Most all shop techs recommend them. Especially a non-toxic citrus based one, like the one from One Ball Jay. Most times, unless you're riding really dirty snow, you won't need it.
It depends on the wax. The softer "warmer" waxes, use a lower temperature (around 110°C), and the harder "colder" wax (including all-temp wax), use a higher temperature (around 130°C). If the wax is smoking, the iron is too hot.
Great video! Love the dog cameo.
Nice! Once I get my body fixed up I’m planning on trying out purl wax next season
You should!
The savings isn't immediate though. Once you get your return in investment from buying the equipment, and the wax(es), then you start saving money
Great video! But more importantly, where did you get a Yonex board!? I haven't found one place that sells them in the U.S.
@tommiebennett can let you know!
Thoughts on using base cleaner?
We recommend using a non toxic base cleaner that won't dry out your base ( we make one too!)- or doing a quick hot scrape.

I notice two temps on the Iron at different times, whats a good temp to run the Iron?
220
Whatever the wax packaging reccomends is where to start, then adjust slowly from there.
Whatever temps doesn’t make your wax smoke up and lets it apply to your board.
