You're a teacher, in reality you are just that. I'm a 40 year old wife and mother of 5. I have a 20 year old all the way down to a 4 year old. I needed to learn how to apply makeup again and what to use. You taught me so much. I had been applying makeup the same way since I was 20. The way you explain everything makes it so simple. I'm so glad and lucky that your page popped up on my you tube. Do not ever let anyone make you feel bad or guilty for who you are or who they think you are. I fully agree! 40 year old mom of 4, aging 21-11 years old. I've been a mom and wife since I was 19 and needless to say didn't have a lot of time or money to worry about makeup. Now that I'm older and in a different place in my life, I started to feel like I was in a rut. I got my self together and decided it was my time to start to put a little time and effort towards myself. I lost nearly 70lbs, went from a size 18 to a size 6, enrolled in college, and then decided to work on the outside a bit. Started coloring my hair, started learning about clothes and make up. I have 3 sons and 1 14 year old daughter. I'm really trying to raise her to be strong and self assured. I wanted to be a good example. I wanted her to see what it looked like to love yourself. I also wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. YOU GAVE ME AN ESCAPE when I had cancer and no eyelashes, eyebrows, hair or nose hairs! You taught me how to look better in a difficult time. The escape that I was accepted and could focus on color and lines to feel as normal as one could. Cancer free for 2 years in July. Don't every doubt the lightness you give!

Jaclyn, my 14 yr old (homeschooled!) daughter and I have been watching your videos for a few months now and really enjoy them. While we can't afford the high end goodies (I'm a single mum and my girl is 2 years off cancer treatment and her illness decimated my finances, but she's alive and healthy so it's all good) it doesn't stop us from watching (thanks for this drugstore vid!) because it is a fun escape at the end of our day and you bring an awesome energy that reminds us to be silly and have fun (and my girl can be so serious!). It breaks my heart that people choose to be so nasty. Just remember it is THEM and their own issues that they can't deal with so they lash out at others. Just keep on being you and letting your light shine.

Oh Jaclyn, I totally get you. I had to move in with my boyfriend and his family at just the age of 18 and have to support myself through full time school. I worked for ages to save but had to quit due to a condition in my feet and back which make it a struggle to stand up more than 10 mins, and I can't even afford a car right now so I'm stuck at home all day everyday at a place that I have one tiny room to share with my boyfriend in a place that isn't home, and that's where you come in. Your videos always make me smile and make me think about what it'd be like yo be in your shoes, you're gorgeous and so very talented!! Thank god you share your talent with us I am so thankful for you, some people who would be in my position can get very jealous going through the struggle and that's up to them, that's who they are and I feel sorry for them. It is really nice that you showed your fans that you are just like them. It probably meant more than you may know. It's always nice to have someone who understands what you're going through and I understand this was posted 2 years ago, but it may still help people today.
When I first found your channel by accident I was in the midst of serious life turmoil. The deaths, illness and tragedy was all beyond my control. In my grief and stress makeup, hair and fashion were pushed into the shadows. I looked bad and felt worse. Your videos were so "up" that watching them became a bright spot in my day. I was shocked at how doable those glam looks are when you break it down for us. We have similar coloring and I went out and bought many of the products. I actually put the computer in my bathroom so I could follow along and learn during tutorials. You said that makeup etc is superficial and while yes it is, it is NOT superficial when you help others to feel better about themselves. I don't know you personally. I'm impressed that you choose to be up and happy and not bitter about the rough times that we all must endure. You set a beautiful example. Anyone who believes you are fake needs to watch your IMATS clips and the love you show to everyone. And you know what? If anyone believes you are fake or stuck up simply don't watch. As for me, I'm looking forward to your next video.

I married my husband at 19 (were both 20 and about to go through a deployment) and were struggling right now. I love watching you use your holy grail items and high end items so it gives me something to look forward to when we're not in a tough spot financially. I love seeing you use the Nars Laguna bronzer because it's so beautiful, and if I'm gonna spend my money on one item it's gonna be that. Don't pay attention to the people who say stuff just to get noticed. You're so positive and SO beautiful from the inside out! Drugstore products I like to use for the highend things she used: N.Y.C smooth skin loose translucent powder to bake undereyes to avoid creasing. I usually don't like NYC but this is an amazing powder that leaves my skin so soft, smooth, and bright and completely eliminates creasing. elf brow kits. I use the light color but they're around $2 and include a small brow brush with a wax and a powder to set the wax. Maybelline Brow Drama crayon pomade. I use soft brown. This is something that reminds me of the Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil. It's pretty good for beginners and people who don't want to use brushes for their brows. Nyx HD finishing powder in translucent. This is what I use for my undereyes on days that I don't bake. It's not my favorite powder by any means but it gets rid of creasing and it's a cheap drugstore product. And if you want a drugstore eye primer rather than just using concealer, a few that I like are the elf eyeshadow primer (I just use this to get rid of any visible veins or imperfections on my lids and create a nice, smooth base) and the nyx eyeshadow base to really make the shadows more vivid and last all day. I found your channel a few months ago, and I'm like the other girl who said she watches you religiously but never really commented on the things she wanted to say. You are such an inspiration to people to go for their dreams, and you seem like a genuinely beautiful person both on the outside and inside. Everyone of us is going through personal struggles and some people tend to forget that the people that they feel negative thoughts toward are humans as well. We all bleed when injured, cry when upset, and smile when happy. For every million people who support you and love seeing a new video by you come up on their subscriber list, and I'm one of those folks who gets excited every time I see you made something new!, there will always be one that will take their jealousy towards you and try to make you into a bad person. It helps them to justify their negativity and bad attitude and is on them, not you. NEVER apologize for a second for being the fabulous person that you are. I never used to take care of my skin, never knew of anything to help my skin or look just look and feel better in general. Had no clue how to use makeup even though I've always been interested. I think your personality radiates through your videos and most of us feels like we know you from how honest you are. Those other people probably have a lot of darkness in their hearts and don't live a very happy life. They will always try to make others lives worse. You have the ability to influence a lot of people and it's no surprise you're becoming so popular. I've since started to watch other beauty channels but by far yours is the best. I've even caught my boyfriend watching your videos and he agrees with me. It hurts my heart when someone on youtube gets hurt by harsh, unfair criticism and then feels like they have to explain themselves. I have seen this happen to a number of my favorite youtubers. I don't know why people have to come here and make accusations towards someone that they don't really know. It's also true that in recent years with the economic problems, many people are struggling. For myself, I would never think of saying anything hurtful to those like Jaclyn who bring us joy and fun and new products and all those good things. I take people on youtube at face value. I don't look for sinister motives and hidden agendas. I am just glad that there are such great people on youtube who take the time to show up tutorials that give us great ideas about makeup and teach us new skills. Jacklyn, I only recently found your TH-cam page recently and this video really touched me. I'm so sorry there are people in the world who can be so mean. Anyone who judges you is a hater! I love the fact that you are comfortable in your own shin, I know I am not but working to get to that point. I love the fact that you have so much happiness in your live and your silliness is infectious. I know from personal experience that kind of happiness is because you have the right people in your life, GOOD for you! Personally I find the idea of you using particular products to be your personal preference and there is NOTHING wrong with that. At my age of 47 I should know how to apply makeup but it always looks horrible and caked on so I normally go without. My point that I am trying to make is that I find your page very informational and I am trying some techniques to hopefully make myself look better. I want to thank you for that!

I'm so grateful for your personal message at the end. I love learning more about people I watch and your story is so relatable for me. I'm 30 and found you a year or 2 ago and 30 might sound so much older to you but I still feel like 21 was yesterday which is how old I was when my husband and I started dating. We've gone through so much and life is precious and I appreciate the beauty in others and their testimonies. Your whole life prepared you for your recent years and you are reaping all the good seeds you've sown. I'll never forget the video I watched that made me fall in love with your beautiful soul. It was a q and a video or a get to know you video of some sort and I learned so much about you I was blown away because I would have never thought all those interesting facts would belong to you! I'm grateful for all of my experiences because they will forever be a part of me and they've made me stronger and will forever keep me humble and appreciative of the little things. When you cried, I cried with you, because I could feel what you were about to share. I know that struggle. And that struggle is okay and it keeps me grounded and reminds me that at the end of the day, what's most important are what we already have- each other. i'm 16, i'm still in full-time education and i have a crappy job at mcdonald's which is exhausting and the pay is awful. i only buy drugstore products but i watch your videos religiously as i love watching your techniques. the techniques you use can be applied to any product and so i'm so confused as to why people constantly bitch about it. i understand the not being able to afford nice makeup, i've been pining for a naked 1 palette for years. you're a beautiful, positive person with a great energy and your videos make my day. please don't let the rude comments get to you :-)

I was homeschooled too& married my husband young. We don't have a lot of money we hardly make ends meet every month it's a complete miracle. We work our asses off every month and never get ahead. I've just recently started watching your videos because I really only in the ,sat year decided to take the time to pamper myself and put the extra effort in to doing my make up! I'm a 35 yr old mom of two boys, an elementary school AP and a wanna be runner. I have realized it's not stuck up or vain or snobby to care about yourself. It teaches my boys that I care about myself and I am worth it (and it warms my heart when my little guy says I'm pretty). I struggled for years with my appearence, and now taking time to treat myself makes all the difference in how I feel. I'm sorry there are hurtful people who want to bring you down. I understand you and that's why it makes me feel uncomfortable. I know exactly how it feels to own an eyepencil from the Chinese Store because Drugstore products were too expensive... And now I'm able to buy some products once every two months or so and I'm so happy about it. You should never apologize because of what you have achieved on your own, this tutorials are made to inspire us not to do exactly what we would do with the products we own because that's impossible and really boring. Viewers should always have in mind that you can replace any high-end product with the one you own, as you did today. As you said, it's a break from reality. It should be all about having fun. Haters gonna hate hate hate :) , I don't care which products you use most of the time, if I can afford it good, if not I try to find something similar from Nyx, Sleek and other low cost brands. I just like the way you explain and I'm trying to learn your technique on how to apply make-up correctly and do those gorgeous looks :). I find it sad that people now a days tend to be more negative and hurtful rather then uplifting and positive. Jaclyn I admire you and your talent. I've been following you for a year now also since I started going to school for makeup and skin care and Most of the makeup tricks I know from you. I call you my virtual makeup teacher you don't know how much I appreciate all that you do and have done. If people are giving you a hard time it's because they don't know you and don't realize that you are a professional. I also understand where your coming from, I too struggled in the beginning of my marriage and was not able to pay for $20 blush. If you are going to make a drugstore recommendation, I want it to be something that you would choose over your high end options. Jaclyn, I know this video is almost exactly 2 years old BUT for real girl I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do! No lie, you and only you have been the one person I keep coming back to on TH-cam atleast for the past few months. I've been going through an extremely hard time and I honest to god wish my problems consisted of hoping to afford expensive makeup. But I don't want to make what I'm saying about me- you need to know how truly special you are! Like I've seen every other "makeup guru" on here and I don't know what it is about you, your videos and what you do that comfort me SO much but I had to leave a comment (and BTW this is my first and probably last comment I will ever leave on TH-cam lol. Ooh I think you're confused as to what she's talking about. She no longer having money problems she's saying she can relate because she was in that situation before. People have been claiming she doesn't appreciate drugstore make-up because she rarely uses it which is not the case hence this tutorial.

The reason why I watch your videos is because of your realness. The first time my friend showed me a video of yours was two summers ago and I was shocked! You spoke of things that were personal to you and usually are hidden from the public eye/people don't share online. Like a lot of people have said in the other comments, haters are going to hate! I applaud your courage to stand up for yourself. It really bothers me that as women we attack each other with such viciousness. Men congratulate each other for success, but women often do just the opposite to each other. I just recently got into makeup and started watching your TH-cam channel. I'm sure this vid is old and you probably won't even see this but you need to know you are my complete and utter life saver. You have taught me so much and I'm so thankful. I never thought I'd be the type of person to wear a lot of makeup but when you just get going and start creating it's such an awesome empowering feeling. I fully agree! 40 year old mom of 4, aging 21-11 years old. I've been a mom and wife since I was 19 and needless to say didn't have a lot of time or money to worry about makeup. Now that I'm older and in a different place in my life, I started to feel like I was in a rut. I got my self together and decided it was my time to start to put a little time and effort towards myself. I lost nearly 70lbs, went from a size 18 to a size 6, enrolled in college, and then decided to work on the outside a bit. Started coloring my hair, started learning about clothes and make up. I also wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. YOU GAVE ME AN ESCAPE when I had cancer and no eyelashes, eyebrows, hair or nose hairs! You taught me how to look better in a difficult time. The escape that I was accepted and could focus on color and lines to feel as normal as one could. Cancer free for 2 years in July. Don't every doubt the lightness you give!

Jaclyn, my 14 yr old (homeschooled!) daughter and I have been watching your videos for a few months now and really enjoy them. While we can't afford the high end goodies (I'm a single mum and my girl is 2 years off cancer treatment and her illness decimated my finances, but she's alive and healthy so it's all good) it doesn't stop us from watching (thanks for this drugstore vid!) because it is a fun escape at the end of our day and you bring an awesome energy that reminds us to be silly and have fun (and my girl can be so serious!). It breaks my heart that people choose to be so nasty. Just remember it is THEM and their own issues that they can't deal with so they lash out at others. Just keep on being you and letting your light shine.

Oh Jaclyn, I totally get you. I had to move in with my boyfriend and his family at just the age of 18 and have to support myself through full time school. I worked for ages to save but had to quit due to a condition in my feet and back which make it a struggle to stand up more than 10 mins, and I can't even afford a car right now so I'm stuck at home all day everyday at a place that I have one tiny room to share with my boyfriend in a place that isn't home, and that's where you come in. Your videos always make me smile and make me think about what it'd be like yo be in your shoes, you're gorgeous and so very talented!! Thank god you share your talent with us I am so thankful for you, some people who would be in my position can get very jealous going through the struggle and that's up to them, that's who they are and I feel sorry for them. It is really nice that you showed your fans that you are just like them. It probably meant more than you may know. It's always nice to have someone who understands what you're going through and I understand this was posted 2 years ago, but it may still help people today.
When I first found your channel by accident I was in the midst of serious life turmoil. The deaths, illness and tragedy was all beyond my control. In my grief and stress makeup, hair and fashion were pushed into the shadows. I looked bad and felt worse. Your videos were so "up" that watching them became a bright spot in my day. I was shocked at how doable those glam looks are when you break it down for us.
We have similar coloring and I went out and bought many of the products. I actually put the computer in my bathroom so I could follow along and learn during tutorials. You said that makeup etc is superficial and while yes it is, it is NOT superficial when you help others to feel better about themselves.
I don't know you personally. I'm impressed that you choose to be up and happy and not bitter about the rough times that we all must endure. You set a beautiful example. Anyone who believes you are fake needs to watch your IMATS clips and the love you show to everyone. And you know what? If anyone believes you are fake or stuck up simply don't watch. As for me, I'm looking forward to your next video.

I love seeing you use the Nars Laguna bronzer because it's so beautiful, and if I'm gonna spend my money on one item it's gonna be that. Hey girl I saw your thing about your hubs deploying. from one military wife to another, praying for ya!! random but yeah!
Drugstore products I like to use for the highend things she used:
N.Y.C smooth skin loose translucent powder to bake undereyes to avoid creasing. I usually don't like NYC but this is an amazing powder that leaves my skin so soft, smooth, and bright and completely eliminates creasing.
elf brow kits. I use the light color but they're around $2 and include a small brow brush with a wax and a powder to set the wax.
Maybelline Brow Drama crayon pomade. I use soft brown. This is something that reminds me of the Benefit Goof Proof brow pencil. It's pretty good for beginners and people who don't want to use brushes for their brows.
Nyx HD finishing powder in translucent. This is what I use for my undereyes on days that I don't bake. It's not my favorite powder by any means but it gets rid of creasing and it's a cheap drugstore product.
And if you want a drugstore eye primer rather than just using concealer, a few that I like are the elf eyeshadow primer (I just use this to get rid of any visible veins or imperfections on my lids and create a nice, smooth base) and the nyx eyeshadow base to really make the shadows more vivid and last all day.

I found your channel a few months ago, and I'm like the other girl who said she watches you religiously but never really commented on the things she wanted to say.
You are such an inspiration to people to go for their dreams, and you seem like a genuinely beautiful person both on the outside and inside. Everyone of us is going through personal struggles and some people tend to forget that the people that they feel negative thoughts toward are humans as well. We all bleed when injured, cry when upset, and smile when happy. For every million people who support you and love seeing a new video by you come up on their subscriber list, and I'm one of those folks who gets excited every time I see you made something new!, there will always be one that will take their jealousy towards you and try to make you into a bad person. It helps them to justify their negativity and bad attitude and is on them, not you.
NEVER apologize for a second for being the fabulous person that you are. I love watching you not just for your amazing skills in make up, but for your funny little quirks that come through as well. I always watch through to the end of your videos for the bloopers, and this one particularly moved me and I felt I finally had to comment.

Those other people probably have a lot of darkness in their hearts and don't live a very happy life. They will always try to make others lives worse. It hurts my heart when someone on youtube gets hurt by harsh, unfair criticism and then feels like they have to explain themselves. I have seen this happen to a number of my favorite youtubers. I don't know why people have to come here and make accusations towards someone that they don't really know. It's also true that in recent years with the economic problems, many people are struggling. For myself, I would never think of saying anything hurtful to those like Jaclyn who bring us joy and fun and new products and all those good things. I take people on youtube at face value. I don't look for sinister motives and hidden agendas. I am just glad that there are such great people on youtube who take the time to show up tutorials that give us great ideas about makeup and teach us new skills. I only recently found your TH-cam page recently and this video really touched me. I'm so sorry there are people in the world who can be so mean. Anyone who judges you is a hater! I love the fact that you are comfortable in your own shin, I know I am not but working to get to that point. I love the fact that you have so much happiness in your live and your silliness is infectious. I know from personal experience that kind of happiness is because you have the right people in your life, GOOD for you!
Personally I find the idea of you using particular products to be your personal preference and there is NOTHING wrong with that. At my age of 47 I should know how to apply makeup but it always looks horrible and caked on so I normally go without. My point that I am trying to make is that I find your page very informational and I am trying some techniques to hopefully make myself look better. I want to thank you for that!

Your whole life prepared you for your recent years and you are reaping all the good seeds you've sown. I'll never forget the video I watched that made me fall in love with your beautiful soul. It was a q and a video or a get to know you video of some sort and I learned so much about you I was blown away because I would have never thought all those interesting facts would belong to you! I'm grateful for all of my experiences because they will forever be a part of me and they've made me stronger and will forever keep me humble and appreciative of the little things. When you cried, I cried with you, because I could feel what you were about to share. I know that struggle. And that struggle is okay and it keeps me grounded and reminds me that at the end of the day, what's most important are what we already have- each other. Makeup is fun and a bonus and an avenue in which to relate to others. But family, friends, and just putting good out into the world is what we are given life to do- to love one another. So thank you for being an amazing role model out there for women, children. Even your husband is positively impacting others. You two are a beautiful team. He treats you as he should treat you and it helps show young girls that there are good men out there who treat their women well. So many young girls lack love and lack role models to show them what is possible. You and your Hubby are doing good things with your opportunities. As a mother and a former middle school teacher, I know the powerful influence you have and I'm so happy to see you being a positive light. Lots of hugs and smiles to you!!! i'm 16, i'm still in full-time education and i have a crappy job at mcdonald's which is exhausting and the pay is awful. i only buy drugstore products but i watch your videos religiously as i love watching your techniques. the techniques you use can be applied to any product and so i'm so confused as to why people constantly bitch about it. i understand the not being able to afford nice makeup, i've been pining for a naked 1 palette for years. you're a beautiful, positive person with a great energy and your videos make my day. please don't let the rude comments get to you :-)

I was homeschooled too& married my husband young. We don't have a lot of money we hardly make ends meet every month it's a complete miracle. We work our asses off every month and never get ahead. You don't have to explain your self to ANYONE!

I've just recently started watching your videos because I really only in the ,sat year decided to take the time to pamper myself and put the extra effort in to doing my make up! I'm a 35 yr old mom of two boys, an elementary school AP and a wanna be runner. I have realized it's not stuck up or vain or snobby to care about yourself. It teaches my boys that I care about myself and I am worth it (and it warms my heart when my little guy says I'm pretty). I struggled for years with my appearence, and now taking time to treat myself makes all the difference in how I feel. I'm sorry there are hurtful people who want to bring you down. You should never apologize because of what you have achieved on your own, this tutorials are made to inspire us not to do exactly what we would do with the products we own because that's impossible and really boring.
Viewers should always have in mind that you can replace any high-end product with the one you own, as you did today.

Haters gonna hate hate hate :) , I don't care which products you use most of the time, if I can afford it good, if not I try to find something similar from Nyx, Sleek and other low cost brands. I just like the way you explain and I'm trying to learn your technique on how to apply make-up correctly and do those gorgeous looks :). My advice : surround yourself only with positive people, comments , attitude :)

I find it sad that people now a days tend to be more negative and hurtful rather then uplifting and positive. Jaclyn I admire you and your talent. I've been following you for a year now also since I started going to school for makeup and skin care and Most of the makeup tricks I know from you. I call you my virtual makeup teacher you don't know how much I appreciate all that you do and have done.
If people are giving you a hard time it's because they don't know you and don't realize that you are a professional. I also understand where your coming from, I too struggled in the beginning of my marriage and was not able to pay for $20 blush. However our lives have changed over the years so now that I can afford high end makeup I appreciate how our lives have been blessed.

Honestly Jaclyn, I love that you don't force drugstore makeup. I like that you look at all makeup the same and don't set lower standards and expectations for something. If you are going to make a drugstore recommendation, I want it to be something that you would choose over your high end options. That's a big reason I but almost ALL of your drugstore recommendations because I know that they have to be great.

Jaclyn, I know this video is almost exactly 2 years old BUT for real girl I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing what you do! No lie, you and only you have been the one person I keep coming back to on TH-cam atleast for the past few months. I've been going through an extremely hard time and I honest to god wish my problems consisted of hoping to afford expensive makeup. But I don't want to make what I'm saying about me- you need to know how truly special you are! Like I've seen every other "makeup guru" on here and I don't know what it is about you, your videos and what you do that comfort me SO much but I had to leave a comment (and BTW this is my first and probably last comment I will ever leave on TH-cam lol. Ooh I think you're confused as to what she's talking about. She no longer having money problems she's saying she can relate because she was in that situation before. The reason why I watch your videos is because of your realness. The first time my friend showed me a video of yours was two summers ago and I was shocked! You spoke of things that were personal to you and usually are hidden from the public eye/people don't share online. Like a lot of people have said in the other comments, haters are going to hate! I applaud your courage to stand up for yourself. It really bothers me that as women we attack each other with such viciousness. Men congratulate each other for success, but women often do just the opposite to each other. I am super proud of your Jaclyn and all that you have already accomplished in your young life (and yes I can say that because I am a good 15+ years older than you! Lol!). I just recently got into makeup and started watching your TH-cam channel. I'm sure this vid is old and you probably won't even see this but you need to know you are my complete and utter life saver. I am running out to WalMart to pick up this L'oreal lumi foundation and the L'oreal amber rush eyeshadow! I have been on the fence about buying these exact products for a long time now, and I feel crazy for not have picked them up yet after seeing you use them!!
