Metal Slug 4 was released in March 2002. Developed by Mega Enterprise, a South Korean company.
Mega Enterprise got Copyright of SNK's games for South Korea in 1999. In 2006, the South Korean police had an claim for arrest warrant against Lee Sang Min, president of Mega Enterprise. Lee Sang Min escaped in China, abandoning its company (only a few people occupying the office). Mega Enterprise went out of business soon after.
A hack of this game is known as "Metal Slug 4 Plus".

Tell me about it. The games are also in Xbox One, though separate. The ACA are 8 USD a piece. XX, the 360 game, is thankfully backwards compatible, but the most expensive at 15 USD. Along with Leona costing 1 USD, so that is a total of 16 USD.
And even then, Metal Slug 6 is the only one missing. Something only MS Anthology has.

メタスラ史上ワーストと悪名高い4だけど、こうして見ると新しいアイデアを取り込もうという意気込みが感じられて好感持てる
1面別ルートのバイクチェイスとか、丸太で雪山をソリよろしく駆け下ったりとか、3までにはなくて新鮮
個人的には過去作との差別化がカケラも感じられなかった7よりずっと好感持てますね
SNK倒産後のゴタゴタさえなければより作り込めて、佳作ぐらいにはなれたと思う。惜しい

友達とゲーセンで初めてメタスラ3をプレイした時、戦場が宇宙まで行ってめちゃくちゃ盛り上がったの今でも覚えてるわ
逆にメタスラ4はあっけないしキツイ敵配置が多くてあんまりやり込まなかった

あと新兵器のトゥーマシンガンを加えたのが良い。

@@no_name923 確かに4の家庭版やアーケードアーカイブズで無印～3の家庭版のようにコンバットスクールとか3であった「モーデン救出ゲーム」のようなミニゲームや3と6にあったモーデン軍やマーズピープルとの共闘があったらもう少しだけ面白いと感じたかも。
4は敵施設破壊の楽しみや破壊行為のおもしろみはあるけどターマとエリが使えなくなったのと敵の配置と敵の攻撃がかわしにくくてほぼ回避不能の嫌らしい攻撃をするのがねぇ・・・。

前作までは、A・Bボタン同時押しで発動だった“メタスラアタック”を、それまでいらない子だったDボタンに割り当てたのが、本作の数少ない(いや、唯一と言うべきか？)評価点だな。
後はグラフィックの使い回し、ターマとエリが使えない、敵勢力がいつものモーデン軍じゃない等々、オールドファンを気持ちを逆撫でする部分しか無いわ。
