@pamsap when you were talking about the activities at your church for some reason I thought it had to be a Lutheran Church and then you finally stated it with the German bratwurst, etc. etc. We often have Swedish smorgasbord. Yes Lutherans love to eat. We have families that have been connected with the church. I go to for many decades, and generations. So much fun. Thank you for sharing.🦊🥰
Yes, we do love our food, especially baked goods!!! I’m doing coffee hour weekend, it’s one of my favorite things to sign yup for!!!

I found the pattern for the Obba sweater last week before heading out to a new fiber festival in Portland, OR and nabbed yarn for it while there! Hands down the sweater is stunning and my vote goes with it. Love your podcast, fantastic ladies ❤
Yes, the Mexican Wedding cookies are the same as Russian Teacakes, one of our family favs for over 50 years. You can find the recipe on google. So so good and so easy but a little time consuming. Well worth the effort.

Mexican wedding cake cookies. Basically butter and flour and pecans or walnuts, rolled and powdered sugar. So good they melt in your mouth.

In my family, Mexican Wedding cookies are known as Russian Teacakes. I make them every year for Christmas, they are a family favorite and so easy to make. We prefer ground walnuts for the cookies, but ground pecans work just fine.

My family called the powdered sugar cookie, Me I can Wedding Cakes. We made them at Christmas with lots of other Christmas cookies. They are a basic cookie with butter and powdered sugar, vanilla and pecans. There are probably something else in them but they are also called Russian tea cakes. They are small round cookies that you roll into balls and bake and then immediately roll them in powdered sugar.
Obba! Pressed flowers is pretty, but alot of us are over it. Spincycle can be expensive.
Hello ladies , always enjoy your podcasts! Coquito is a Puerto Rican drink during the Christmas holidays or really anytime. The ‘q’ is pronounced as a ‘k’ sound not a silent sound. Happy knitting and blessed holidays! Will try the butternut squash with the lentils…sounds yummy!!😊

Pressed flower cardigan
The cookies are called Snow Balls or Mexican Wedding cookies. My mom made them. I’m allergic to them. I love Coquitos!

We always had Mexican Wedding cakes that you were talking about, they are my all time favorite!! Ours were a white ball that did have pecans in them and were rolled in lots of powdered sugar. SO good!!! Love your podcast and that you are both family oriented. Thank you!

I'd love to join you in an Obba KAL. My vote: Obba. Dina, I do know the cookies you're describing. I believe the go by different names, but if you google "italian wedding cookies" you'll find them. My (non-Italian) grandmother made them for her holiday cookie spread. I think she called them "snowball cookies"--and I do see recipes online for those; they look very similar. Unfortunately, I don't have my grandmother's recipe. Too bad! She was a wonderful cook.

It’s coquito (or co-ke-to) which is the Puerto Rico version of creme de vie, which is a rum infused eggnog Christmas liqueur. Evaporatored milk, whole milk and condensed milk, simple syrup, cinnamon and eggs with lots of rum!

i make the Mexican Wedding Cookies every Christmas - Butter, pecans, a few other ingredientsrolled in powder sugar- my favorite!
We use to call the, Mexican wedding rings..like a white cookies with powdered sugar all over them.
I love you ladies ❤ I tune in for the latest patterns. Currently I revised the Eschers Dream cowl to a tube scarf. I have a short neck. I’m an Alaskan living/retired in South Carolina. Back home we call those cookies Russian Teacakes. Keep up the good work ladies 🤗

I made the pressed flowers cardigan and hat for my Rhinebeck outfit this year.
My family has always made russian teacakes cookies for christmas. They also have nuts and powdered sugar.
Russian tea cakes and Mexican wedding cookies are the same thing -- the nuts are usually finely ground -- sooo delicious and so easy to make!

Dina, I think you're thinking of Mexican Wedding cookies. They are usually like a short bread cookie in a ball with crushed pecans bits and rolled in powdered confectioners sugar.
OMGEEE yes yes yes!!!!!! Need to make those. I'm not really a baker. I like to throw ingredients in, baking is so precise.
