Nice job sharpening. My other wheel is a wire brush. I brush all grass build up on blades before sharpening and balancing

you just got a new subscriber. You just made sharpening my lawn mower blades so much easier. Thankyou for this video. I noticed your grinding wheel (coarse) was on the right side of your grinder. Mine was on the left so I couldnt use your same method. I've been fighting this every time and not getting good results. I have the blades that are mulch style with the jagged back edge and they couldnt be rested on anything so I was always getting a rough, uneven sharpening edge. Thanks to you I just switched my grinding wheels around and it is so much easier and wayyyy better results. Thankyou so much. Keep the videos coming

Nice video! I just sharpened my blades with an angle grinder using a flap disc 60grit. Mounted on to a vise. I never knew you had to sharpen backside of them. I only sharpen the angle side and remove the burr from other side.

You are right, you don't want to sharpen the back side or your grass will rip appart instead of cutting neatly.

All u have to do is make a 30 degree angle on one side. So make a 30 degree plate and mount it to your grinder.

Your process is poor, you keep changing the angle of the grind with each pass by 5 degrees, better to adjust the platform to 30 degrees and be consistent every time. Your second mistake is putting 6-8 passes on the back side of the blade resulting in an angle on both sides of the blade when only 1 pass is required to remove burrs, back side of the blade should have zero angle.

A mower blade works like a chisel.
You are only suposed to sharpen it on one side and leave the other side dull.

…and don’t you hold the blade the opposite from what he is doing?

Its very easy to tell if your blades are cutting, or tearing. When the grass has been cut get off and look at the cut. Clean flat tops is sharp, flat/torn tops are dull blades. Grass is able to heal faster when its growing with sharp blades. Torn grass takes longer to heal and sometimes dies if it's dry/ etc etc.
