    Definitely use copper anti seize up here in the north to be able to adjust alignment in the future up here in the north.
    Great video!

      BIG HELL YA, I use Anti Seize on EVERYTHING here in PA. freggin road salt kills the underside + on your ride. Also when removing the tie rod ends or steering stabilizer, don't hit the threaded end, hit the part it goes into to break it lose. I usually spray the living crap out of everything & give it a smack with a hammer a few days before if I can before working on vehicles.

  • @jackcollins2344
    @jackcollins2344 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are lucky your tie rod bar has enough clearance that it drops down enough before it makes contact with the leaf springs to remove it. I have a 1962 jeep Willys pickup that I had to also drop leaf springs to have enough clearance to remove tie rod ends.

    What is the correct torque spec on the end at knuckles? 35 ft-lb or 55 ft-lb? I cannot find any correct answer to this.

    is there any good reason that manufacturers make the passenger side tierod end/drag link one piece so when the joint wears out it costs in excess of 100$ instead of 15$? doesnt seem to have any benefit could just as easily be a threaded connected

    That stud on the steering damper is a cheap after market replacement. That's why it stripped the threads off. Made from too soft of steel

    Dale!!!... What grease are you using on those ball joints and are you using the same type on the u-joints as well??? My research points me to just generic lithium grease... What say you?
    You always seem to know what projects I need to do on my YJ...lol... I noticed that my ball joint boots were torn as wel. I took them off and they were still well greased cuz I do it often, especially after off-roading... They were still pretty stiff, I just replaced the boots...but I know this will have to be done soon... Thinking of beefing up my steering gear... I Already beefed up the Steering gear box with the heavier duty '98 Druango mod...

      Haha! Sounds like were on the same schedule. This grease was nothing fancy. Just high temp multi purpose

  • @DaveTurnerBassGuitar

    what kind of grease did you use, and did you put anti-seize on all of the threads?

    • @JeepSolid
      @JeepSolid  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just used a multipurpose high temp grease. Nothing special. I didn't use anti seize, but should have. I'll update the video with that tip. Thx!

      Yes, ball joints should be done as well.
      I think ear protection was from beating rods out. Metal on metal sure echos in my shop... 😁
