@grundik1 IIncorrectly regarded as goofs: Episode 1.20, "Avenging Angel", features a swordfight between two immortals that appears to be on holy ground. However, the site is actually a museum displaying religious artifacts from the crusades.
The confusion arises because footage from this fight is seen in the opening credits of later episodes as the narrator speaks of holy ground.

Tessa was a little judgemental in this episode. "He's insane!" Maybe he started ranting about how he healed instantly and couldn't be killed and the army thought he'd lost his mind? OK, he actually WAS crazy, but she should realise how unsettling it would be to discover you were immortal (and it's not as if she'd spoken to the guy to make any judgement). Though she did do pretty well in talking her way out of trouble when he finally did show up.
Also, I'm continually amazed at the TARDIS like dimensions of the inside of the barge. That place is huge!

I would suggest that Duncan was letting him tire first before dispatching him, and being cautious; one of Duncan's own ploys is to appear less able than he is, especially when wounded, and then jump an overconfident opponent. This would make Duncan cautious in turn, especially when fighting an insane combat veteran.

    But, on holy ground, though.
Something weird should have happened. In S5.E9 - Little Tin God - Dawson told MacLeod of how two Immortals went at it on holy ground and that oddly enough, soon after the volcano at Pompeii erupted. In Highlander 3: The Final Dimension (1994) - we saw Connnor's nigh indestructible katana blade mysteriously shatter after fighting on holy ground. So accordingly this fight broke that rule?
And even if this guy was former SAS and had combat experience that would not be enough to go up again MacLeod.
