Since you didn't use a base coat clear coat paint (used a single stage paint?) you could have gone with Rustoleum. It runs about 35$ per gallon and offers lots of colors. Makes touch up really easy as well. It's what I'm using on Project Bumble Jeep (with a twist) I will be adding clear coat to mine at some point. It's also allowing me to paint the Jeep in stages as I get time. Looks great though. God bless and stay well.

Dale great work! I have painted several Jeeps over the years and always cool to see how much of a change a paint job does to the Jeep. I could not see your compressor setup, but one recommendation is to use a water/moisture separator. It helps prevents crystallization type spots like you got on the hood (little dots). Another tip to deal with the flying paint dust is to have the floor moist or wet, or at a minimum put some water containers around as they help trap some of the dust.
One other suggestion is that you align all of the body work before the paint (looked like your door gaps may be a bit off on the video)
All in all excellent work and you made it look easy, the prep work is the brutal part :D

Nice job , the hood spots are "fisheye's " I'll echo one of the other comments "use a water/moisture separator."

I used tractor paint on my jeep! Tractor supply sold me a gallon of paint really cheap. Still holds up well almost 2 years later.

Man that's so close to one of my favorite colors Mack truck orange. At least that is what my dad called it when he painted all of my bedroom furniture with it lol shure brings back memories

Wow! You are a courageous DIY guy tackling that paint job. $200 bucks just for the gallon of paint, not to mention the cost of compressor, spray gun, supplies to do the prep, sanding, protecting the garage. You are a Dynamo of energy. I need to drink your coffee brand.

Nice work as well as testing the water for us newbies. I'm sitting here in front of my 1995 YJ scraping off Monstaliner. Got the new color car paint in yesterday. Thankfully, as a disabled veteran, I can rent a paint booth for $26 a day at the local military base auto skills shop. Otherwise I would have to deal with good old Florida sugar sand that gets everywhere.

Looks awesom Dale! The fish eyes are usually caused by wax, grease, or some other contaminates. Usually it is caused by someone touching the panel with bare hands and not cleaning it completely. Looks great and can't wait to see it complete!

Looks great! Next time, an old trick is to wet your garage floor. It traps dust and your paint will be cleaner in the end. I would have went with forest green, but your other YJ is green so Orange is a good choice. I agree it will look great with black accents, especially black rims!

Perfect timing for a new name - Project Jack-o'-lantern. 😄. Jeep looks great, on your mixing cup if you skip one of those lines the ratio for the last component will be off since each line is dependent on the volume from the previous component.

Hey Dale . My name is Tim, you don't know me but I'm person that if you may recall several months back when you were working on your jeep you had maken a mistake and put your intake gasket on backwards and I noticed it and left you a comment about it , in the comments it said from Francis , that was because I was using Francis's phone because my phone was broken at the time. Any how . I want to congratulate you on your victory of the paint job , it looks nice . as for the hood well you win em all buddy. My brother and my uncle used to do all their own body work and paint when I was growing up , and one of the things I learned from that is when you paint anything you are much better off to have it laying flat , especially something as large as your Jeep hood. so when you respray it put it on a couple of saw horses or a table , and you should get a much better outcome the next time. keep up the good work man , and don't feel so bad about that hood , just remember experience is the best teacher . Tim from Wisconsin.
