He was hired as a stunt coordinator and was given the role because it was easier for him to learn English lines of dialogue than teach an actor to fight like him. It's a short fight between the 2 of them but starts with Duncan McLeod being attacked by a gang of Immortals which is a decent fight as well.

In the English dubbed version. Every time the northerner broke something, he would exclaim "I'll pay!" The underlying importance of this was, when "Grandmasters" fought each other inside of a house it was understood they should stay in control of their actions and be civil in the way of sparing. IE not destroy anything in their surrounding area. In essence, do no harm. This idea is implanted at the very beginning of the movie when Ip Man spared with another Grandmaster. This scene amplifies the fact the northerner is nothing more than a bully rather then a Grandmaster. The end of the scene reinforces this fact when Ip Man uses a switch to spank the bully. IMHO one of the better directed scenes in the movie. It told a story within the story to set up a later scene.
a little fun fact: Ip man in real history had bad finance when he was young, but his wife is from a very rich family, thus, the big house, furniture etc.. actually all belong to his wife, thats why Ip man feel unhappy when the northerner broke his wife's stuff
You would love the end fight on No Retreat No Surrender 3: Blood Brothers.. It's an old 80's hong kong flick but them choreographers from HK have some skills. Reaction to that would be awesome. :-)
