    The Entertainment Software Association represents the "AAA" game industry's interests in the US, and that alone qualifies it for side-eyes. Its recent pitch for E3 2020, however, is stunning in its awfulness.
    So let's discuss the ESA and why the increasingly irrelevant E3 is set to become downright dreadful in the future.

    Wow, the comments didn't immediately fill up with "I miss the old logo" which is how you *know* a change succeeded. Justin killed it on the new logo, and I have some classy (read: delightfully garish) pink aviators and a tie coming. Probably keeping the hat for now, because it's awesome. The intro music isn't new or altered, but Justin used a different chorus (previous intro used the last chorus, this uses an earlier one), so that's why it sounds a bit different. I'll either record a podcast or put an article up discussing the aesthetic alterations, but the short story is that this is just more "me." Hot pinks and purples have always been my thing, as anyone can testify if they've seen the color schemes I often go for in a videogame's character creator.

    Keanu Reeves also worked because he was involved in the game and appears to be quite taken with the whole game too, not merely appearing in it, actually enjoying it as much as he would if it were a pet project of his own. There are a few people, that developer woman who recently left would be one example, of people who are involved in a game (or a game company) and seem to actually love working there and excited about what they are talking about (and, just as importantly, not talking about things if they aren't genuinely loving it). Yup, there are actual elements of 1984 in how the industry goes about business. They hide the truth and obscure it from parents, and authorities, just keeping it between the abused and the abuser. This is their little secret, make it all glitzy and innocent-looking, while they touch us in places we don't really want them touching us in, but they do it even so. "Change the appearance of your character, yay!" (for the same price of the game).- In fact, charging money to do something that used to be part of the game cosmetic experience for free is pretty much r4pe.

    Hey, Jim. I dig your new purple logo, but--and I say this by way of constructive criticism--I find your new flickering backgrounds to be really hard on the eyes (i.e. causing eyestrain to the point where I need to look away from the screen) by comparison to the static backgrounds in previous episodes of the Jimquisition. Just my two cents, though. Keep up the great work on the show, good sir!

On the very day of the SOPA blackout, ICE (the US law enforcement agency) raided Kim Dotcom's home in New Zealand without any jurisdiction or suspicion of crime, but because the RIAA and MPAA _hired ICE to do so._ MEGAupload was killed (causing a terrible hit in the cloud-storage / cyberlocker industries nationwide). Extradition to the US failed. No charges have stuck. It's still in process to this day, eight years later.

    Psychologists who work in advertising and public relations are evil.

    • @CBonduMiel
      @CBonduMiel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Only if they want to. Usually psychologues are required to establish what kind of player a product is targetting. For exemple, you wouldn't make a ui for a kids game which has a lot of complicated menus and a lot of option the kid wouldn't understand Psychologue helps determining what will be your customer base and how to appeal to them before you make the actual product The problem is when the psychologue mess with the monetisation and advertising that's where its evil.
      Tbh i study in programming, and usually there is always a psychologue/ergonomist and other specialist that went before hand to determine what the target audiance needs to have in the interface then designer design around that and i code the results. In theory that's how it would work. Althought i just think the business people are the one in any project that push for pricing to be in design document and since they wants garantee, for them its about getting the most garanteed money out of the product. In the end i truly think marketing and advertising should not play with whatever a product is supposed to be, the actual person who actually had the idea of creating said product should. Sadly these days every single product pass by a marketing and advertising department before being created, that apply to pretty much everything you can buy. In fact when marketing judge it can't make enough money, the product won't even go to the designer, usually the idea is canned at marketing.
      Tbh if you change the way people make software you wouldve to also change the way any product is made. Aka make the marketing/advertisement depart come in after the designer design it. For software that would be after deciding you target audiance what they like, etv, then design shoild design the thing and present it to marketing. Things is doing this cost way more, cause you gotta pay all those people + their equipment,etc and when the product reach marketting they might canned it either way due to it not being profitable. Its not about being evil its about not wasting money on idea that might not work. Things is i despise marketing, i think any idea of product that is realisticly feasable should be given a chance before being sent to marketing to check its profitability. Sadly being businesses, they wants money, they only care about whats profitable. If you change the way any product is made prepare everything to cost mre and not just games, but everything

    • @Bangcat
      @Bangcat 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@TheAlison1456 Oh no, it's dying for many other reasons. This just seems to be their NEW gameplan for having people with potential negative opinions standing by the way side as they get spunky personalities who just rattle on being popular in front of their games giving them popular, un critiqued exposure as Jim said.
      The thing is, they began the downward spiral when the booth babes were bouncing beach balls, and a magical good time was suddenly declared too much for the following year. They then turned E3 into a closed door kind of gig, and so people were only seeing most of anything at those closed door meetings out of light of masses all together.
      Now they took things out of the shadows a while ago, but by then they already broke the spirit of E3. Now they hope to push the buzz to get those numbers back even further, but then stand them in lines at their ideal show times, and just have popular, chatty, biassed voices just yammer great things about games with no serious critique. Like watching Will Smith look up at a fortnite bus and say 'that's hot' like he did in that youtube video that was given more thumbs down than a spartacus convention through a kaleidoscope.
      A proper spirited expo for games should be done like a convention. For the fans, some fair questioning, and with people being able to see some time special events, BUT, with plenty of things running around the clock for people to enjoy with questions in minds, and experiences to see that fuel feedback in turn.
