It all depends on the person and the people around them. Most important thing is that when someone wants to improve then it's important to at least allow them to. Stopping them from improving just so you can look down on them just so you can make yourself feel better isn't helping anyone and you're the problem in that situation.

That’s something that no one will ever understand. Sex offenders who don’t change with no remorse need a bullet to the head. But the ones who are trying to change need a second chance. Imagine trying to better yourself with a fucked up reputation like that and no one allowing you to... that’s never gonna solve anything

Don't hate, find forgiveness and help them recover, I'm also a victim of sex abuse, physical abuse, and mental abuse. I wanted to die, I hated everyone around me, I hated smiles, happy people, everyone was a monster to me. I read an article about someone who was killed by regular college students, who hated a transgender. That person made me see that hate it's a cycle of murder, a cycle that never ends. Forgiveness was the key to change, help those in need, and help them. I am a victim of a triple crime, 3 times the pain, 3 times I was killed, but I came back to live and make a change for those in need, I learned to forgive!!

I really hope one day the people in these comments can see that grabbing their pitchforks and calling for the death or castration of people is just going to lead to more children being abused and this cycle repeating.
We need to have support for people with these thoughts to go to before they cross that line of downloading these images or committing horrific acts, otherwise they'll just be unable to control themselves and do something horrible, but you can't punish someone just for having the thoughts, especially when they have often been victims of child abuse themselves.

Honestly the register, the hate and them being essentially cast out of society probably makes them more dangerous. If someone is told they're pure evil by everyone and is never given a chance to change then they probably will just embrace that evil and continue their crimes. Its one of those "if everyone thinks you're a monster then you might as well be one" kind of things.
There are many who make mistakes, whether they be big or small and learn from it, feel ashamed etc. However. Some of them are genuinely evil, we all know the ones. The types that documentaries and true crime videos are made about.

I feel like if people truly want to change and change their life around from doing those things, then we should atleast give them a second chance to improve. Second chances are powerful and in the hands of a person who truly utilises it can bear great fruit.
most of the time its talking about the victims of the offense who were harmed and that's right and all but nobody's really thinking about the the ones who did the crime and if they can or should be given a chance to change

I saw a documentary about this by the bbc a few years back and they talked with a non-offending pedophile as well as a neuroscientist studying pedophilia and both indicated that it is a trait developed prior to birth and develops no differently than heterosexuality or homosexuality and the scientist suggested that the primary factor in preventing them from offending is early intervention and long term treatment. This was backed up by the other mans personal experience and wish. To be able to be treated for a condition he does not want to have without being criminalized for losing the biological lottery.
The expert consensus according to that documentary seems to indicate that unless these people feel comfortable seeking help and we as a society get better at identifying it, it is more likely than not that they will go on to harm a child

It's a difficult discussion, but imperative. Sex offenders bring out a rage in me that nothing and no one else can, but I remind myself that such people are genuinely, mentally sick, and if we want to prevent them from hurting more ppl - and other animals - we must find ways to help them. I commend the woman in this video for trying to understand them despite her sad history. I don't think I could have met up with the "changed" man. I probably would have had an anxiety attack.

We need mental health treatment available for those attracted to children. They need to be able receive treatment BEFORE they commit offences. We need to stop dealing with them after the fact.
We're so focused and blinded by the hatred of them, nobody wants to take that step and invest in those services because it's viewed as sympathising or showing compassion to those who we feel don't deserve anything other than a bullet.

Why is sex offense something so terrible that it is beyond forgiveness? People forgive and understand every other criminal offense and mental illness, why not sex offense? Certain disorders like BPD and APD cause serious irrational and illogical behaviors such as unhealthy sexual habits. If sex offenders get therapy and counseling why not give them a second chance? It doesnt matter who they are or what they did, everyone if deserves a second chance. We have all hurt someone at some point in our life. Its up to the indiito change but they need support if they allow it and want it. Outcasting them and shuning them only makes them feel like there is notl point to changing and thats were the problem is. Let them have room in society and prove to themselves that they can change. Some people are monsters but most its a mental illness. And like all mental illnesses it can be cured with hard work ajd dedication and support. If you dont give these people atleast a chance than your just asking for them to re offend and that makes you the monster. Not everyone has a easy life. Alot of us are sex offenders and dont realize it. Its not black and white. If you have a fetish or you look at someone and start feeling sexual or anything like that its normal but wrong at the same time. People that are attracted to kids is the same thing in their mind, its normal to them and no one knows where the thoughts emerged. But afterwards if they want to change then give them a chance to change. Stop locking the door. God believes in second chances and forgiveness why cant you, its only satans temptation. And satan has control of you to want to outcast these people. Everyone can change if allowed to. But you cant expect someone with no hands or legs to open the door and walk the hallway if you dont help them open the door first.

    • @randomname1924
      @randomname1924 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

The thing, if it’s indeed caused by trauma, then they probably don’t see much wrong with what they are doing (at least in cases involving illegal pornography).
Others might just be so traumatized or sick that they don’t really care about hurting others since maybe they were / felt hurt like that, or others may *know* completely that their thoughts are harmful, but lack of mental help / therapy affordability alongside with (external factors) will probably make them snap at some point (e.g; pedophiles). We as a society have to understand that sex offenders are a diverse group with different motivations / mentalities, and that they are humans too, even if we don’t want to see them that way because they have a different thought process / conditions than the norm.
In any case, even if you decide not to care for them, it’s in society’s benefit to rehabilitate them in order to avoid more offenses AND get more contributing members into society, and also to develop and research techniques and methods to treat juvenile or potential offenders in order to avoid victims in the first place.

    • @MohamedElGoharyy

I get where you are coming from. But this kind of avoidant attitude will only make matters worse and may increase the frequency of committed offenses.

It’s really not as easy as that, though. People do all sorts of things knowing it’s wrong and then feel guilty afterwards. The very dangerous ones are incapable of guilt but that’s a small minority of them. If it really was as simple as that we wouldn’t have people who do things like this.
