    When i told my girlfriend i had OSDD-1b, i tried to explain to her and she said "I know, I've seen Split". she's becoming more educated now, but that was a big yikes.

      I believe my girlfriend has (undiagnosed) DID and I think she internalized these bad stereotypes. I don't think she (the host, with whom I'm in a relationship) has ever seen Split, but I know she knows Danganronpa and Total Drama, where in both cases there's a character with DID. In the case of Danganronpa, that was, of course, the problematic "two faced murderer" stereotype, but as for Mike from Total Drama, I'm not quite sure since I haven't watched whatever season they're in.

    I often hear "Your trauma isn't bad enough to cause osdd" or "The same thing happened to me and I'm fine"
    I hate these statements with a burning passion, cause obviously my trauma was bad enough to cause osdd, cause here we are. Any repeated trauma can cause DID/OSDD, cause like you said, everyone's brains react differently. No should have to feel invalidated cause their trauma "Isn't bad enough"
    Edit!: SPLIT. I. HATE. IT.
    I hate when people go "oh that's from the movie Split!" NO. Us as a system recently watched Split so we could confirm how horrible it is. Spoiler alert, it was confirmed. We decided to make a video reacting to it so we could spread awareness about just how wrong it is. That video is currently being edited

      true but what if its comign from myself like that feel when you keep beleiving you couldnt possibly have it cuz only some of the alters even remember the trauma clearly LMAO and then they front and ur like oh wait yup yup

      Yes i feel that statement very deeply. I not only have been told that im whiny and my life is (and was) too good to be worth complaining about or having trauma...although like you said "here we are" Which in my case means several everydaylife trauma and OSDD with social phobia and anxiety that without OSDD would enable me to live my life... And still i basically have to argue with people that what I felt was invalid...
      So thank you for your comment!
      Also sadly even my therapist mentioned that he is suprirsed i have all the signs for DID (without amnesia) when my trauma didnt include the typical abuse. And he did settle with "emotional abuse and health related issues seemed to have been sufficient in your case" but i definitelly felt guilty when talking to him, because i felt like i didnt deserve to have DID by what he was implying. Thanks to this channel i think that OSDD might have been the descrption he was looking for.
      its not easy to feel like "my pain wasnt bad enough" through what should be a healing process

      Split made people with DID/OSDD look like monsters, and we are NOT anything like that. I feel like someone should create a movie with someone that has DID/OSDD as the protagonist rather than the antagonist. I hate when people say that, it's so annoying and it makes me angry

      @@hannahwhitman9876 It did, We saw that movie a long time ago, it's a horrible representation of the disorder, when we tell people we trust that we have DID they sometimes go "Oh, so you're evil, like the guy in split", We're like nah, It's just offensive to have a disorder degraded when a bunch of people have it

    I thought my alters were just imaginary friends I created in my head when I was a child. And I thought I was just weird because I always would talk to my "friends" in my head whenever I was really stressed out. This continued even after I was an adult. It wasn't until I experienced an apartment fire that I had a complete break down and was diagnosis as dissociative did I realize they were actually real. I just thought they were my "fake" friends I had created to help me deal with hard stuff. It is still hard for me to accept my alters are real because for so long i just thought they were imaginary friends that carried over from my childhood. But after the fire I started switching a lot and it affected my job. And one of my alters is a very young child and would keep coming forward while I was at work, and I work with accounting logs, and whenever she came forward I was suddenly unable to do even basic math, and it got really bad there and I had to take several months off work. So if you are experiencing things seek help, don't wait like me until you have a major traumatic episode before you deal with it. It almost cost me my job.

    I'm really glad you explained this! Sadly I can't really show it to the people I want because nobody wants to believe I was neglected or I've experienced trauma. I don't know if I have OSDD (I'm pretty sure I don't have DID) but this at least helps everybody around me understand these myths.

    I've recently made friends with a few people with DID so I figure it's a good idea to look into what is and isn't true about the disorder in order to properly respect them and any future systems I may meet. As someone with autism, I know personally that mental health disorders tend to be riddled with stereotypes and misconceptions even to this day.

    I, the host, am autistic (and got bullied for it, so I guess thats our trauma?) but some of the alters show absolutely NO sign of it (it's their role I guess, they help me to function in a neurotypical world) and when I didn't know I had autism/osdd, I thought I was just having real bad social anxiety that just acted up some days. It was so confusing 🙈

    love this video! :D I have always worried my trauma isn't enough and that it wasn't that bad becuz I wasn't beat every day or went thru CSA. this video was really validating especially after yesterday when our DID "friend" called us a malingerer(someone who fakes illness to get out of work) and said we were faking DID and that we didn't have childhood trauma. it was incredibly invalidating especially coming from someone we thought was our friend for like 2 years. we know we went thru a lot of medical trauma due to surgeries starting at 8-10 months old and still into adulthood (lots of physical and mental disabilities born with). as well as chronic invalidation (therapist said it counted as trauma) some physical abuse from child daycare people and a little bit from dad as well verbal and emotional abuse from basically everyone our entire lives. I didn't discover any alters til I was 16-17 years old and wasn't diagnosed til about 18 years old after an incident at school and some testing. but yea really like your videos!

      I can kinda relate to you. I’m no adult yet and far from being diagnosed but I would not be surprised is a bunch of invalidation has to do with it. I got some pretty annoying depression stuff I’ve also been dealing with for years cause of it so it wouldn’t be surprising. 😅
      (Edit) my best friend also instantly denied I had any kind of did or osdd and said the its not really and man did that make me feel worst.

    I've been having trouble bringing up to my grandmother that I most likely have OSDD-1b (the only reason I don't say I do is that I don't want to jump to conclusions as I'm not a professional), and she said a bunch of stuff trying to deny it such as "you don't act any different" (even though she hardly is around me all day at all). It's been eating at me all day and I was at the point in which I almost believed her because of my anxiety and all the stress and panic that came from a lack of actual support. Watching this video eased my conscious. Thank you for your content so much.

    Sooo.. Kinda weird kinda looking for advice... Basically this morning someone on tumblr asked if I was a system bc of the way I talk about my brain. I initially said no bc I was only familiar with DID and I don't have dissociative amnesia. They said I should look into OSDD though.. And I'm thinking of looking into diagnosis. I'm 16, and more recently I started to notice these vague things I've just been calling "episodes" where I just like,,, change and afterwards it's like that's not really me.. I couldn't imitate it bc in that state I'd do stuff I normally wouldn't do. I've also always felt like my thoughts were usually a conversation between 2 people, and occasionally when it was only one voice its really confusing and I miss the other a lot, it makes it hard to focus. I've always struggled to represent myself as one character when drawing and stuff. Anyways I obviously did look up OSDD and it clicked a lot but my case also feels kinda different from most. For the most part it feels like there's only 2 alters and most of the time they're co conscious, generally with one fronting while the other just kinda chills. There's at least one more that I think is a seperate alter that only comes around in those extreme stress "episodes". Anywayyyys idk I was just wondering if that sounds plausible or if it sounds like something else :)

    • @TheRingsSystem
      @TheRingsSystem  5 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      I'm not a therapist and don't know you so I cannot diagnose you, but I do resonate with your descriptions as a community member from my own personal experience. I'd say it's plausible, but it's up to you (and any therapists you end up with) to make that decision! :)

    to add onto your last point about osdd-1b... with osdd-1a, the parts are much less differentiated (I believe they're called fragments rather than alters, but don't take my word for it). just in case anyone wanted to know.
    ANYWAY thank you for this video! as someone with osdd-1b, it's nice to see it actually get mentioned/talked about online, as it's not brought up very often in comparison to DID.

    Regarding inner worlds: I've heard some people say they like doing stuff in their inner world so do alters remember what they've been doing in the inner world when they come forward? Also if you dont have an inner world to begin with, what do the alters do in there if they aren't near the front?

    • @TheRingsSystem
      @TheRingsSystem  4 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      Sometimes alters can remember, sometimes they can't! We don't ever really remember innerworld stuff while fronting, but we have friends who can. If you don't have an inner world, you just kinda... exist? Hope that helps ❤️

  • @TeliciaHixson
    @TeliciaHixson 5 ปีที่แล้ว +46

    How can a system build an inner world? At what point does an alter become aware of the inner world and how does that work? Does being in the inner world feel like vivid dreaming? Also, in cases where someone with DID/OSDD doesn't find out about their disorder until adulthood, do their alters know that they are part of a system and just hide it from the host? Or does each alter think they are the host and don't realize they're part of the system?

    • @TheRingsSystem
      @TheRingsSystem  5 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Hi! I’m planning on making a whole video about inner worlds, and another about building one (as we have!)
      My alters knew we were a system before I (the host) did, but it really varies system by system. Sometimes new alters split with no idea about the system, and sometimes they come already knowing!

    Thank you so much for this video, especially the not judging people for whether they're fake
    I've seen a lot of exclusionary behaviour from some others in communities, even some systems laughing at others over how they identify, and I always think that this seems incredibly damaging, especially if you don't know what that person has been through - so having that comment said is really helpful. You can't tell whether another person is fake or not because you can't possibly know what their own experience is unless they detail it out for you
    So, thanks, this was really great and hopefully is enlightening and educational for others - Frey of the Locke system

    We have two alters who are dating. Its very cute tbh.
    Edit: We had an integration that happened overnight. It was painful for everyone and we weren't prepared for it. Our therapist seems to agree it happened and is real. I'm very curious as to why you think it cant happen spontaneously.
    Edit2: unless by spontaneously you mean within seconds. Bc it definately didn't take months or even days but it definately took hours. I am the result of that integration. And Dani did not want to integrate even though Wander did.....idk its just our experience. 🍀

    • @TheRingsSystem
      @TheRingsSystem  5 ปีที่แล้ว +20

      Hello!
      To answer the question, I meant spontaneously as in "no therapy work and/or no trauma processing." I should've clarified! It does happen that in the process of therapy and trauma processing that alters can integrate rather suddenly and unexpectedly as part of the process.
      I hope that helps clear things up! Please let me know if this still doesn't line up, good research is based on the experience of those who have DID/OSDD and if it conflicts then it's always the research that's in the wrong and needs correction :)

    • @thevoyagesystem
      @thevoyagesystem 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      @@TheRingsSystem Well. Idk. We arent aiming for integration as a goal. It just sorta happened. It was like he didnt want to exist anymore. We all got in a huge fight and then that night it happened before we were ready. He was a fictive if that helps anything and possibly an ep but our sysmates dont fit those boxes very well. Dani was our host.
      He didnt really hold any trauma from this life. Just his own.
      Im also beginning to wonder if I instead just split off Dani as they and wander both went dormant. This is our first conscious integration so we are very confused about the whole thing. 🍀

    • @thevoyagesystem
      @thevoyagesystem 5 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Ok I did a deep dive into research and honestly I think Wander tricked us. Because I dont hold any memories from him. Apparently him tricking us was enough to break me off and make dani go dormant? And I guess I'm just the new host now? God why did he have to do this??
      On the other hand, maybe they did integrate and I'm just the part of Dani who didn't want to integrate....??? Hhhhhhhhh 🍀

    Thank you so much for this video and your other videos. They have really helped me come to terms with what I believe I may be going through in regards to most likely having OSDD 1-b. Your videos always help me feel validated when I think "I'm faking" or, "I'm making up these memories or flashbacks," or just that I'm totally crazy haha. So thank you, I really appreciate your videos and think you guys are truly wonderful people. I'm really glad you cleared up these misconceptions. I even had some of these myself. Having the wrong information would make me feel less valid and that somehow I'm "doing it wrong". I know I'm not "doing" anything, but I often feel in denial (pretty new to all of this). It's really important that the truth is out there and it's great that you cleared up these misconceptions. Also, Split is honestly a huge let down. I remember when it came out I was excited to see a movie about DID but ended up very disappointed, even more so when I learned more about DID.

    Hm. Writing a story that involves a "system" and- I'm surprised I got a lot right. Raven and Jessica are their own people, check, they have an inner world that they had to create over time, check, sometimes fronting is voluntary, sometimes not, check, different desires and experiences, check (she is a mutant in the story so this amounts to different abilities because they have different training)- yes there is an inner struggle, but it's not because one is evil, they just have different enough views of the world that they have to fight it out. I guess the "hero" of the story is Jessica, who isn't the first personality, per say, but she does become more dominant. Jessica split off at the physical age of four so that's probably a tad wonky, but it was trauma related.
    (In story the two alters are not psychology experts so yes, they themselves are often not aware of what is or can happen. For instance, when getting ready to leave their prison (hence the trauma) Raven becomes afraid Jessica will die when their mind no longer has a reason to fracture and make her- doesn't happen, but there's no way Raven could have understood it wasn't a possibility.
    It's scifi fantasy so, no, its not fully accurate- as ya know- narrative purpose doesn't exist in the real world at all so- anything dependent on it doesn't either. Fiction and reality are ALWAYS different. But I did start out with the idea of wanting people to care about both "alters" and ended up creating a decent replication of reality- hm.

    i've watching your videos for a month now after discovering i'm plural a few months ago during a weed trip. recently, these past weeks have been more clarified with me being a system. while having some doubts/denials here and there... this video has actually,, helped a lot with what i dealt with my entire life. i still feel like i'm progressing my knowledge of my members and overall system, but i have dealt with repeated emotional abuse at 8-9 years old that ended around 15, as well as a disturbing memory i can't for the life of me remember what happened. i've already been born with genetic autism, adhd and bpd, as well as anxiety and depression. being 21 now,,, discovering that i have 12 members of our system, our ways of coping with switching/how our brain works. all that. wow. thank you so much for creating the videos that you do Rings System

    Hey
    I‘m from Switzerland. I suffer from mental illness issues since I was 6 or 7. I‘m 24 now. I got so many diagnoses which even are contradictory to each other. A few years ago i discovered Stories from DID Systems. I knew I don‘t have it, cause I‘m missing sone severe key symptoms. two Weeks ago I discoverd your Channel and startet researching about osdd-1b and was blown away. I could releat to so much!
    But i will never finde Out if i have it becaus its just not a thing in Switzerland. We don‘t use the DSM 5 we use the ICD 10 and nothing in there speaks about osdd. I wish i could travle to Amarica to meat an osdd/did specialised Psychiatrist to see if it would be an answer to me. I don‘t want to selfdiagnose me. Because I think selfe diagnosing can be very dangerous. I just wish I could talk with someone who is an expert in this feld. (sorry for my bad english)

    Thank you for your kind and educational videos, Ring System. You make the impression of a really inclusive, open group and that's why I enjoy watching your videos! I myself am relatively new to the plural community and am thinking about possibly being plural myself. I was thinking that since I was 6, honestly, and my main persona fronted the first time when I was at my new elementary school and felt safe for the very first time, but yeah, that's a whole other story. What I realized though, when I was crusading through the plural community, was, how extraordinarily DID-heavy those communities were and I didn't really feel welcome or valid enough to be part of all that. However, I believe your community is pretty chill, so I'd like to share an experience, and maybe there are other people who can relate to me, who knows, so. I always thought I didn't have amnesia during "those" episodes, when I was a child, but now, I'm slowly questioning whether I do have amnesia, because I can very hardly remember some parts of my life and when some snippets come through, it's often very irritating for me either that, or it was during my flashback episodes and after that, the memories fade again. But somehow, I still roughly knew what happened, I just couldn't remember. It's comparable with the fact that I knew what happened in WWII, all the details, even what happened in the camps, and when I was visiting a camp in Germany, I knew what historically happened but obviously, I don't have the memories of those victims and survivors. And that's the same with some stuff that happened throughout my life. I factually knew what happened roughly, but it felt like textbook knowledge, but the emotionally charged memories weren't there. Does anyone know, what I mean or am I the only one, haha? And well, yapped enough, so I hope you have a good day. Signing out!

    Great list, thank you! She good info on there. There's one though that I'd like to clarify a little. Integration isn't spontaneous per se, but it can feel that way, because it can happen unconsciously. Basically, you've all been doing the work to set up that integration without realizing that's what's going to result. For example, it's possible to integrate before you really understand what's going on or have a diagnosis or words to describe being multiple. That being said, it will requires certain changes (just like when a new alter forms), so it isn't just random or for no reason.

Is it ok to not realize you may be a system until later in life? I am so glad for this video, because I've had a lot of misconceptions and over time I've been dispelling them by educating myself. I was told a lot of complete BS as a brainwashed child about different disorders and experiences, and it's been amazing to relearn everything and be like, hey, these are actually very normal people and not whatever I imagined them to be. Last week I got on a dissociative disorder kick I guess - I enjoy topics in psychology, super interesting stuff. I'm still wary of the idea of dissociation, but since I was diagnosed with cptsd, I probably experience it and just don't identify with the usual descriptions of dissociation. But that's besides the point, the point is, great video! I'll subscribe. Edit: was already subscribed, lol I guess I forgot XD

    I'm a questioning system. I'm leaning towards OSDD1B, but I'm not sure yet. I first discovered my system at the age of 10, back when I thought that they were just voices in my head. I even used the voices for roleplays. In 2020, I discovered three of my alters upon hearing a friend talk about their system discovery, but then began denying because of the rise of TikTok faking and seeing people rip them apart by explaining that my symptoms weren’t actually DID. This year, I rediscovered the system and this video is helping me fight back the urge to supress them. I do try to hide it in school, though.
    I am curious, is it possible to be covert AND overt depending on where you are?

    A question or two:
    Is the inner world something that the system chooses to create (such as they choose what it looks like, mansion vs apartment, etc)
    How do you feel others should react when someone tells them about their disorder. Obviously there's the want to be open and understanding, but are there any specifics anyone knows of to try and follow?

      1. It actually varies. Some systems come with an inner world and can't change it, and others built it themselves and get to design it! And, some systems (this is us) come with one but build another anyways for whatever reason.
      2. Probably just a "thanks for telling me. Is there anything I need to know or do in order to best support you?" I always recommend research, but you're already here so you're doing a great job in that category! :)

    So glad that we found your channel! We have a question about trauma related things. Could one big single event that happens when someone is young, (along with ‘smaller’ traumatic experiences such as emotional abuse (and btw we don’t want to diminish the horridness of any form of abuse, this is just what we’ve experienced)) pave the way to DID/OSDD? We’re led to believe that our Original (who barely speaks anymore because of their desire to disappear) suffers from Abandonment issues because they (and therefore the rest of us) were abandoned and then adopted at a very very young age.We think it’s possible that they created the rest of us gradually because of that and other trauma/severe bullying. We’d appreciate it if you could get back to us! Thank you~ - The Rogue System

    • @TheRingsSystem
      @TheRingsSystem  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Repetitive trauma that the brain is unable to handle is what causes DID/OSDD (even things generally thought of as 'smaller trauma' like emotional abuse/neglect). There's no line that determines what is or isn't enough to cause DID/OSDD, as it all depends on each individual. I'm not a professional, so determining how your trauma interacted with your brain and the impacts of that are best known between you and a therapist :)

    • @TheRingsSystem
      @TheRingsSystem  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      It actually still holds - if you're doing a lot of trauma processing on both ends, and alters have put in a lot of work towards healing, it's possible for alters to be able to quickly and rather unexpectedly integrate. Integration might also have been something the alters in question have been quietly working towards, without talking to the rest of the system about it :)

Can there be a case that due to change in the system or an external trigger, the part that this far existed with little to no agency all of a sudden takes over the executive system and body and takes the place of the host?

But these "phases" (of fronting) could last for a year, so I don't know if that's possible (other alters would then be dormant, I guess)?

    can trauma form at age 10? bc i remember severe cyber bullying at age 10 and wonder if that counts, or if maybe some other kind of trauma happened at a younger age. i do suspect i may be a css victim and not remember?? idk if i have bpd or osdd. or both heck. ive always been fascinated by did and found it relateable but assumed i didnt have it so now im like aaaa??? the only "identity" im really aware of is a fictive, which is why i assumed he formed from bpd or something and wasnt an alter, but something else, but after speaking to my friend with did im unsure :') we're pretty similar to each other, at least i think we are?? and he's also my favorite character which is also why i assUMED ITS NOT AN ALTER BUT NOW I DONT KNOW AND THE MORE I RESEARCH OSDD AND DID THE MORE I RELATE AND THINGS START TO MAKE SENSE HECK. whenever i discover a new disorder that fits me i kinda obsess over it so im gonna try my best to lay off but i have adhd so that probably wont happen lol.
    if i do have osdd i think i have a little?? idk anything about them but they seem to have come out sometimes when i went to therapy, and sometimes after mental breakdowns. it also seems like if i do have alters theyre usually if not always coconscious?
    i definitely went through a lot of trauma as a tween and its around that time i got into the tv show this potential fictive is from, so... that makes sense. but can a fictive even be a main alter? how do you even become aware of other alters? and is it a thing for people with alters to always feel as if theyre being watched and judged by... someone? or is that just a paranoia thing from some other disorder of mine?
    this potential fictive also definitely isnt the exact same as the fictional character hes based off of and has a kind of separate sense of self?? just to clarify i guess. man discovering i might not be a "singlet" is concerning but it also explains my indecisiviness and fluctuating everything, and my confusion with my gender and sexuality lol
    anyway sorry for rambling if you read this askskkfkf

At the end of the day I can't tell you anything about whether your trauma is valid or not - but it also doesn't quite matter. You don't need to know what caused DID/OSDD to be valid (we talk about this in a recent video about not remembering your trauma) so I'd just focus on what you're experiencing now, seeing a therapist if you can, and figuring out what helps you(rselves) live a better daily life ❤️❤️

    I hid my computer from my mom for 4 years ever since 9 that I was chatting online. My computer screen was turned so everyone could see I always had to watch over my shoulder when I was distracted by a game which was really stressful. Could this cause OSDD-1b or can repetitive seizures ever since I was 3 cause OSDD-1b? I do feel like there is other people in my head and I do have "switches" and after I come back, I feel there was someone else with different styles, gender, different likes and dislikes in my head.
    If it is not OSDD-1b then what is it? I do have split personalities, I do have voices in my head that I can talk with, I do have dissociations, I do have mixed feelings sometimes like someone else dislikes it, I do like we instead of I, I do have blending situations, I do have a very fluid sexuality, and when I go back to my normal self I know that was not me doing those things, liking those things, and saying those things.

      We have another video on types of trauma that cause DID: and spoiler alert, anything can. Trauma severity is not defined by “what happened” and is defined by how it impacted you - which is influenced by how you were supported, and whether you were in a safe environment to process it. Trauma is trauma because of it’s emotional impact, not the “what” of “what happened.” As always, there’s a possibility that there’s stuff you don’t remember (there's also another video on not needing to remember your trauma to be valid!) but please please don’t go digging for it. It’s dangerous to look for trauma without a therapist. You to have to experienced trauma to have DID/OSDD specifically, but it’s totally valid to have absolutely 0 memories of it.
      Our advice is to not focus on this stuff, and what might've "caused" it. Whatever happened or didn’t happen in the past is what it is - BUT, you still have the same symptoms you’re experiencing now. Figuring out your past, or whether it’s “bad enough” doesn’t change what you’re experiencing NOW - so focus on that. Focus on finding coping mechanisms that work to help you get through the day. Focus on taking lots of notes! There’s a reason why dealing with trauma is phase two, often years into DID/OSDD therapy. Don’t worry about it right now ❤️

    I dunno where I'm going with this. The fact that it has to be before 6-9 and the only really traumatic thing I can remember happening in my childhood lasted from about 10-14, but yet the 8 of us exist is... Worrying. Hiya!
      Please be really careful with trying to uncover traumatic memories. Going digging without professional help can be dangerous in multiple different ways.
      Healing is also a non-linear journey - it's never that you do one thing and ta-da! you're healed and good. There's plenty of things you can work on outside of/before you get to severe trauma uncovering/processing.

    The term system bothers me because the word system to me implies inanimate things like fuel system or computer system ....you are human being far superior to inanimate systems, Another term that bothers me is host. In biology class I was taught parasites have a host that they feed off of. My understanding of alters is that they help rather than feed off or take away from the host.If this comment is ignorant I apologize.

    • @TheRingsSystem
      @TheRingsSystem  5 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      Hello!
      hopefully I can explain a bit. these terms have been in the community for a long time and have become very meaningful!
      1. While the word system does tend to give off that feel at first glance because inanimate systems are most well known, there are organic systems by nature too - such as an ecosystem or the digestive system. Really, system implies a collection of parts that all function together as a whole, and all have their place and role in making sure the everything runs smoothly. The dictionary definition is "a set of things working together as parts of a mechanism or an interconnecting network," and that's exactly what we are - Just like an ecosystem, we all have our roles in the system community - and if any part was artificially taken away, it would damage the health of the whole. [not that an alter can be artificially taken away, but you get the idea]
      2. Host is used in a lot of settings, and the analogy actually came from a human setting - such as the host of a party, or the host of a radio show. Both have very social connotations, and being in that role takes a lot of work - and feels similar to how alters in the role of host sometimes feel! Host are usually very social alters and have to balance multiple aspects of daily life. While there are alternatives such as "main fronter" or "front runner," host is by far most commonly used and personally my favorite.
      Hope that helps :)
