are really long so I get a deep stretch in the triceps which helps
Chris is by far my favorite pro. His biceps are what they are. Clearly the shape is all about his genetics. So many similarities to Yates there. But the rest of his physique is outstanding. It’s about the total product. The look. The posing. There will be others with better aspects for sure. Better back. Better biceps. Etc. but it’s about the total look and feel. That’s what I like about classic. I may not be able to “define” it categorically but I know it when I see it. The two open guys like that for me were Phil and Dorian. Just something about them says their total package is what people are looking for.
What Chris said about lowering weight and mind muscle connection that’s it right there! I can grow elsewhere with decent gains but always lagged on bi’s and to extent started to question all my other exercises.
It's amazing how much you can get out of a lower weight once you develop a strong mind muscle connection. Focusing on rep quality and training volume is really important once you're past the newbie gains/beginner stage. Progressive overload will take care of itself if you're focusing on performing the movements with great form and awareness. I think people get too fixated on adding weight to the bar, especially naturals. A lot of the time the best technique on an exercise for muscle gain is a less efficient method instead of the method that allows you to move the most weight (e.g. low bar vs. high bar squats for quads).
The machine overhead tricep ext is my favorite machine. Shit got my triceps massive af. Gyms rarely have it tho so I have to improvise on a cable machine with a bench
I did this exact workout last week. But I didn’t realize then that I’m not an Olympian, I am a beginner. I came to find out that there’s such a thing as training too much in a single workout.
All exercises are very excellent and brilliant sirji of arms workout and keep going hard and keep getting gains and be strong 💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Guys, what is your experience with the Close Grip Bench Press with an underhand (pronated) grip? My goal is to add mass to the triceps, not just strenght. Grabbing the bar with the palms in reverse grip instead of the normal grip?
I feel like weighted calisthenics or sticking to the heavy compound movements is best for combination for arm development. Everything else is just accessory work.
