Cleveland, great content keep it coming. I recently purchased a 70 and I am loving it thus far. I was thinking in private events or weddings specifically I plan to use silent cue to begin formal dances with my TT's. Its the only way to get a clean start without having to go into int mode -> Transport.
Silent Cue is to prevent less hand movement to focus on scratching/routines. I use it mostly to drop it on the 1 after I get my bpms correctly aligned and makes it easier to use. There is a way to edit the xml file to get the command to midi to any button on the 72. I use it on one of the custom pages. Not everyone understands what is silent cue because controllers don't have this feature since the command is not as instant as turntables are.
You can also set up loop in a blank space in beginning or end of the song... then push your cue point. Most scratch Dj's never use all 8 cues. So you can allocate a cue pad for your silent cue
With the Rane 12 MK2s you can use the phono outputs for DVS mode with the platters spinning or USB outputs and it will operate just like a standard controller and you can have fun using the silent cue with platters off.
so as a buying guide; you're saying the ranes 72mk2 doesn't have a hardware button for silent cue; and what is the big difference between the 72mk2 and the 70? what are you not getting on the 70?
Hi man I've been folowing you for the last 3 months (or so) and love your videos and the way you explain things! But I've one question for you, I've noticed that you are scratching on the Pioneer PLX 1000 but they don't have vinyls while you scratching. How comes??? Are they connected to something that makes them digital turntables? I'm at a very beginning of learning this new world as (as soon as the covid drama will end) I will follow a live DJ course. For the moment I understand how controller works (basic functions) but very confused about there turntables (that are supposed to be used with vinyls) but that you are using with no vinyls! :O Thank you for the help!!! A big hug from Italy!!!
How do access this on the 72 please just got one and its diving me nuts from a controller to turntable i didn't think it would be this hard.Help please.Thank you.
For 72Mk2, go to MENU > MIXER SETTINGS > PARAMETER SETUP Select BUTTON MODE to choose the option required, here is a breakdown of how each one functions: *SILENT CUE | Activating this will mute the active channel allowing you to leave the volume fader up, the channel is un-muted the moment you select an active cue point. *INSTANT DOUBLES | As well as being able to instantly double a track using the load/scroll encoder, engaging this mode lets you also use the parameter buttons. *SYNC | This mode will enable you to switch Sync on or off. *CUSTOM | Midi map this to an operation of your choice. Select the SILENT CUE function
This seems like a lot when prior in my routines i would set my first cue point to the end of the track and let it play for dead air and then hit the cue point I need when required. Obviously you would have to set up serato properly to do this. These features are built into programs already, it's just a matter of toying around. This was just a reinvention of the wheel while promoting the mixer imo.
Well everyone is entitled to their opinion but in this case your assumption may be a tad wrong. This feature was not in the original plans and you had to have the forethought to actually go and create a dead loop at the beginning and end. (Which I did note in the video) You don’t have to do that with silent cue. I don’t need to promote the mixer, I reviewed this mixer before and I own it. It just so happens that the best hardware for the silent cue feature is on this mixer. I could have done the same video on the s11 which also has silent cue. I’m not sure how pressing one button to mute seems like a lot. It was a lot more work when you had to create the loop.
Just noticed your using a Windows based system. Have you made a switch to Windows?? Or are you just going between Windows and Mac depending on the circumstances of what you are doing ??
@@ClevelandTerry instead of internally changing the instant double button to silent cue in the mixer settings. You can keep the settings original and to activate silent cue it would be shift button + instant double button (left or right button depending on the side you want silent) this way you have instant doubles and silent cue available at the same time.
Just got Rane 70 best mixer so far.
Thank you for clearly explaining this function!

Love the silent Cue!! The reason I purchased the Rane 70
Great info, thanks for making this. I'm using a REV 7 and know now what the button does lol!
Is there anyway to keep the Rev-7 platter from stopping at the end of the track
Sounds good great video 👍🏼
Hi Cleveland I have a rane 70 and I need a new computer is the MacBook 2021 with 8 gigs good to run mixer?

He uses phase dj from mwm. Just research on this. Wireless djing without any cables or needles..
Any idea how to set this up in the 72 mixer?
It’s already there. A firmware update added it.
@@ClevelandTerry hello, thanks for your answer. But where do I find it? How can I use it?
Pardon my ignorance, but what are those things that are being used in the center instead of the needles??
You probably know by now but those are Phase DJ. Digital needles basically.

I’m currently testing the XMG dj laptop.

Got it thanks 😂 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽
remember when ableton x serato was a thing.....where it recorded your cross fader....good days lol
Cool tip. Thanks
I have the serato edit xml edit for the rane 70
Shift+instant double = silent cue. If you need it I could send to your discord
Why would I need it if I can just hit the button? Are you referring to using it on another mixer?

I get that. That cool. I don’t know if I would use it because I’m just used to using the knobs for instant doubles but sounds cool
Thank You #pie
